  2. Yes, it affects all of us, but if you have a system powerful enough you may not notice it. Texture size is huge, cockpit texture's size is one order of magnitude higher that other modules'. You can downgrade your texture settings in graphic settings (or manually compress texture files yourself, so you don't have to change texture settings each time you want to fly the CH47. Just downgrading[..]\DCS World\CoreMods\aircraft\CH-47F\Textures\ch-47f textures at 50% gives me a compressed size of 231MB from the original 1.5GB with 0 visual change for me. Downgrading the cockpit textures at 50% reduces size from 3.5GB to 421MB, but it does create artifacts for me)
  3. Yeah, if you downgrade the graphics settings to a certain threshold depending on each one's hardware you can avoid stutters. That is not what we are reporting on this thread, what we are reporting is in fact that we have to downgrade the graphics settings a lot to play the very same mission with the very same quality we could play it before the update. And obviously we do not have any 100% certainty here, but most of our tests tend to show this is directly related to the sim being unable to handle the same number of units than before. Please do understand our frustration with posts of the type "it works for me, have you tried to downgrade?", yes, we have, but that is not what we are showcasting in this thread. Probably if we all buy a new rig with a state of the art hardware the stutter will be solve too, but what we are reporting is that while it is normal that the sim requires higher and newer hardware over time, we are experiencing a huge jump since the lasts updates. EDIT: and also, what it is more worrysome for some people (myself included), awesome campaign missions such as the ones by Reflected are now not enjoyable due to this
  4. I disabled OpenXRToolkit since it gave me worse performance
  5. Of course it is not always DCS, we are mixing several problems not related with the sim itself: caused by mods (OH6H gunner script, for example), the mouse high polling rate bug, "unoptimized settings" (we are doomed to have to study regularly all the lattest posts and updates about our graphic's card drivers in order to play), and sometimes bad designed missions (we all make mistakes while programming lua code in order to make our missions a little bit spicy). But it is obvious there are also issues caused by DCS itself such as the huge filesize of textures (the CH47F for example, but there might be more? https://forum.dcs.world/topic/356550-normal-maps-roughmet-and-flir-texture-sizes/#comment-5508632), some sort of memory miss-management (why do you have to restart the sim in order to change maps? If you launch a mission in Sinai and then another one on Kola there are stutter, if you close DCS and open it again, and launch the same Kola mission, it is smooth), and obviously something related to pathfinding, or detection, or God-knows-what related to units making the very same mission that works flawlesly in 2.9.5 does not from 2.9.6 up (having removed the already known bugged mods and scripts) I at least, being a software engineer myself, appreciate all the effort and know how hard it is to properly test software taking into account the huge diversity of hardware and how stupid we users are creating problems ourselves (even more with the freedom DCS gives us being able to use custom code to build missions and allowing custom mods) in manners a developer would have never though. But please, do not overlook the core problems just because they can be overcome with "horse power" throwing more money into people's setups (unless the business model is focused only on whales who can spend it). PS: ok, having cried a little bit with this post, I shall return to that thing called "the outside world". At least being unable to fly is making me spend less time on the computer
  6. Yep, everything is excluded (isn't it?) And yes, looking in the task manager there is a DCS process running. it seems it is the DCS launcher that takes a lot of time closing (but only after that wierd long-time login) null
  7. nullSometimes when I start the launcher it takes a lot of time to log me in (several minutes). And when finally logged in, when I launch DCS it shows this message for around 1 minute. It seems (looking the task manager) that the launcher is not properly closed? Or maybe something has not been property released after the last time I closed DCS? After that, game starts fine. This only happens (so far) when I have been launching and closing DCS many times in a row (while testing different graphics settings) EDIT: both problems happens always at the same time. When login has been slow, the zombie copy popup appears, one never shows without the other

    Radios?

Mmm I cannot confirm right now 119.X, but 118.X does work. I can perfectly talk with Bodo ATC at 118.300 EDIT: yep, it works. Screeshots showing Kemi Tornio at 119.400 clearing me to taxi. I have disabled easy communications, might that be your problem? null

    Radios?

