hmmm.. interesting indeed.. i'll check it out hopefully later tonight or this weekend..
-
Nice!!! glad to hear it!!!..
-
another option you might be able to try is setting a lower refresh rate on your monitor in Nvidia CP.. it may be dependent on you monitor, but it is worth checking... if you set your refresh rate to 50Hz and then set in game vsync, you will be locked at 50 fps.. you could set it to whatever available refresh rates you have... i tried it... it works.. also has a significant reduction on both CPU and GPU load... you will likely have to restart your pc after applying the setting for everything to get settled in... but it works quite well..
-
yep... ive seen it too.
-
sweet!! glad you got it working!!... do you have any monitoring overlays that you can observe while in game?... I use a reference monitor but an overlay should also be able to display GPU/CPU loads.. If you are on a single monitor and want to see if you are in Fullscreen or Windowed, you can do something like leave open a file folder, monitoring app,.. whatever ect.. before you start DCS... then while flying, if you LAlt Tab, it will put you in windowed mode every time and you will see an options to select the folder, app, whatever... either way, LAlt Tab should put you into windowed mode... once you have established that you are in windowed mode, you can just LAlt Enter between that and Fullscreen...

VR Shaders mod for better VR experience
DflippinK replied to Kegetys's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
i previously achieved this... but i cant remember what i tweaked in the mod.. as i recall it was within the atmosphere2 and or tonemap files... but i cant say for sure.. sorry for the useless post... but it did work.. -
are you monitoring fps??.. if you are seeing any tearing, it is because you are out of sync.. which would suggest Vsync is not working correctly.. or the GPU is dropping below the threshold of the refresh rate... which can be caused by any number of variables..
-
i understand your position... what i am suggesting to you is that in Game Vsync works in both Fullscreen and Borderless Windowed mode... in order to achieve this result, you may have to eliminate any variables that are preventing you from doing so... Vsync in game checkbox should be the only determining factor of weather or not Vsync is in use.. ex... Vsync OFF= unconstrained fps variable framerate... Vsync On= 60 fps no matter Fullscreen or Windowed.. ...no matter what anyone with any performance issues is talking about.. in achieving this result, you will then be able to measure the differences in CPU/GPU utilization between Fullscreen and Windowed mode by switching between the two with LAlt-Enter as many times as you like while flying.

here is the 1.7.4 zip... ovgme_1_7_4_setup_64.zip

well... i wonder what the issue is... Vsync will lock my system to 60 no matter which mode i am in... again though,.. i usually start DCS in windowed mode with the Fullscreen checkbox unchecked so i can easily work between my main display and my reference monitor.. and then LAlt Enter between the two... but i have also tested it with Fullscreen checked and it also works.. the only thing that changes Vsync for me is weather or not i have it enabled or not... hmm, wonder if maybe you and Draconus might have a display setting outside of DCS that might be affecting it?.. for me, all system display settings are locked at 3840x2160 with 60Hz refresh rate.. and all Nvidia Vsync options are set to (application controlled) default setting.. ideally leaving DCS as the only dictating factor of weather or not Vsync gets used or not... edit: just checked out your monitor... nice!!.. any chance you might have a GSync setting that could be affecting it??
-
Well... i most often have fullscreen unchecked in DCS... but the Vsync works for me both ways... maybe try unchecking fullscreen and restarting DCS in windowed mode first before LAlt entering...
-
... really??... what happens if you dont Lalt Enter??.. do you have Fullscreen checked or unchecked in game settings?
-
, oh yes.. i see... you are correct.... if you want to measure the load differences, you can only do so with the in game Vsync.. Nvidia Vsync only works in full screen... but it does provide the same load result as fullscreen with in game vsync.. sorry about that... but if you use in game Vsync, it will work in both Fullscreen and Windowed... and you can just L-alt Enter between the two both locked at 60hz..
-
interesting... ive been playin around with it alot lately.. created a heavily saturated mission with a ton of units... in fullscreen mode, i was getting a range of 11-15% CPU total load.. and GPU at 54-68% load... but noticed the CPU primary core was flatlining at times creating an occasional lag... L-alt entered into windowed mode and CPU load drops 7-9%, primary core saturation drops well within its threshold, and the GPU increases load range to 67-81%... but now no flatlined cores and the mission runs silky smooth.. tested with both in game Vsync and Nvidia CP Vsync.. almost identical results between the two... its just strange.. as if some of the rendering is being swapped between the CPU and GPU dependent on which mode im in.. doubt thats the case.. but it sure acts like it.. :dunno:

