Very good. I guess we'll all see.

The absence of information from other developers doesn't make magnitude 3 a credible developer simply because they post the odd screenshot. The MiG 21 is from the days when Heatblur and Magnitude 3 were joined. Since that split, Heatblur have surged ahead and Magnitude 3 are where they are. Fair play to them, I hope they succeed but their rate of progress would suggest we can't expect great things from them.

Silence might not be totally accurate but it's not far off. They post a screenshot maybe every 6 months or so and the occasional update about what they've been doing, never with any indication of timeframe for release (which even if they did do, would be worthless given how long it's taken to this point). Nothing but yarns since 2019. At this point even if they did put it into early access or even release it, I don't think it'd ever be "finished". To my knowledge, so far the only project they have solely to their name is the Christen Eagle.

For those of you who have requested a refund of the F-15, how long did it take to hear back about it? I put in for a refund a week ago and haven't even had an acknowledgment of my request yet. -
The F4-E and the 555th Tactical Fighter Squadron
Shibbyland replied to Shibbyland's topic in DCS: F-4E Phantom
Hah awesome. I met one of the guys mentioned on page 106 a while back but never asked him what model of Phantom he operated. I did know he was 555th tho which is why I ask here. -
Does anybody know if the 555th operated the E model in Vietnam? I know they flew throughout the war and operated while the E model was in service but I can only find reference to them operating the D model.

What's fascinating is how it's blown up so much more now than it did in April. Was it the M2000c bugs turning up that lit it up so much or has something else changed because so far as I can tell, the news is exactly the same as it was in April? It's a shame Razbam's CEO self destructed with his public statements. The damage it's done to his own brand and that of ED is massive. If all of us got refunds for the Eagle and then put that money into the next module, that's profit for this year just lost for ED, all the work on whatever next module gets our money just to get themselves back to where they were. It's also a shame it couldn't be mediated and is now in the hands of legal teams. It'll go on for ages, cost everybody a heap of money and in the meantime it undermines the rest of ED and seems to be overshadowing the EA release of the Phantom. As others have said, I don't know the ins and outs of things but I know for absolutely certain that Razbam's public statements are an unmitigated disaster and in total bad faith. I'm resolved to just get a refund on the Eagle, avoid the other Razbam modules and see where the chips fall. Might buy the F-15 again, might not but truth be told, I didn't have much confidence in its development before all this. -

This is not a reasonable position to take. The product is a complete package, it's expected to work. If ED want to take the position that updates aren't mandatory so if your stuff stops working when you update, too bad, that's fine but then don't expect customers to stick around. A customer who owns the majority of modules on DCS will have spent anywhere from $2000 to $3000. The product is expected to work.- 7263 replies

Just go through support, I think I did mine through the purchases section of support. You will probably need to provide your order number which you can find under keys in your module. You won't get any actual money back tho, it'll be store credit if you get anything at all. The more I'm digging into this the more I'm thinking I wish I hadn't bought the F4 either. I'm gonna stop buying any modules at all for a while. It's all looking a bit unstable and they're just too expensive to risk sinking more money into. -

The links to purchase on RAZBAMs websites no longer work. Apparently RAZBAM posting pictures of their aircraft flying into the sunset on discord. Not looking good. -

haha oh yea I'm not suggesting we could still do that, just remarking on the days when you had a physical copy. I used to stack the boxes up, they were huge...why did they do that, it makes no sense. I know you're not asking me but just my 2 cents anyway. If you were to be successful in a refund, you'd only get ED miles and they can't be used for every product. If this situation is resolved you'd have to buy the F-15 again but I don't think RAZBAM take part in the miles scheme so you wouldn't be able to use your refunded miles (I could have that wrong but I think it's how it works). -

Shibbyland replied to Rhinozherous's topic in RAZBAM
When it comes to asking for refunds. Being refunded in ED miles isn't all that useful as there's so many products you can't use miles on. Then the other thing is lets say you get a refund for the F-15e and you get ED miles but then the issue with Razbam is resolved. Now you've got ED miles, no F-15e and RAZBAM aren't part of the miles program so you'd need to use money to purchase it again if you chose to anyway. There's a broader issue about refunds in that depending where you live (ie where ED are trading), it's actually not as simple as pointing to terms of service and saying you're not going to provide a refund. For example, where I live, the consumer guarantees act provides protection where a product is "not fit for purpose" regardless of what terms and conditions you've agreed to. I probably wouldn't go kicking up a fuss about one purchase but I'm just saying, these are considerations. -

Totally agree with you. I don't like the direction things have gone in. Some of my best gaming was when PC games came on CD but for some reason the box was the size of a small house and had great art on it (like allied assault). I never really worried about things like patches but I suppose there's more complexity nowadays in terms of how software interacts with other software and hardware and how rapidly it changes. As you say, we've all come to expect more from our purchases. -

Shibbyland replied to Rhinozherous's topic in RAZBAM
Yea I think you're right but I honestly don't know how you restore a working relationship after publicly airing sensitive commercial information like that. Whatever issues they've been having got a whole lot more complex when RAZBAM threw ED under the bus (even if it turns out ED are in the "wrong"). I don't see this ending well. If I were ED, I'd be thinking very carefully about what's the lesser of two evils here. If ED resolve this issue with RAZBAM, they'll keep these modules in service but then they're left with the distrust of what's occurred and potentially being held at ransom (for want of a better word) if things go south again. If they cut RAZBAM loose, they'll anger customers but if that's managed well (with fair compensation for example) then they won't have to worry about future issues with RAZBAM and it sends a pretty serious message to the remaining/future business partners about what the expected standard of conduct is. As I say, ED needs its third party developers but there's definitely interdependence there. There really aren't that many other places 3rd party devs can sell their products. -

