BOX/DOWNLOAD VERSION 2,0 DIFFERENCE
deadsmell replied to SVK_Motas's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
So does that mean that even the retail disc version has a limited number of activations? -
DREAM ALERT!!!! DREAM ALERT!!!! DREAM ALERT!!! Just dreaming here, but I think it would be really cool, if at some point in the DCS series, Rescue and Recovery operations could be implemented. Pilot punches out, lands, waits for rescue. I think it would be really cool. This could be implemented as either an AI function, or have a an installment that includes a flyable rescue chopper, or both :) (i know i would fly rescue operations online anyway) Shot down pilot could deploy smoke when the chopper is near of course....perhaps. Servers could have rules that make it so ejected pilot has to wait for rescue...........and it could have some sort of time limit over ride, where if rescue doesnt come within a specified time limit, the pilot then gets the option to rcvr, or whatever. Ok I better stop myself there. Edit: Also for the sake of players, the return trip would not be necessary, once the rescue chopper successfully locates and lands near pilot, the pilot will be automatically restarted back at the base. This would cut down on players rescue wait time by sending them back to base once rescue arrives, and also keeping the rescue chopper in the area of operations longer since it does not have to transport pilots all the way back to base upon rescue. NERD ALERT OVER!!!

I could be wrong, but I think the trackir nullifies the padlock function.

Hey Coff, I like the music, if anything, I kind of wish there was more of it. Maybe in the future it could have a few songs that it cycles through, or maybe have an option for people who like certain songs over the other to be able to have only the songs they like play. Count me in for wanting more Music!! Im really enjoying 2.0, I think its great. I havent seen anyone mention the missions yet so ill do it. The missions are fantastic. Challenging, exciting, and just plain fun!

^^ Thanks! Looks pretty cool!
-
Yeah Im sure. Try orbiting at a safe distance from the combat area, and allow your wingman to start calling out targets. After he has called out a few, try cycling through them again. You will be able to cycle to the targets he has identified. or even in quick flight, those first few targets, you can cycle through the three of them right from the start.

Hey Viper, would you mind posting a screen or two of the changes made to the impact area? Dust/smoke etc.

When ending a mission, and pressing "quit", the game crashes. heres some crash files from my temp folder. Ok heres the crash and error files: Crashes.zip

Pretty cool reading. Thanks.

This happened to me a couple nights ago......... I flew all the way back to base like this, LMAO the whole the way. I know someone else posted that they managed a wingless RTB in the F-15, but this is no F-15. Anyway thought you guys might be interested. Also please note in the last image, you can see the difference in the water textures. It seems to bug out the water in overcast weather conditions. Thanks.

Ok I see you opened the mission with the editor to show me those units. That never occurred to me . That works for me, I can get the information I need that way when im having trouble. THANK YOU for your help. :)
-
Bingo, lol ok, there it is. THANK YOU!! That makes sense now. It was just something I was wondering, and then I couldnt figure it out, so it started eating away at me. Thank you very much. It seems that once my wingman lands, hes done for the day. Is that correct? So if i want him to stay airborne while I patch up, or refuel or re-arm or whatever, i just tell him to vector to a waypoint. Thank You Again!! Im really happy now that I know that lol.

Hopefully in the future there will be more in depth briefings? Its something I have always felt was lacking in the lockon/DCS campaigns. A picture and a few sentences arent really much to go on. Sometime people like me, like to have a very specific idea of what im tasked with. There is even a mission I played last night that said my primary target is "tubes/self propelled artillery". Thats all fine and dandy, but a specific model of the target unit, seems like it would be in order as well. If it was clearly indicated what my target is, I could consult the the encyclopedia, get a picture of it, and have an idea of what im looking for. Not all of us know everything there is to know about all military hardware. :) Im not ashamed to admit it. Just a hopeful suggestion, thanks again.

Let me try to clarify: When flying the A-10 in A2G mode, on the HUD some targets will have a "Diamond" indicating their position. These targets can be cycled by pressing the left cntrl + ` keys. After landing during a mission, and then returning to the combat area, all those diamond targets are no longer highlighted. Now I have searched through all the documentation, searching for keyword "diamond" and to be honest, it doesnt really cover the information im after. I would like to know why those targets have a diamond, (I was under the impression that they were being lazed by another support group of some kind), and why that diamond goes away after landing and returning to the target area. It is an active part of the simulation, not a scripted part of the missions "story" or "plot" or whatever you want to call it. Something is actively designating those targets for some reason, and then after landing, they are no longer designated.

lol, k thanks.

Thanks Wags, I tried using F-10 view to see if the targets were visible on the map, but they werent. Are they supposed to be? Because I have noticed that not all units are indicated on the map in F-10 view. In fact there seems to be alot of units that arent indicated on the map in F-10 view.

I have a question. I have noticed that after landing during a mission for repairs, re-arm, or refuel, when I take off again, and re-enter the target area, if there was an awacs, or other support group helping me in the mission, they seem to be gone when I get back to the target area. theres no communication from them, and none of the targets that were being lazed prior to landing, are being lazed when I get back to the area. Is this a bug, or is it supposed to be that way?
-
Thanks for the reply, Yeah roger that, I nailed every target out there. Every fuel truck, every tank. everything. Theres even some more targets further east, and another group a bit north, and I destroyed all those two, but it never says mission complete. Did the mission give you a mission complete message? Ill try again later.

Hey Guys, Im having a problem in one of the A-10 campaign missions. Its the second or third mission. My task is to destroy some sort of "logistics center" located 7 clicks east of the abandoned airfield near waypoint 4. I have destroyed every enemy unit in the entire area, and im still not getting mission complete. I have flown this mission several times, and I keep failing because I guess I am not getting the "Logistics center". Im telling you though, every identifiable target in the entire area is destroyed. Entire towns have been leveled in an effort to find this dang "logistic center". I spent at least two hours (probably longer, maybe close to three) on this last attempt trying to figure this thing out, and the only enemy forces remaining in the area seem to be some sam sites that are located farther north. To my knowledge they are not mission critical targets, And ive been avoiding engaging them. Anyway its bounced me back to the previous mission in the campaign again because I cant figure what this "logistics center" is. Ive checked in the "Encyclopedia" in the game, and there is no building or vehicle called "logistics center". I checked out all of Beachav8r's posts on his campaign, but it looks like he had some different missions than my campaign. Also, "pointer" does not directly laze this target, he just tells you the general area where it is. Is there a time limit or something? If anyone can shed some light on this i would appreciate it. Edit: The campaign is awesome, id just like to progress to the next mission.

Dont mean to get off topic, but I just read your post about using notepad to edit files........... I just edited my graphics .cfg using notepad..........and saved it.......... Am I screwed now?

@ Mastiff, Ram seems fine, i checked the performance through the task manager, and running the game uses alot of ram, almost all of it lol, i think last time i checked the game was using around 1.7 or so gigs of the 2 gigs I have installed. I dont have any virtual ram that im aware of. Of course: What I DONT know about computers, could probably fill a library of books. :) I have an older GPU in the closet somewhere, I thought about maybe giving it a try, but I have not tried it yet. I think at least for a day or so, I just want to play lol.
