  1. Not that this is actually important (I don't need a reminder on the launcher to buy modules, I do it anyway willingly jejejeje) but this issue still happens (bump)
  2. Do you still have the issue with mirrors or is it only me? I've check again just in case. I use profiles "Custom 3" for VR and "Custom 2" for pancake. Mirros get always disabled after changing profile. I was playing VR in Custom 3, I have manually check mirrors on settings, exit DCS and start he launcher again, click "Save" on Custom 3. When starting DCS mirros are on. After I change to Custom 2 mirrors are unchecked. I check it and then save Custom 2. Again after switching to Custom 3, mirrors are disabled. EDIT: attached custom profiles. There are no mirror settings on either of them I think. EDIT2: only happens for mirrors now for me, easy comms was fixed I don't think it is related, but I also have another bug where I do not see all available modules to buy Custom3.luaCustom2.lua
  3. +1 Just here to say my experience has been the same, great improvement and no stutters so far on the same mission. VRAM usage reduzed has been the key for me it seems.
  4. Yep, I know, totally stupid. However, after many years I have taught myself not to defy the Computers God's placebo effect It has absolutetly no effect, but I'm following the "if aint broke, don't fix it" rule. The same with the fast vsync value, since vsync is off on DCS it probably has no actual effect...
  5. Only 8GB i9700k, 64GB @3200 ram, rtx3070, 2TB m2. I play vr with G2 in windows10
  6. Just in case anyone want to try, I have experienced another performance gain (this is by no means a fix, but at least performance is "not as bad") rescaling all textures using Zbysiek script I've just played a pretty rutine and boring CAS retribution mission on the A10CII in Sinai with no stutters!! And it has been the most awesome flight I've had in months in DCS XD To summarize, tricks that had improved performance for my (in VR with i9700k, 64GB@3200, rtx3700, 2TB m.2). Some might perfectly be placebo and I don't really know which one actually do have any effect. * 64GB static pagefile on the same m.2 drive that DCS (OS installed on a regular SSD) * Fast VSync on NVidia control panel * Rescaled textures * Affinity core trick * Obviously reducing the number of units on my custom missions and remove OH6A gunner script... null
  7. Thanks a lot! In my case I did experience a performance gain, I've been able to play the very same retribution CAS mission that before the texture optimization caused stutters while close to ground units and while landing back on the airbase.
  8. I don't know about his, but you can look at a lot of bug reports with specs, trackfiles, testing missions, etc. in the Game performance bug section https://forum.dcs.world/forum/483-game-performance-bugs/, reporting problems aggravated in the last patches since 2.9.5. The main results of these issues are that now DCS seems to be able to handle a lot less units (specifically ground units seems to affect the most), which has rendered many awesome paid campaigns unplayable. and they also affect servers (with no rendering) being unable to handle the same mission they were hosting before. Is summary, the very same mission file in 2.9.5 runs buttery smoth, but in recent patches in a stuttery mess. Of course it does not affect very light-loaded missions with few units (but since this is DCS and we love it for the awesome war sandbox it provides, flying missions without content, just flying from point A to point B is not interesting enough and we have civil sims for that) This is the main thread where it is discussed and there are messages from Bignewy acknowledging the issues and saying they are working on it. So lets hope this is true and next patches addresses these issues and not just remove the last working version I assume changes just need more fine-tunning and after the past months from the last major update problems will be fixed and we will be back, as it had happened before. In paralel there is the issue of un-optimized textures, and having a huge difference between older aircraft and cockpit textures of ~300MB and newer ones of +3.4GB. This makes a huge difference where we must downgrade texture resolution from high to medium for example to fly the Chinook, and visuals are awesome, but at the same time older models such as the Huey in that lower resolution are almost unreadable. Again, my message is by no means a critizism, just trying to expose the problems that we face right now. Of course many players with state-of-the-art hardware do not notice them, but we are just raising the issue that medium hardware (myself is i9700k, 64GB@3200, rtx3700, 2TB m.2, w10, G2 for vr) that work buttery smoth on 2.9.5 can not run the same missions on 2.9.7, and that we are only having issues with DCS, every other sim keeps running buttery smoth. So I do hope this new update means fixed are deployed and ST is removed so all resources can be put to "restore the best combat simulator we have to its glory"
  9. That's great news! Assuming this progress is yet to be deployed and does not refer to the current state ^^
  10. Please, do not de-rail this We all understand your point of view, the sim runs fine for you. Lets all agree we are happy for you and stop the discussion ^^ And for the rest of us, we have made our point of view clear, there are in fact problems that are been worked on. There is no need to convince people who disagree with us, we only need to make ED aware (which they are) and if we find anything worth sharing to clarify the issues even more, share it.
  11. Guys, the issues have been acknowledge by ED. There is no point on discussing it. Yes, there are issues. In a 10-pages post of people sharing the very same problem and marked as "investigating" there is no point on saying "nah, it is your fault!! if works for me!!". As we have said several times answering to this kind of posts: yes, we know we can downgrade and that it is normal that as the sim upgrades our systems do get obsolete. That is not the point of the thread, the point is there have been a huge performance drop. You can read the previous 10 pages and ED's posts acknoledging it and saying they are working on it if your are bored. Just my 2 cents. Don't wanna see this thread closed due to non-sense off-topic discussions

