  1. I changed the URL to a more permanent one and I also added some links to other stuff I usually use when flying, so I can use this site as a sort of kneeboard reference. New URL is http://www.viggentools.se/ Oh, and if someone knows the name of the guy who made the CK37 code reference image please let me know so I can give credit.
  2. Thank you all very much for the kind words! Glad you like it :)
  3. I threw together a thing, maybe someone will find it useful: http://www.viggentools.se/ I'll add the naval part later, too tired right now. It's based on grunf's ELINT database here: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=182490
  4. I said THE VIGGEN ISN'T THE PRETTIEST AIRCRAFT TO WORK WITH But she looks a lot better with some make-up on :)
  5. Super good job! Viggen isn't the prettiest aircraft to work with but your skins actually make it look surprisingly good! Please keep em coming :)
  6. That's a good tip, but I just want to point out that you can't always rely on that being an indicator for chaff/flare being dispensed since it will also flash when ECM is being broadcast (if you're carrying an ECM pod and it's active). The indicator being flashed is "Motverk" which basically means "counter-measures", so it's a generic indicator for that some sort of counter-measures is being employed - which can be ECM, chaff or flare. So yeah it's kind of a problem. But you should be able to see if "Motverk" is flashing synchronously with incoming spikes on the RWR or not, and if it's not then I guess it's dispensing.
  7. Yes, good! I'm breaking my wings all the time now, sometimes it's justified of course, but they also seem to snap very often even when I don't think I'm doing anything too crazy.
  8. Really nice! Good job!
  9. Thanks guys! So much knowledge in this community, it's really amazing...
  10. Interesting... I'll go read up on how the cooling for these things worked, thanks.
  11. I'm just wondering if anyone know why we can only carry the RB24's on the outer wing pylons and not the RB74? As I have understood it - enabling the outer wing pylons for sidewinders was part of the 90's AJS upgrade, so why on earth did they then not enable support for the RB74 and just the RB24(J)? The only reason I can think of is because of weight, since that would be a sensitive issue so far out on the wing, but the RB74 is actually only 10kg heavier than the RB24, which isn't a lot relatively speaking, so I'm guessing that's probably not it. It's just super ironic that the 2 pylons which are dedicated for carrying sidewinders and where you pretty much always will carry them - is also the only 2 pylons which can't carry the much more modern variant!
  12. I think that's really cool that you'll still buy it. Not everyone can get excited about every aircraft. I'm super excited about it myself but then I'm Swedish so... :) And actually - and I'll probably (definitely) get stoned for this - it's really NOT a very capable attack aircraft in my opinion, it's got a very limited loadout, no internal countermeasures, very basic RWR, no gun, and so on... BUT I love it and is as excited as can be about it, and I think that working within the limitations of an aircraft is a big part of the fun anyway.
  13. So this is a mod you're working on? Or are you a representative of LN or ED? Either way I'm glad at least somebody is working on something regarding this. I guess the whole electronic warfare / countermeasures simulation as a whole might be due for a major overhaul in DCS, since from what I've read here on the forum it's pretty basic as it is now.
  14. That's basically how I think it's probably coded now as well, since it's a simplification of reality that works well enough for most cases, but unfortunately not for the Viggen...
  15. Hey, I'm wondering how countermeasures work in DCS because I've read that it was standard practice for the Viggen to fly in groups where only one aircraft were carrying countermeasures for the whole flight, but would this tactic work in DCS? Basically what I'm asking is: If for example a SAM locks and fires on Viggen A, which is not carrying countermeasures and Viggen B, which is in close formation, starts dropping chaff, will this have a chance of spoofing the missile? Or does it only "count" in DCS if the aircraft being targeted is the one dropping countermeasures?
  16. Super! Thank you very much.
  17. Can anyone say what time the livestream is and where exactly it will be?
  18. I wouldn't recommend doing a loop while firing the RB 05.
  19. Didn't know that the SU-33 didn't really have this capability, that's interesting considering it's naval role. And yeah it was a really long time ago :) it was probably in the lock-on days.
  20. I was about to disagree with you because I distinctly remember using anti-ship missiles with the SU-33, but that was many many years ago and apparently they have taken them out of the game again (I just checked and realized this). Anyone know why and if there's any plans on bringing those back?
  21. Yes we Swedes LOVE the Viggen :D It's not very pretty to look at and its capabilities are rather modest in most areas, but it's OUR fighter. It may not be the BEST fighter but it's OUR fighter and we're damn proud of it :) (and if you understand the context it was meant to operate within it actually IS very capable)
  22. Good point! It's easy to forget that the political landscape was very different in many ways back then.
  23. I had a feeling you would show up and set us all (mostly me) straight since you seem to be an everlasting source of factual information on these forums, thanks a lot! :) Also a good point about the americans probably not wanting to export brand new equipment, especially not to a non-NATO country. I hadn't thought of that.
  24. You're probably right. It's just that the knee-jerk reaction is of course to go with the option that is both cheaper and better. But I'm totally on-board with the argument that it was a sort of long term investment in Swedish industry.
