Please DCS add more callsign in mission editor
Airogue replied to paidapinga's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Looks like we are trying to tackle this effort now. If we can produce something stable and professional, maybe we can gift it to ED to include in the next official release, allowing "integrity checks" to pass. current topic discussion is here https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=3652067#post3652067 -
some additional resources I found: https://wiki.hoggitworld.com/view/DCS_command_setCallsign https://wiki.hoggitworld.com/view/DCS_enum_callsigns

sound good Backy. Can you post a list of the call signs you have done? I can try to record another voice of the same ones that way ATC and flight have different voices. I totally get the list problem. Maybe we should limit it to 25 of our favorites. Also, we can add new ones for ground and AWACs units. There must be a way to add voices specific to countries as well, like Sweeden's "Gator" as mentioned above. There is a french accent already... Here's a link to a zip file on my google drive for you to download some I've recorded if interested. https://drive.google.com/open?id=1lKs4rI3CJfhonNGD_Bkd4Bx5lOt2oNrn

First attempt success - Here is the simple work flow I tried. 1. Copied the two file names into the .lua - DCS World\Scripts\Database\DB_callnames.lua example: local callsignsAircraft = makeTable({_('Enfield'), 'Enfield', }, {_('Springfield'), 'Springfield',}, {_('Uzi'), 'Uzi', }, {_('Colt'), 'Colt', }, {_('Gator'), 'Gator', }, {_('Mako'), 'Mako', }, 2. copied the desired files that had matching names "Gator", "Mako", located in my documents folder 3. located every location that the US call signs were saved: DCSWorld\Sounds\Speech\Sound\ENG\Common then in each folder: Allied Flight ATC AWACS JTAC Player Tanker In side of each of those folders there is a "callsign" folder, except Allied Flight, that one has countries, then in the case of USA, 1; 2; 3; folders, for 3 different voices saying the same thing. 1, 2, 3, each have a callsign folder within them. Copy the audio file to each of those folders. I'll post corresponding images to each step for clarification. Upon finishing, I tested it in game. DCS didn't like SnagIt so I will find a way to get screenshots from in game, but to test I went to mission editor, created a F-5E flight, as player. The call sign list included Gator and Mako. I selected mako. I spawned in, and then called ATC for landing at Nellis. The player voice used my audio "Mako", then ATC's response used the same audio calling back "Mako", so it seemed like a solid test. Now, what did I break in the process haha... The fun part begins now, phase two, I need to create audio files with a more "similar" sound to the actual radio. I'd also like to change the tone so that ATC and flights don't sound identical.

Wow, I'm psyched about the response this has received. I think this would be a great project, and I don't mind providing recordings. I think it needs to be multi-phased, with the first iteration just being two new call signs. The number of files needing updating when just adding one can add up quick. It's easier, like Grimes said if you don't care if they sound different - and I think that's where we start. First audios I will use are Gator and Mako. I'm trained pilot, not a coder so I will see what I can fumble through haha. If anyone find a solid way, please post. I will also try to take a bunch of screen shots and share on here to create the discussions.

I found the individual folders for each, AWACS, Tankers, ATC, etc. I just didn't know what .lua to modifiy. It does suck that it would break integrity checks though. It makes it less adoptable without product release support. Would it be something the community could develop and maybe ED could test integration with a future release. I totally get they are resource strapped with other projects, but I see on a regular basis how this community supports the game through their own time and effort. Just a thought. And it's a win win for all parties. I'd want to record these to be a better "radio like" effect if it went official release, but I think we could come up with a list of an extra 30 to 40 new call signs that would really work well. Here are two resources. Community could even vote on their favs haha. http://www.udxf.nl/MCL.pdf -MILITARY CALLSIGN LIST as of 1 September 2018 http://www.the-guide.nl/callsign/ - 12000+ call signs from USA and Europe

Has anyone tackled this topic? I would like to add callsigns, and I recorded some new ones. I also found where they are all stored (quite a bit of overlap there too). But I'd like to make them select-able options with the AI able to call them out via the new wav files. I figure someone who's much smarter than I would have tackled this problem long ago. I also can't believe the callsign list hasn't grown. It seems simple enough. Attached is the list of call signs I recorded Current call sign list proposed - 14 OCT 2018 Original: New Addition possabilities: Ace Air Force American Angel Backy Badger Bandit Bogey Cannon Chaos Charger Cheetah Chief Chinook Coast Guard Cobra Commando Cowboy Crate Dagger Devil Dracula Eagle Falcon Gash Gassr (sp?) Anyone know if the "adding of call signs" has been tackled yet? I have been searching the forums with no clear answer. I have a list of call signs I've recorded, and have been working on a way to add them to the game. I'm not a coder so I'm learning as I go lol. you can see the list attached. I have more I'd love to add but this was a start. ironically I found that I added moonbeam and jaguar but they are already in game, so I removed them since.

