Thanks a bunch. I already added a CF-18 to start 5 nm behind the S-3B and all works. I will look at this new one later and figure it out. Thanks for the quick help. Thanks Again, Wayne

Thanks for giving me a reason for not seeing the Tanker option in COMMS. Where and how do I fix this to get practicing my AAR? Thanks, Wayne
-
Hi Guys and Gals, I followed the below video to the letter and can't get the F6 selection when I bring up the COMM 1 page. I get F5 ATC and EXIT options only. Am I missing something? I can't refuel if I can't talk to TEXACO and get the hose let out. Thanks, Wayne

Thanks again BIGNEWY. As requested. It seems to be uploading it, but it doesn't appear in the Attach Files area when it should. Thanks, Wayne

Thanks for the suggestion as it WAS the anti-virus software that is too good. I included the two folders for DCS in its list and all is good now. Sorry for posting this simple fix, but I have had issues in the past. Now on to flying the F-14 today and tomorrow. Great fun ahead. Thanks Again, Wayne

The file (DCS.exe) is there, but the icon looks different. See attached. I have been having issues with the last three or four updates. Thanks, Wayne

I followed the cleanup and repair actions given by BIGNEWY and I still have issues. DCS will not update or even run if I tell it to update later. It gives me the attached thumbnail found above. What is my next step(s)? Thanks, Wayne

Hi, I just spent a few hours trying to update to yesterdays newest version and it was giving me warnings. This is the window that pops up after I say to update later. Thanks, Wayne autoupdate_templog.txt

I need to say 'Thank You' to everyone that figured out my problem and helped me to get back flying my beloved DCS again. I have been getting in a fair amount of Aerial Refueling recently and notice that my FPS is up in the 100 - 125 range, but drops to single digits for a very short burst. This is NOT great when trying to connect to the tanker. Any further suggestions on what this could be? I have my setting on High and keep Water and Heat Blur at Low setting. Other than this small thing I am flying and enjoying it. Thanks Again, Wayne

It was working for quite a while, but guess the last patch or two didn't like it. Thanks, Wayne

I removed my overclocking that MSI Afterburner was changing and it hasn't crashed yet. I programmed my controls and went for an Aerial Refueling mission and it was stable. It seemed like every 8 to 10 seconds I was getting a brief freeze and the FPS was showing 100's and down to single digits, or very low double digits, when it froze for the split second. I am using the preset for High and will play with these to see what happens. Awfully strange to see it drop that much and that quick. I will keep you posted on what further testing reveals. I was in the F/A-18C in one of the preloaded missions for the hornet. Thanks, Wayne

Yes it is. A bit of both. I can remove my overclocking and see what happens. It is an Nvidia RTX 2070 Super XC Ultra from EVGA. I will let you know what happens after I bring it back to default settings. Thanks, Wayne

Here they are. Thanks, Wayne dcs.log-20200227-005845.zip

I followed what you told me to do and it still crashes. I performed the cleanup and repair from inside the bin folder. I tried to fly my F/A-18C, F-16C and the Spitfire Mk.IX and all three crashed at various times. I even moved to flying the Instant Action Free Flight in the Nevada map and it still crashed. The F-16 made it the longest and it wasn't until I quit to go back to the main menu that it crashed. I am including the three zipped crash logs that I have from today's flight. Hope these help. When it crashed yesterday and today it goes to a black screen and my mouse pointer only. I can't see the crash windows that come up and allow me to type stuff in. I found hitting the ESC key flashes those screens and after hitting the ESC key three times it finally shuts down DCS and kicks me back to my desktop. Hope this helps. Thanks, Wayne

It took a long time to get everything downloaded and installed. It is still crashing once I try to get in to an aircraft cockpit and fly. I am going to follow your advice about the 'DCS Crashing? Try this first." How do I correct the monitor setup error? What is the second Code window showing me? I am updating my video driver and checking all of the other drivers now. Keep you posted on the progress. Thanks again for all the help. Thanks, Wayne

Thanks BIGNEWY. I will get this done today and post my results here. Thanks, Wayne

How should I go about removing my current version? Use the Add/Remove programs in Control Panel or is there a better way? Should I go into C drive after the removal and delete that main folder all together? I currently have five folders in my Saved Games folder. They are: DCS, DCS Updater Utility, DCS.openalpha, DCS.openbeta, and DCS.openbetabackup. Should these be removed as well? Thanks for all the help, Wayne

I never opened that file. I followed the cleanup and repair and it still crashes. Thanks, Wayne

I just watched the video on the single engine landing and looks like you nailed it man! Bravo!! I am still getting familiar in the hornet and haven't taken on the challenge of carrier ops yet, but hopefully soon. My DCS is always crashing and I need to get it back stable before trying those training lessons and shooting the trap. Thanks for the video, Wayne

Just started DCS and it worked. One thing back working, but it crashed again. I started Instant Action / F/A-18C / Free Flight / Caucasus map hit the FLY button and didn't last ten seconds before it crashed yet again. I didn't have any Mods running, no TrackIR running, just the Instant Action flight. Thanks, Wayne

Thanks BIGNEWY. It was removed by my antivirus software and I have restored it back to the folder. Here is all that was in the Logs folder. I have not fired up DCS yet, but I will let you know what happened shortly. Thanks for everything, Wayne dcs.log-20200222-141010.zip

Everything seemed to be working happily, but then it shut down after I was done programming my TM HOTAS Warthog and BBI-32. I clicked on the OKAY button at the bottom right and it said that it couldn't find the DCS.exe in the bin folder. I looked in the bin folder and it isn't there now. It also popped up the attached text file. Hope this helps. autoupdate_templog - 22 Feb 2020.txt

I am following your advice BIGNEWY and have already performed the cleanup and repair and add backup to my Saved Games folder (DCS.openbetabackup). I am moving on to start DCS again and go from there. Thanks again for everything and I will keep you posted on what happens, great or otherwise. Thanks, Wayne

I updated my video board back in December 2019 from my old NVIDIA GTX 660 to the new EVGA NVIDIA RTX 2070 Super Ultra, along with a new power supply to provide me the power to run my new graphics card. I jumped from 30-40 FPS to a whopping steady 75 FPS. It was working great until me messing around with OvGME. I like the Helios profiles and what they do to engage a second monitor displaying my instrument panels for more immersion and getting my home built cockpit more complete. I ensure that all of my drivers are up to date and think that I corrupted something and it is not fixing with the repair function. Thanks for the words of wisdom. Looks like my next step is to remove and install a fresh version, but still waiting for a 'GO' or 'NOGO' on the remove and fresh install. If I do go down the fresh install rabbit hole, any words of advice or what to save and/or delete to ensure a near flawless install? Should I remove everything on the C drive and the Saved Games folder or can I keep the Saved Games folder or .... Thanks, Wayne

Where do I get the track file from? What do you mean with "I think the OP means the game crashes, not the aircraft. " I have done several repairs, but that didn't seem to repair what is wrong. It happens with my F/A-18C, F-16C, SU-33 and Spitfire Lk Mk.IXc. I am using mods from Helios for my F/A-18C, F-16C and SU-33 to use my second monitor as an instrument panel. I was trying to use OvGME to manage my mods and found more than one video on how to set it up. It is unclear to me the proper steps, if any, to perform before or after an update has been released from Eagle Dynamics. I think the best thing for me would be to remove everything and start with a fresh install. I really enjoy flying DCS and like it more than Lockheed Martin' P3D, but wish the map was bigger. Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated and very helpful to get me back in the air and enjoying DCS once again. Patiently waiting your knowledgeable advice for a nugget. Thanks, Wayne
