  1. I see - things like new netcode and I imagine any new visual effects like weapons (but not aircraft models - I'm guessing that will be done with a less detailed placeholder so they can appear in multiplayer but people can't fly the full version by tweaking files about) the new package needs will be available.
  2. Ah right, fair enough. I knew that (obviously) you wouldn't get the new aircraft without buying the new package, but was just wondering about new engine tweaks, rendering updates, that kind of thing. I had every intention on buying the new packages as soon as they came out anyway :D Just waiting for the english boxed version of BS.
  3. Am I right in thnking that any engine upgrades in subsequent packages will be made available to anyone who has bought previous packages?
  4. Maybe something to add in an update would be maybe a permanent record of 'friendly/enemy' online kills, and a server admin could specify a threshold below which you're prevented from entering. That way it would let you hit a few accidentally, stopping simple newbs (different from noobs ;) ) from being barred but should bar the people who are just out to cause trouble.
  5. As far as I'm aware it's the fact that you're going very fast, combined with very high loads on the rotors, which causes them to collide. At low speeds, both cone by similar amounts, but at high speed, the retreating blade 'bites' the air less (because its speed through the air is less - the blade's speed minus your forward speed) meaning the rotor cones more on one side. Because the two rotors spin in opposite directions, you get the high cone on opposite sides for each rotor, so eventually they touch, with appropriately disatrous consequences. Knowing that - slow down or don't turn so hard and you should stop it happening.
  6. Should work fine with TrackIR as it's just interpreting the pointing as mouse clicks.
  7. No, not the way you said it, I mean that given all the technology of the Ka-50's aiming and weapons computers, dropping bombs is best done by just leaning out of the window :D
  8. Once they get the new engine, where trees offer proper cover then I'd play as a helicopter regularly.
  9. Thanks, that clears everything up :)
  10. Is the TrackClip Pro nothing more than the reflective frame and a boom mic combined into one so you don't have to wear the hat, or does it do anything a bit more clever?
  11. Ah right. I can't see the picture as the host's blocked at work.
  12. It's not a vintage fighter, it's a modern aerobatic aircraft :smilewink:
  13. Even this one? :P http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sukhoi_Su-26
  14. Why would they lose out on a sale? You still have to buy the English or the Russian version. I imagine they haven't assumed everyone will buy two copies.. :P
  15. I imagine this will get fixed in a future update (the 'core game' updates are free if you've bought at least one module remember). I see the DCS games as a work-in-progress you can buy into rather than a set of finished products. I'd rather the star of the show (the KA-50) was done to perfection than them spread their resources making everything a tiny bit better to the detriment of the player's aircraft.
  16. I think you'd have to have AI taking over and controlling any armament that didn't have a player handling it, to avoid the neccesary but 'less fun' things being ignored (such as a SAM site - very important, but most will want to drive or fly things). It'd also add a bit more risk and fun to a game as you wouldn't know whether a particular emplacement or vehicle was AI-driven or another player so you'd have to work out how to approach it.
  17. I do love the way a simple use of options lets you choose between 'arcade' and 'full on sim with beards'. Someone needs to make a time machine, go back 10 years and tell Codemasters about this before they started the 'Race Driver' series. GRiD would be an amazing game if it whoever coded the handling had actually driven a car, ever.
  18. If you want a car-sim that drives ultra-realistically, try Live For Speed: http://www.lfs.net
  19. Mod the FD files so the turboshafts point backwards, the rotors have no drag and the stub wings provide more lift - problem solved! :D
  20. F-15 Strike Eagle II on the Amiga. Played that to death :D
  21. Excellent :D You'd have to hope that the hit that caused you to eject in the first place hadn't damaged the rotor-jettison mechanism
  22. I searched but didn't see a similar thread. Is the Ka-50's ejector seat modelled? The one that blows the rotor blades off then shoots you out once they're gone? It'd take balls to use that :D