When it comes to digital products, I think we all know it can fall apart and the stuff you've spent money on won't be available anymore. The thing with DCS is, it's just so expensive, it's not like you lose access to some random game you haven't played in a while, it's a major product for a lot of people. Each to their own but if RAZBAMs modules collapse, that represents roughly 25% of my purchases. I'd keep playing DCS but it'd totally erode my confidence and it's unlikely I'd buy any more modules for a while. If enough other people felt the same way, then it becomes a bit of a death spiral. Sales hit a slump-devlopment reduces-sales slump further-even less development and so on. ED need their third party developers to sustain their growth.- 7263 replies

fixed Mosquito landing gear strut incorrect operation..
Shibbyland replied to Holbeach's topic in Bugs and Problems
I don't feel too bothered about the visual compression or lack thereof but I do find the Mosquito in particular not very nice to land, far too firm on the ground. Not easy to judge sink rate visually on a 2D screen so part of it will be how I'm landing it but even then, wheel landings are mission and theyre arguably meant to be the easier form of landing. -
I was just about to come and post this exact thing. Looking left and back with trackiR is very weird.

Ah, it's coop, that explains why I haven't been able to beat it single player. I've taken to way overloading the harrier for FOB operations and just taking a run up down the middle of the FOB to take off. At one point I damaged the nose gear but just flew the mission with it hanging out. My best so far is to destroy the bridge, destroy the AAA, destroy two of the tanks holding at the destroyed bridge, strafe and rocket run infantry and kill one of the amphibious armored vehicles fording the river. I always lose when the armored vehicles cross the river, I need to rearm too much and don't have the loiter time to carry enough weapons to get them all even with massive overloading. Cool mission tho.

DCS: AH-64D Screenshots and Videos (NO DISCUSSION)
Shibbyland replied to Sleepy's topic in DCS: AH-64D
Crossing into Syria, took machine gun fire crossing the border. Struck SA-5 target. Pilot killed by ground fire crossing back over the border. CPG made emergency landing. -
Same here, just tried the mission. Wingmen spin around on the ground, take out ground units and blow up. I tried taking off by myself and orbited for ages at H52. No F-16s showed up.

16 pin power connection
Shibbyland replied to Shibbyland's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Reporting back for anybody interested. I run mostly high settings but I keep some stuff like grass loading radius down and I only run at 1080p. The increase in performance from the 4070 is incredible. I've gone from getting a stuttering 35 frames low level over Paris to generally being above 100 frames with some reductions to 90. High level over Syria and Normandy I'm getting 180 frames. Marianas is still pretty intense though, that drops to 60 frames low level but it's smooth. Where I'm still confused is my CPU spiking to 100% then dropping to 70% then spiking to 100% again and repeating that cycle. Definitely CPU limited now tho, that'll be next years job. -
16 pin power connection
Shibbyland replied to Shibbyland's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I’m looking forward to trying it out tomorrow. It’s been over 3 years since a new GPU. Frustratingly, I can never afford to do a whole build at the same time so I get a new GPU but the processor is ageing (in this case I’ve got a 9700k). The next year I’ll replace the CPU and then I maybe get a year of having a decent combination of CPU and GPU before they fall out of sync again. My RAM is getting old too. I’ve got 32Gb worth but it’s in four 8gb sticks. Fingers crossed when I have time tomorrow I can fly low level over Paris without dropping to 35fps as I have been. It’s silly really, nothing else I play pushes my Pc, DCS is always the reason I upgrade. -
16 pin power connection
Shibbyland replied to Shibbyland's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I think I’ve been quite lucky with my supply. It’s a cooler master bronze 750w. I’ve ended up going with a Corsair RM850x. The guy at the store was pretty adamant the Corsair brand isn’t very good anymore, poor quality build. He tried to sell me on an EVGA 850watt which I understand is a very good supply but it’s the old 8 pin connections. I only ever buy Nvidia and it’s looking like 16 pin is where things are headed. I really don’t like the idea of being stuck with adapters so figured I’d bite the bullet and get an ATX 3.0 supply. To be fair tho any power supply I buy is likely to be a big upgrade on what I had in there. Man it’s been pricey tho. -

Thanks for the input. I've left PC upgrades for a while now mostly due to the mad prices. Unfortunately what I'm finding is lots needs doing at once. In the end it's looking like 12 VHPWR is the future and ultimately that'll be what everything will require. My PSU is 10 years old now. I last had it tested in 2020 and it was still going really well but if I'm getting a new card, it's probably a good time to replace that PSU. Thinking I'll go with a corsair ATX 3.0 supply. Me being me, even tho I'm going with a 4070 I'm going to get an 850 watt PSU since it's on sale and the 750 isn't so they work out about the same price. What started as me just upgrading a GPU has now morphed into a new case, a new GPU and a new power supply. It's frustratingly expensive but that's the hobby. The 2060 is really showing it's age and my i7 9700k won't be good for a whole lot longer so I may as well enjoy that processor with a decent GPU while I can.