Hard Drives not showing full size

BitMaster, thanks and I wanted to give an update. The rig works great. It takes no time loading, and game runs super smooth. I do think there may be a bottle neck in my bus speed, as I'm not able to run on the highest of settings (but that could be me under estimating my 1060). Either way, I'm pleased with the performance. Due to the graphics slightly lacking, I may build another rig and utilize this purely as a server (currently I've been playing on this one ;-) Also, I dropped one of the SSDs down to 3, and 2 6tb drives. The space is still fine, and I've got everything to run in raid now. -
Can you add aircraft to a country?
Airogue replied to HornetUK's topic in User Created Missions General
Glad to find this in the forums even if a bit old. Is there a list of the all the countries and the "code" used to apply it? For example AUS is used for Australia, UK for united kingdom. So is it RUS for Russia? What about Morocco or Tunisia? Could I just write "Russia" and it would also work? Thanks for the guidance. Btw, for clarification I'm trying to make skins for the Mirage 2000-C and F-5E. -
Hard Drives not showing full size

resolved - kinda... So I found a method that worked. I broke the drives up into 2TB or less partitions using Diskpart. This seems to have solved it, just not in the manner I would have liked. It allowed me to see the drives in Windows after "importing foreign drives". The partitions were there and I went one by one deleting and re-building them with windows. It will work for my needs. Now to get on with the installing of all my drivers and DCS itself. -
Hello everyone; A while back, I mentioned on here that I was taking on the challenge to build a server for DCS. The news that they are producing a "true" server function is awesome, and re-inspired my efforts to get this project finished (after moving my family, and new job has taken most of my time). I bought a few parts to build this system, and decided to add some storage capacity to make it useful as electronic storage when not hosting. The current set up: ASUS Z8NA‑D6 with Intel 5500/ICH10R ATX Motherboard 2x Intel XEON X5670 2.93Ghz, 6-core 6x 8GB 1333 (48gb total) GeForce GTX 1060 RaidMax 1200 PSU 4x 480 SSD (raid 5 through MoBo raid controller) - 1.3TB usable Windows 7 Ultimate What I added, 2x 6TB 7200rpm Toshiba X300 drives Problem: Each 6TB drives shows up as only 1.4TB in raid controller and in Windows. But in the BIOS screen it shows them as 6TB. I have tried to correct it by using Disk Part in CMD, but even that does not resolve it. I also made sure it was GPT. At this point, I am about to reinstall windows after disabling RAID, and seeing if I can force the drives in AHCI. If anyone can give me any additional options, or ideas, I am much appreciative. I am at a loss otherwise. I will post screenshots from my phone in the following post.

thank you. I guess I'll anxiously await a fix.

So I updated to 2.5 open beta and I have both the Nevada and caucus map loaded. However my multiplayer option in the main menu is grayed out and I can't click on it. I've only been able to do stand alone. I have no internet issues and I can't seem to figure out if there's a option to turn off multiplayer that I wasn't seeing since updating. Does anyone else have this problem and if so does anyone else have a solution?

anyone have a .diff of chuck's HOTAS configuration profile? And thank you, Chuck for these awesome tutorials. Life saver in both my Mig-21 and Mirage
-
I downloaded and installed Noid's profile for the M2000 (https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3035103/) and going through familiarization with it, I had no issues at first. Then I came in to land and everything fell apart. When I deployed my speed brakes (speed break switch on the Warthog Throttle), it seems to lock up all my other controls. I go back to neutral and they remain out, I then force back and it causes my counter measures to deploy only delayed, and the speed brakes retract and I gain control again. This whole time I was nosing over into earth at 500 feet up. It didn't end well. This does not happen when I use the keyboard to deploy the air brakes, and I believe it has to do with the macros used in the TARGET software to give all the profile's functionality. But it is unplayable in this condition. Anyone else have this error? Is there a solution? It seems like every command is delayed when I trigger it. If anyone has a copy of Chuck's profile configuration for the Mirage already saved, I'd happily use that.