You can use at least the VHF frequencies of the ATC with the radio located in the central panel at pilot's left. Volume is quite low even at maximum level (I may be missing something, I only turn the radio's volume knob to the maximum right level)
  10. While I do agree with all of you regarding having a break from DCS hoping this will be solved (in my case "that other civil sim" instead of "that other F16 sim"), please we should avoid making this thread off-topic, since it could be closed. And the last thing we need right now is all these threads and comments of people having troubles being deleted
  11. I have the same core distribution in a i9700k, 0-3 render cores and 4-7 common cores, IO cores empty. But I assume this is in fact correct, in my case I do not have performance nor efficiency specific cores, so it assigns half to each task, all have the same performance so no matter which core are assign no what
  12. I have it on (fast) within Nvidia and off ingame (in VR. When I edit missions on pancake I have it on, but then I have 0 stutters and perfect performance). Also, "Full screen" enabled seems to give me a little bit less stutter. But I do think this is totally system dependent, and what works for someone does not for anyone else So we can only test everything
  13. Exactly... I used to play DCS because it allowed me to create awesome scenarios. But if the one way I have to fly in DCS now is to start up a cold Hornet from airbase A and land on airbase B, in an empty map... quite frankly, I do prefer fly the super hornet in "that other sim". The flight model is worse, there is no comparison in systems modeled and capabilities, but since I cannot even use those system, at least I have better terrain graphics...
  14. nullThe launcher does not shown all modules I own. This happens after a fresh reinstall, I uninstalled DCS, deleted a couple of zombie files remaining and the folder, and then installed again from scratch. In the launcher I can only see those modules, but I've been able to install and use all my purchased modules without problem from the menu inside the game (where they do show up) EDIT: also, in the store page I also see only a couple of items per page
  15. You will see many threads on this section complaining about this. It appeaed a couple of updates ago, it went from running smothly to a stuttery mess. You can downgrade considerable your graphics settings and it will improve, but there was definitively something introduced since 2.9.6 that made playing DCS without a state of the art pc unbearable
  16. +1 to this. But in my case, usually the main page runs smothly at 90fps (I have modified sceneVR.lua to remove the background) but when I enter settings or mission menu the stutter appears and fps goes out ot the window
  17. Exactly. But in my tests it does give me 5-10fps (and the mirror imagen appears in a small screen instead of a 100% height column window) No, I'm using G2 with i9700, 64GB ram @3200, rtx3070 Exactly again (according to what I've always read and common knowledge), vsync should be off in VR... my bet is that this is somehow managing the frame queue, stabilizing the number of frames actually been worked on. I have no idea why it does improve for me, but it does. I'm just sharing the result of my tests is case anyone else wants to try
  18. Just wanted to share this in case it works for anyone else. nullSetting Vsync to "Fast" in NVidia control panel has improved significantly my gameplay in VR. The FPS remain the same, but I do have way less stutter. I still have some stutter in the mission I used to play before 2.9.6 (a sandbox mission in Syria with custom scripting and many statics and units) that used to work smothly but was now unplayable... Other sandbox missions I made in Kola and Afghanistan are now stutter-free (fingers-crossed), so at least I have some hope now Edit: unrelated, but reducing resolution in the first DCS setting does seem to improve 5-10 fps. I know, it has no sense, since I play in VR with "Use DCS system resolution" option checked... but I do swear it has improve in my system
  19. Please do share your findings. I also have the same feeling as you, but so far I have not been able to discern which specific unit or static makes the difference Edit: BTW, I did read somewhere on the forum a couple of weeks ago that the door gunner hook script for the OH6A was causing problems, and deleting it was a huge improvement (the problem persists, but it did make a difference). It is located in [..]\DCS\Scripts\Hooks
  20. Related to this... Has anyone had this weird feeling that there is a certain degree of "randomness" in the performance since the latest patches? I mean, the very same mission, the very same specs. the very same NVidia panel config... and sometimes performance is acceptable, but the next session in unplayable again. On the other hand, I do feel I am going a little bit crazy lately with all this performance issues XD
  21. Thanks!! I thought TACAN was not implemented yet Turns out the only problem is that there is no indication that there is a clickable submenu on the CNI page for TACAN, but you can press the 2nd left button to access the TCN control page and activate T/R there
  22. You only need to map the Bob engage/disengage toggle. I usually take off and start follwing my route, and when I'm more or lees in stable flight at around 100-130 knots "pass the control" to Bob Also, check this post on how to ask bob for changes on the flight profile
  23. I thought the same yesterday when some insurgent fired against my CH47F but hit the wall... and the wall was lit on fire. Incendiary bullets or something I guess PS: dust for civil vehicules would look cool!
  24. I was checking the log and I have seen I have 323 errors only of this type. It would seem the CH47F is trying to reference files from the AH46D (which I do not own) 2024-08-12 21:48:36.150 ERROR ED_SOUND (Main): can't open proto file "/sounds/32/sdef/aircrafts/ah-64d/cockpit/betty/_betty.sdef" 2024-08-12 21:48:36.150 ERROR ED_SOUND (Main): failed to load sdef Aircrafts/AH-64D/Cockpit/Betty/_Betty referenced in /sounds/32/sdef.tar:Aircrafts/CH-47/Cockpit/Betty/ASE LINES NORMAL_01_LAUNCH.sdef There are also a lot more errors after that. I've attached a couple of logs in my custom sandbox mission and also a log of the "Raunway start" instant action in Afghanistan (the log with a filesize of 212KB) It does not crash, and I doubt the horrible FPS are even related to this. Just reporting in case it should be fixed, since there are hundreds of log entries with this error dcs.log dcs.log.old dcs.log
  25. Well, technically in my case I do not have a fix, I just tried to resize the textures that in this particular model weights a lot more than other aircrafts. I imagine this textures would be awesome for 8K in supercomputers, but since I cannot see them anyways...
