  1. Yes, I am well aware of that but still, unfortunately, I still get frustrated from time to time (too often for my liking). And judging from the title of this thread, many people are frustrated as well.
  2. Well, I started playing DCS seven years ago, so you don't have to tell me that, and I read changelogs. And I also don't have to tell you that while some bugs get fixed, new ones are introduced. And sometimes it takes years to fix a bug. And yes, I know "it's a huge task", but we've got what we've got. And I'm not blaming you for this state of affairs, just stating the facts.
  3. Yeah, people pay for the modules and expect quality and products that are working and free of bugs, outrageous! With this mentality, we're all doomed!
  4. I see. Well, I certainly didn't tell them not to evade or ignore their primary target. That's what I'm talking about, "a decent AI" should make them evade/use CMs without any additional actions on my part. Also, to prioritize some (important) targets above other (less important) targets, such as some AAA guns.
  5. Sorry, it was many moons and updates ago, I don't have any tracks anymore. I can just tell you that a pair of Hornets was supposed to attack a fuel depot and they were jumped by a pair of MiGs or Sukhois. The Hornets didn't take any evasive action or use chaff/flares and were promptly shot down. I sent another pair to bomb the same target and at least one of them kept attacking a ZU-23 site (but missed).
  6. I'm not an expert, but I understand that for a decent dynamic campaign, you need a decent AI, so that air and ground units could behave in a reasonable and believable way. Is this being worked on? If so, can it be implemented (even gradually) into the core game already? I tried to play Operation Liberation some time ago, but aircraft AI was so dumb (attack aircraft not using countermeasures, attacking AAA sites instead of their primary targets) that I had enough after just a few hours. Really, I don't need new maps to watch braindead AI and get frustrated. I've already invested enough money into DCS, I'll wait until some QoL improvements are introduced.
  7. Nice feature, but Dynamic Campaign Engine first, ok?
  8. Yes, I really liked the book by Rasimus and as far as Mason is concerned, he also wrote a sequel about what happened to him after the war (he had PTSD-related mental problems, tried to smuggle drugs and spent some time in jail).
  9. Aaaand toxic. Generally just shooting, bombing, killing and destruction. Fortunately, there's AAR and Christen Eagle se we can finally relax!
  10. I don't know if this is of any use, but have a look:
  11. This is how Claymore mines work
  12. Fond memories you say? My 47 MB (!) HDD was working like a lawn mower. I had to format it and lost over 40 MB of data!!!
  13. Oh, the good old days of DBLSPACE
  14. I kind of feel your pain, I've bought a 2 TB drive for simulators so that I don't have to worry about free space.
  15. Better boom physics would also be welcome.
  16. This is a good channel BTW:
  17. I refueled the F-14 on Pro, but had to turn off Jester. His comments were annoying and pointless. "We're taking fuel". No, we aren't, and won't be still for some time. Without Jester it was easier
  18. All right! Maybe it'a placebo, but it seems to have worked AAR'd the Viper for the first time!
  19. True, the FM is different but I still think it can be useful, at least as a more relaxing way to practice refueling, without all that cursing and tantrums
  20. As most of us probably know, in 2020 a company known of its operating systems published its "all eye candy, not-for-true simmers" flight simulator. Actually, it's not that bad and I fire it up from time to time. Recently, a tool called Airshow Assistant was released and while the name may not sound very exciting (we're all serious combat pilots, after all), the tool contains an aerial refueling function. Is has three difficulty levels: rookie, pro and ace and is rather friendly to use - the tanker spawns in front of you and requires no radio communications to connect. It supports the F-14, F-16 and A-6 (and some other planes as well; you have to buy them separately) and since I was able to refuel an F-16 at Ace within an hour from buying it, refueling seems to be a bit easier than in DCS. Anyway, I think it may be a useful training aid for those of you who are frustrated with trying to refuel in DCS.
  21. Hopefully you still have the passion?
  22. I've got an impression that some time ago (2 years?), the smoke effect was more visible, so maybe something has changed with updates.
  23. Not bad, have to try it out! And what about smokeLaunch.lua?