thank you for the info and replies. Here is an image of both the modules I purchased (installed too and when) and the list of modules that have CD Keys available. See attached. I would understand if it was not a stand alone version, but I am still not sure why I would not have a CD key. I only own the NTTR map and M2000C in standalone, so the other modules that I bought, like campaigns that are not on the list are not in standalone but bought the same day. I assume it's just that steam doesn't get CD keys anymore.
-
I have a question that I could not locate anywhere in these forums. Maybe I'm the only one silly enough to do it lol I wanted to fly the NTTR map so bad being from Vegas that I bought it on stand alone, even though I prefer the steam ease of use. When it was released on steam recently, I supported Eagle Dynamics by purchasing it a second time. I did this for both the Mirage and NTTR map. Now, I don't have a steam CD key for either module. I can play them, so that is not a huge concern but just wondering why I would not have two keys since I bought it both stand alone and steam?

New (used) Multiplayer Server Rig
Airogue replied to Airogue's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
It's been a long while but I finally got the time from work and family to start assembly. I had to buy a new OSU (most expensive part of my build so far) but I got 1200w. After installing the processors, I've tried to find the correct cooling units but it's hard with dual processors so close together. I had to get those refurbished but original intel and not as cheap as I hoped. I was given a gtx 750ti that supposedly the fan refuses to spin so I will verify that then get a replacement if needed. -
I bought tge M2000 yesterday but I can not seem to turn on my covkpit tool tips/labels. I see videos with them working and mine are for the Mig-21. Anyone have any suggestions? I want to keep the French cockpit while learning each switch, and a reminder would be great (especially unlabeled switches).

New (used) Multiplayer Server Rig
Airogue replied to Airogue's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Thank you for the quick replies everyone. I did not know that about the RAM. So I need to buy another 2 pack of equal sticks? (totaling 6?) I was going to put DCS on the SSD, but incompatibility of the SSD concerns me. I don't think this board is terribly old, and the firmware/bios updates since may accept for the current tech (it's not like SSD are new this year, they were just too expensive before) The NAS side of the future additions are purely for file data, like pulling docs, photos, videos (not streaming per say, just grab and go). My job takes me all over the world, and I want a place to store it, and even download it while I have internet access to it. But be able to take the files off line to enjoy remotely. I know from previous years building that going cheap on the PSU can cost you your entire computer, so I was going cheap/used on everything except that. Hoe ever, the price point going from 750 to 1000 was significant, and since I know I'd need more like 1300 with all those NAS drives, I thought about up grading later. Should I just go with 1000 off the bat? So, back to the memory, I was not familiar with the ECC and registered, since this is server focused and I've only built PC's. That is all new to me, so I appreciate the guidance. I'm also not familiar with SRV, but I guess I have some studying to do. If you all think of anything else, I'm all ears so please keep the info flowing. I wouldn't doubt - like bitmaster said - others have thought about it, so maybe this thread can be educational to the other laymen like myself. S! O7 -
Hello all; I'm trying to put together a gaming server rig to host DCS multiplayer missions. I am trying to do this on a limited budget and wanted to get your opinion on my recent acquisitions. I'm trying to piece meal it, and I have no idea what I'm doing when it comes to servers (built many home desktops over the years). So I figured what better way than to just jump right in with both feet. I've purchased these three so far and looking for advice on the next steps. For instance, I have no idea the power consumption. The server should be running as close to 24/7 as I can. Mobo: ASUS Z8NA-D6 Dual LGA 1366 Intel 5500 ATX Dual Intel Xeon 5500 and 5600 Series Server Motherboard https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131389 CPU: Matched Pair Intel Xeon X5670 2.93GHz 12M Cache Hex Core Processor LGA1366 SLBV7 Ram: 32gb (4x 8gb) DDR3 1333 Registered ECC (machine is capable of 96gb registered) To buy list: 240GB SSD? Power supply (rating?) - I was thinking 750w to start? GPU - Geforce GT710? Not running this as a "game player" as I have my PC for that. Just a server host. cooling system? what would two 6 core processors need? ------------------- Future state, I want this server to also host a raid series of like 12TB (4x 6TB WD reds with with RAID 10 or 5) ------------------- Last but not least, operating system. I was thinking Windows 7 as that's what I use across the board for my computers currently. Any other suggestions? Thanks for all the info in advance. And of course, please ask away with the questions that I did not cover.
