Nice, really smart as well. even if they aren't in the correct pos. for start up, they will at least correspond with the screen, i like it, i like it a lot actually. (and it didn't kill me either )

it killed the cat apparently but i'm very curious about the "automatic switch alignment" pic or video, why choose, we want it all :)

Multi-Monitors in DCS? Easy
Swetrekki replied to smokyrain's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
tnx cyberkut, i had a look earlier since i posted, at most of the threads you menitoned here. what i forgot was to erase the question, but thank you anyway for a very good answer, hopefully others will find it handy aswell. it seems like windowed mode is the only way to solve it, i was kind of hoping for another solution... oh well -
Multi-Monitors in DCS? Easy
Swetrekki replied to smokyrain's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Well finally got a copy of DCS as it was released in stores here in sweden this week. now i just have to get abris and Schval to be displayed on my old 19" 4:3 monitor while the camera view is on my 24" wide... needless to say they are not using the same res, and i REALLY dont want to lower the res. on my 24"... i have seen screenshots on the forum where ppl have abris and schval on another monitor windowed. any clue how this is done? // swetrekki edit : running an Nvidia 9800gtx btw if that matters -
i have TIR4 but i had a bit of an issue with the new ver.5 driver the axis was not responding properly, (looking up it also turned to the left) they might have sorted that now though, i just kept using the version 4 software... i think i will go and have a look at there page now and see if there is an update. Edit. with the new beta (.04) version it looks alot better. so go for it!

joystick and throttle physical position
Swetrekki replied to spike2450's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
here is how i solved it, (ill post a pic when i get the websrv up and running again) remove the armrest of your chair, build a L shaped bracket from wooden, and secure it to the chair. Fasten the stick and throttle to the brackets and your all set. it works like a charm :) even tough the wife's friends is having a bit of a laugh at it... -
Man, you have to create a set of drawings, that is a great build with a very high Wife Acceptance Factor. awesome job!

well etherealN, luckily for us swedes there is always the "internet" ;)
-
what? where have you been hiding all this from us, or are you the fastest builder in the world? Looks amazing and i like the idea with the usb lighting, simple and it works, GOOD JOB! I wouldn't dare tell my wife, that's why I'm building in modules ;)

Well since i don't actually own a copy of the game yet (still waiting for them to release it in stores here in Sweden, *wink wink ED ) i cant confirm anything with any tests, but it seems unlikely that the game recalibrate the electronics in the pedals. But it should be pretty easy to test i would emagine (please note that i don't have the software and might be "full of shit" in saying that it would be "easy") by just rigging up a leo card and some trim resistors and see how it acts ingame? And as far as a magnetic brake solution, just have a half circle shaped plate run through a slot with a electro magnet clamping down brake disks on to the plate (like a disc brake system on a car). as long as you have enough leverage you could probably stand on the pedal with out beeing able to move it. Please dont get me wrong Trigger, I really hope you get your setup working because it is just so cool!!!, but it might be worth exploring...
-
hmmm perhaps a more Russian solution to future pedals would be better, less complicated that is.. I just thought of this and im not trying to correct anyone or anything like that. But why do you need FFB, wouldn't it be enough to lock the pedals at will (from the game or from a button, like forinstance making use of that magnetic brake you got from that electronics store trigger ? Build it so that you can lock the pedals in position and release them with a push of the trim button? Am i missing a part of the force feed back aspect here or wouldn't that work? //swetrekki

that collective stick is looking "quite" sturdy. your gooing to have to try hard to break that one ;) nice work as usual. love to hear mor about the shval monitor!!! -
Oakes, i see a problem in your design... it looks TO GOOD! it's more space shuttle rather than "Brutal russian war machine" :P frigging awsome work! I gotta get my mill converted soon...

Saitek cockpit instruments
Swetrekki replied to 4c Hajduk Veljko's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Solution is obvious, host a server for the pitbuilders on this forum. the god thing is that the "narrower" the game is the less ppl are likely to cheat. I really only play one game online now a days and that is the PR mod to BF2. And while every kid out there cheats in BF2 there arent that many (obvious at least) in the PR community. and dare i say it, i don't think that there are any in the pit builder forum... Cheating only fools the one person, the cheater. He will only realise that he's not good enough on his own... -
Saitek cockpit instruments
Swetrekki replied to 4c Hajduk Veljko's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
your forgetting switches and open cockpit card to manage the inputs. One box can display all the instruments... so for the ones that are building a deskpit i guess these are just what the good doctor ordered :) -
Seperate Throttle - Recommendations?
Swetrekki replied to spudmonkey's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I dont know if anyone sell just a throttle (unless your willing to spend big bucks). I'd recommend buying an old one off ebay and fitting it with a USB conversion card from leo bodnar. order a hall sensor while your at it and just use a epoxi or hot melt glue to fix a magnet to the moving part. like this one for instance, if you wanna go A10'ing later on http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SUNCOM-SFS-SPLIT-THROTTLE-Flight-Simulator-Joystick_W0QQitemZ310141442863QQcmdZViewItemQQptZPCA_Joysticks_Game_Controllers?hash=item310141442863&_trksid=p3286.m63.l1177 -