  13. Yes, it affects all of us, but if you have a system powerful enough you may not notice it. Texture size is huge, cockpit texture's size is one order of magnitude higher that other modules'. You can downgrade your texture settings in graphic settings (or manually compress texture files yourself, so you don't have to change texture settings each time you want to fly the CH47. Just downgrading[..]\DCS World\CoreMods\aircraft\CH-47F\Textures\ch-47f textures at 50% gives me a compressed size of 231MB from the original 1.5GB with 0 visual change for me. Downgrading the cockpit textures at 50% reduces size from 3.5GB to 421MB, but it does create artifacts for me)
  14. Yeah, if you downgrade the graphics settings to a certain threshold depending on each one's hardware you can avoid stutters. That is not what we are reporting on this thread, what we are reporting is in fact that we have to downgrade the graphics settings a lot to play the very same mission with the very same quality we could play it before the update. And obviously we do not have any 100% certainty here, but most of our tests tend to show this is directly related to the sim being unable to handle the same number of units than before. Please do understand our frustration with posts of the type "it works for me, have you tried to downgrade?", yes, we have, but that is not what we are showcasting in this thread. Probably if we all buy a new rig with a state of the art hardware the stutter will be solve too, but what we are reporting is that while it is normal that the sim requires higher and newer hardware over time, we are experiencing a huge jump since the lasts updates. EDIT: and also, what it is more worrysome for some people (myself included), awesome campaign missions such as the ones by Reflected are now not enjoyable due to this
  15. I disabled OpenXRToolkit since it gave me worse performance
  16. Of course it is not always DCS, we are mixing several problems not related with the sim itself: caused by mods (OH6H gunner script, for example), the mouse high polling rate bug, "unoptimized settings" (we are doomed to have to study regularly all the lattest posts and updates about our graphic's card drivers in order to play), and sometimes bad designed missions (we all make mistakes while programming lua code in order to make our missions a little bit spicy). But it is obvious there are also issues caused by DCS itself such as the huge filesize of textures (the CH47F for example, but there might be more? https://forum.dcs.world/topic/356550-normal-maps-roughmet-and-flir-texture-sizes/#comment-5508632), some sort of memory miss-management (why do you have to restart the sim in order to change maps? If you launch a mission in Sinai and then another one on Kola there are stutter, if you close DCS and open it again, and launch the same Kola mission, it is smooth), and obviously something related to pathfinding, or detection, or God-knows-what related to units making the very same mission that works flawlesly in 2.9.5 does not from 2.9.6 up (having removed the already known bugged mods and scripts) I at least, being a software engineer myself, appreciate all the effort and know how hard it is to properly test software taking into account the huge diversity of hardware and how stupid we users are creating problems ourselves (even more with the freedom DCS gives us being able to use custom code to build missions and allowing custom mods) in manners a developer would have never though. But please, do not overlook the core problems just because they can be overcome with "horse power" throwing more money into people's setups (unless the business model is focused only on whales who can spend it). PS: ok, having cried a little bit with this post, I shall return to that thing called "the outside world". At least being unable to fly is making me spend less time on the computer
  17. Yep, everything is excluded (isn't it?) And yes, looking in the task manager there is a DCS process running. it seems it is the DCS launcher that takes a lot of time closing (but only after that wierd long-time login) null
  18. nullSometimes when I start the launcher it takes a lot of time to log me in (several minutes). And when finally logged in, when I launch DCS it shows this message for around 1 minute. It seems (looking the task manager) that the launcher is not properly closed? Or maybe something has not been property released after the last time I closed DCS? After that, game starts fine. This only happens (so far) when I have been launching and closing DCS many times in a row (while testing different graphics settings) EDIT: both problems happens always at the same time. When login has been slow, the zombie copy popup appears, one never shows without the other

    Radios?

Mmm I cannot confirm right now 119.X, but 118.X does work. I can perfectly talk with Bodo ATC at 118.300 EDIT: yep, it works. Screeshots showing Kemi Tornio at 119.400 clearing me to taxi. I have disabled easy communications, might that be your problem? null
  20. Darcaem

    Radios?

You can use at least the VHF frequencies of the ATC with the radio located in the central panel at pilot's left. Volume is quite low even at maximum level (I may be missing something, I only turn the radio's volume knob to the maximum right level)
  21. While I do agree with all of you regarding having a break from DCS hoping this will be solved (in my case "that other civil sim" instead of "that other F16 sim"), please we should avoid making this thread off-topic, since it could be closed. And the last thing we need right now is all these threads and comments of people having troubles being deleted
  22. I have the same core distribution in a i9700k, 0-3 render cores and 4-7 common cores, IO cores empty. But I assume this is in fact correct, in my case I do not have performance nor efficiency specific cores, so it assigns half to each task, all have the same performance so no matter which core are assign no what
  23. I have it on (fast) within Nvidia and off ingame (in VR. When I edit missions on pancake I have it on, but then I have 0 stutters and perfect performance). Also, "Full screen" enabled seems to give me a little bit less stutter. But I do think this is totally system dependent, and what works for someone does not for anyone else So we can only test everything
  24. Exactly... I used to play DCS because it allowed me to create awesome scenarios. But if the one way I have to fly in DCS now is to start up a cold Hornet from airbase A and land on airbase B, in an empty map... quite frankly, I do prefer fly the super hornet in "that other sim". The flight model is worse, there is no comparison in systems modeled and capabilities, but since I cannot even use those system, at least I have better terrain graphics...
  25. nullThe launcher does not shown all modules I own. This happens after a fresh reinstall, I uninstalled DCS, deleted a couple of zombie files remaining and the folder, and then installed again from scratch. In the launcher I can only see those modules, but I've been able to install and use all my purchased modules without problem from the menu inside the game (where they do show up) EDIT: also, in the store page I also see only a couple of items per page
