I'm curious, has anyone made a recommendation to the devs regarding creating an In-game radio communications environment? Instead of having to use TS or a TS based system like SimpleRadio, It would be cool to have a closed server-based system embedded in DCS itself with no 3rd party software required, to allow smooth and realistic aircraft communications between players on the same frequency and perhaps set the foundation for something bigger.
In the future once the foundation is set it would be cool to begin integrating the player to AI voice communications system, like perhaps communicating with AI wingmen, AI JTAC's/Ground Elements or Airports/Fields by just saying whats in the drop down menu. Of course the priority at first would be placed on player based comms as you wouldn't need to develop any speech recognition software for that. I think having a legitimate and fully functional communication's system in the game is what will finally create that shroud of immersion around the player.
It would be cool to one day talk to your player wingman, then order your AI wingman to rejoin before requesting tasking by the AI JTAC, all by using in game radio without ever having to hit the F1-F12 keys and instead using your radios and HOTAS.
Having a more in depth ATC system would complement the system. With ground and air frequencies and legitimate taxii instructions and whatnot.
Of course this feature could be enabled/disabled by different servers depending on the host and it would encourage more players to learn radios and the radio communications procedures, not to mention the positive impact on maintaining a positive, professional community in-game.
and yes I would agree with keeping text based game chat in game, at the server host's discretion. I understand I'm asking for alot but I really do think it would drastically improve the simulation environment!
Thank you! :pilotfly:
