Vertical sync = fast -> much less stutter in VR
Darcaem replied to Darcaem's topic in Game Performance Bugs
Exactly. But in my tests it does give me 5-10fps (and the mirror imagen appears in a small screen instead of a 100% height column window) No, I'm using G2 with i9700, 64GB ram @3200, rtx3070 Exactly again (according to what I've always read and common knowledge), vsync should be off in VR... my bet is that this is somehow managing the frame queue, stabilizing the number of frames actually been worked on. I have no idea why it does improve for me, but it does. I'm just sharing the result of my tests is case anyone else wants to try -
Just wanted to share this in case it works for anyone else. nullSetting Vsync to "Fast" in NVidia control panel has improved significantly my gameplay in VR. The FPS remain the same, but I do have way less stutter. I still have some stutter in the mission I used to play before 2.9.6 (a sandbox mission in Syria with custom scripting and many statics and units) that used to work smothly but was now unplayable... Other sandbox missions I made in Kola and Afghanistan are now stutter-free (fingers-crossed), so at least I have some hope now Edit: unrelated, but reducing resolution in the first DCS setting does seem to improve 5-10 fps. I know, it has no sense, since I play in VR with "Use DCS system resolution" option checked... but I do swear it has improve in my system

TERRIBLE STUTTERING SINCE LAST UPDATE
Darcaem replied to Rene Coulon's topic in Game Performance Bugs
Please do share your findings. I also have the same feeling as you, but so far I have not been able to discern which specific unit or static makes the difference Edit: BTW, I did read somewhere on the forum a couple of weeks ago that the door gunner hook script for the OH6A was causing problems, and deleting it was a huge improvement (the problem persists, but it did make a difference). It is located in [..]\DCS\Scripts\Hooks -
Related to this... Has anyone had this weird feeling that there is a certain degree of "randomness" in the performance since the latest patches? I mean, the very same mission, the very same specs. the very same NVidia panel config... and sometimes performance is acceptable, but the next session in unplayable again. On the other hand, I do feel I am going a little bit crazy lately with all this performance issues XD

Thanks!! I thought TACAN was not implemented yet Turns out the only problem is that there is no indication that there is a clickable submenu on the CNI page for TACAN, but you can press the 2nd left button to access the TCN control page and activate T/R there

You only need to map the Bob engage/disengage toggle. I usually take off and start follwing my route, and when I'm more or lees in stable flight at around 100-130 knots "pass the control" to Bob Also, check this post on how to ask bob for changes on the flight profile

I thought the same yesterday when some insurgent fired against my CH47F but hit the wall... and the wall was lit on fire. Incendiary bullets or something I guess PS: dust for civil vehicules would look cool!

fixed Error in log: failed to load references from AH64D
Darcaem posted a topic in Bugs and Problems
I was checking the log and I have seen I have 323 errors only of this type. It would seem the CH47F is trying to reference files from the AH46D (which I do not own) 2024-08-12 21:48:36.150 ERROR ED_SOUND (Main): can't open proto file "/sounds/32/sdef/aircrafts/ah-64d/cockpit/betty/_betty.sdef" 2024-08-12 21:48:36.150 ERROR ED_SOUND (Main): failed to load sdef Aircrafts/AH-64D/Cockpit/Betty/_Betty referenced in /sounds/32/sdef.tar:Aircrafts/CH-47/Cockpit/Betty/ASE LINES NORMAL_01_LAUNCH.sdef There are also a lot more errors after that. I've attached a couple of logs in my custom sandbox mission and also a log of the "Raunway start" instant action in Afghanistan (the log with a filesize of 212KB) It does not crash, and I doubt the horrible FPS are even related to this. Just reporting in case it should be fixed, since there are hundreds of log entries with this error dcs.log dcs.log.old dcs.log -
Well, technically in my case I do not have a fix, I just tried to resize the textures that in this particular model weights a lot more than other aircrafts. I imagine this textures would be awesome for 8K in supercomputers, but since I cannot see them anyways...
-
Exactly, would be great for singleplayer sandbox missions with different client aircrafts. Could we please get an answer about this, would it be available in singleplayer as it was stated in the newsletter, or not?

The amount of miles showed on the product's page is not the amount of miles needed to buy it, is the amount of miles you will be awarded with if you buy it
-
Is this the parking brake text you were referring to? This is in pancake mode with the higher settings I use for mission making, I don't see anything odd... No idea what could be happening null
-
Correct, that's the filesize. I've been flying this afternoon and I haven't seen anyting wrong. But I'm flying in VR with quite low settings, maybe in higher settings it does look worse and cause artifacts?
-
Please, do correct me if I am missing something or I'm doing something wrong, as I have only basic knowledge. This is what I have done: 1.- Extract all .dds from Cockpit_CH-47F_Textures.zip 2.- Load all of them in "XnResize" https://www.xnview.com/en/xnresize/#downloads (the first one I found, there are probably better options out there) 3.- Action -> Preset 50% and Action -> Rotate unchecked 4.- Output -> select folder and Output -> Format: same as original 5.- Convert (took ~10min on my end) 6.- Zip all the dds created back into the original Cockpit_CH-47F_Textures.zip overriding them, and then paste back the file into [..]\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Mods\aircraft\CH-47F\Cockpit\Textures I don't do multiplayer, but I assume it won't pass integrity check EDIT: needless to say, make a backup of the zip file before overriding it
-
I've followed your lead and reducing textures to half gives a huge improvement... Of course one would need to fly it and test the feeling for a proper amount of time, but so far it does feels and sees quite ok
-
+1 A clear statement would be great I've been looking for it like an idiot on my singleplayer sandbox missions, since it was clearly mentioned in the newsletter...
-
I still have hope, there is only so many times you can say it is launching today and create hype to then delay it

+1 I ended up on this post looking for how to delete a lot of units and statics. My use case is I have a crowded mission with lots of templates in FOBs, airbases, etc.; and due to the performance drop on the last patches I need to remove as many units as possible. For me, it would be perfect to been able to select with my mouse an area and maybe get a list of all units and statics in that area, order by type (ground, aircraft, helicopter, static) and select or deselect items. And then delete selected items.
-
In my case I think stutters are caused by the number of units. It seems in previous patches (I don't really know exactly which one, but definitively after 2.9) the game handled with good performance a way higher number of units on the map. The very same Syria sandbox mission I've been playing since forever used to run smothly (~1050 units and statis with custom scripting), and now is unplayable unless I remove most units (removing all scripts has no effect) What is more worrysome for me is that I was playing the Operation Cerberus North campaign with good performance (I was at mission 16 part2) but the very same mission is now completely unplayable (VR with G2, i9700, 64GB@3200, rtx3070 at low graphics)
-
EDIT: NEVERMIND! It was my fault by not removing corrently the scenery!!! But since I've already posted, I will use this post to thank you ---------- In you last template. Now Zad District Centre, the northern corner is not correctly displayed. Thank you so much for your work!

I've come back to this map after a while, to the mission editor. Is this transition a bug (I do switch regularly between VR and pancake, changing settings and maybe I've messed something up) or is it "work in progress"? It seems the layout is actually correct though acording to Google Maps, but there are buildings and streets literally cut in half...
-
Yep, being happening forever and still there (VR, 3070, 64, i7. G2). Has Hawkeye_UK said years ago in this same thread, most times alt-tab solves the issue, sometimes not, and I have to restart DCS. Just commenting to keep the thread alive

+1 Maybe the "Gameplay" tab could be added to the launcher's options tab. As a VR user who regularly switches to pancake for mission editting, I'm very happy with the launcher besides this bug though