VR Shaders mod for better VR experience
DflippinK replied to Kegetys's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
i haven't seen any messages pop up.. but as always the first time you start DCS after installing the mod, it will take about 5-10 minutes for DCS to compile the new set of shaders... you just have to wait for it... after the the first time, the game will start up normally again... other than that i can only really guess that something may have gotten corrupted during the update process.. -
hmm.. not sure... might be a heavy graphical transition... does it run smooth otherwise?
-
clearly as the title states.../s:doh:... in any case... if anyone would like some versatility in their option as far as AA or "Broken Anti-Aliasing" which while it will not directly address the current wake issue but may affect it in one form or another... be sure to check out this mod: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=215373 it will provide significant GPU headroom in both 2D and VR to enable AA settings that you may have previously not been able to run given hardware limitations.. happy flying..
-
well.. i haven't seen any official word, apparently some attention was given to a performance mod in the mods section which may bring about some changes, but do you know where your bottleneck is on your system?.. CPU or GPU?... looks like relatively robust system specs.. not sure what CPU that is.. but looks like you should be pretty capable of running with relatively high settings.

lol.. no, video production company,... but i do love my cars!!:)

VR Shaders mod for better VR experience
DflippinK replied to Kegetys's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
cant be sure what happened,.. but when updating it may be good practice to: 1. Revert [C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\terrains\Caucasus\misc\metacache\dcs.old folder back to dcs 2.Delete fxo and metashader2 files under C:\Users\Username\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta 3.Uninstall the mod via Ovgme or by restoring Bazar backup folder 4.Then update i think thats about it.. then just reapply the mod as normal.. on one update, i corrupted the main install by forgetting a step.. basically copied old Bazar folder to new updated main folder... Lol, things werent working quite right.. but if you did it by the steps above, there shouldn't be any issues. -
look bud... im not big on opinions ..or feelings,... what i am stating is based on results... it is not because i want something to be true or that i am enthusiastically enthralled by something..... it is based on hours and hours of testing while accounting for every possible variable... myself, and about every other person in that thread has had extraordinary results... you are entitled to your opinion and whatever you choose to believe in... but the facts of the matter, weather you are running VR or 2D... in 4k,...2k,... 720p,... or whatever you want, the mod creates a different set assets to be computed by the GPU... in a controlled environment with no other variable than the mod itself on a 1080ti, there is a 15-20% decrease in load on the GPU... this is not disputable... and can be easily measured over and over again... what this means... regardless of how you want to feel, or your opinion, is that the user now has the ability to apply 15-20% more load than previously attainable while maintaining the same or better FPS, or that they can maintain the same settings and pursue an increase in FPS based on the relative 15-20% GPU load that is available.... this in fact, hardware doesn't care about feelings, is a significant performance improvement... for any and all users... period... You want to chase fps.. have 15-20% more of your GPU to do it... You want to increase AA or any other graphics setting... have 15-20% more of your GPU to do it... take your pick.. or mix it up... or.... dont.
-
im sorry my friend.. but you are terribly mistaken... the mod makes a tremendous difference in 2D.. let alone VR.. simply for the fact that one can utilize all AA settings available to them where they previously could not without suffering a massive impact on performance... maybe it just hasn't worked well for you... the gains are huge for most everyone that has applied the mod.. the title of this thread alone, would make it relevant to 2D user and VR alike.. as for the wake issue, any adjustments of AA will affect every pixel rendered on the screen... while it may not directly address the wake issue, it will affect the way it is displayed.. i like seeing your considerations in the posts that ive read... and i mean you no disrespect... but the mod actually is the wonder drug that many are looking for... and regarding AA.. it couldn't be more relevant.
-
not sure what your gripe is... but the mod !!!GREATLY!!!!.. (notice the CAPS and exclamation marks)... increases performance in both VR and in 2D.. what it also does, is allows users the headroom to enable in game MSAA which in turn also allows them the use of Nvidia CP AA functionality... all of which can manifest a much cleaner look to the sim, provide previously unfeasible options to the user, and provide more fps than possible otherwise... im sorry this bugs you... it shouldn't.. and most if not all users will benefit greatly from it..
-
if you would like a good option to crank the crap out of AA without much visual sacrifice, go here,, https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=215373 install the mod.. turn on in game MSAA and also be able to utilize Nvidia CP settings in doing so... do it...
