VR Shaders mod for better VR experience
DflippinK replied to Kegetys's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Holy freaking crap!!!!!... this is outstanding!!!... just tested 4k and GPU load is down from 62-83% to 40-54%... time to test some MSAA... nice work with this!!... -

I might be overthinking things,... but i dont understand where to install this... or what JSGME or OvGME is... -
thats how how ive had it set up as well... In game Vsync ON... Fullscreen OFF.. zero issues... also, i'll say it again, Fullscreen ON seems to have a very strange increase in core utilization... looks as if it increases load 15-20% on each utilized core...with zero visual difference than Full Res Windowed... so.....no need to waste CPU... Fullscreen OFF.

only difference would be the additional fan on the FTW3... other than that, same card..... as for the Black Edition, it is supposedly based on the 1080ti reference card with the EVGA Icx cooler, but without the Icx sensors and tech that the SC2 and FTW3 have...

my Nvidia 1080 is on 100% no matter what

oh i dont know how many people use vsync or not.. makes perfect sense for me on a 4k screen at 60hz.. but not experiencing any lag... i mean... its just always locked at 60fps... it is consistent.. looks incredible, smooth as silk, with no stutters, no lagging that i can perceive, and not even demanding a sweat from the hardware.. for me, thats what a flight sim should be.. so im pretty stoked on it.. it sounds like variable and max fps is workin well for what it brings to your experience and that is totally cool... especially if its all running well without hiccups.. -

common debate... i personally have experienced the side by side difference of 144hz, 120hz, and 60hz... in first person shooters, some would benefit of max refresh and fps as it can in some cases provide a slight edge in responsiveness... visual quality difference is slightly enhanced, but honestly side by side, hard to even tell what the difference is... and would most likely be the minimal difference of perceivable blur between 2 frames over the same distance as 3 or 4 frames.. again.. IMO minimal and not worth the hardware cost unless used for something that requires absolute critical response times to be competitive... ex... not DCS.. not tryin to argue... just tryin to provide a practical perspective... locked at 60fps, butter smooth, and runnin cool. -
would be a nice setup... put this together for ya too... https://pcpartpicker.com/list/HjHgP3 basically the same setup... will do the same things.. no big deal.

well.. outside of VR,.. cant think of any good reason to chase frames above 60fps... unless you just want to make more heat with your gpu... its a flight sim... not exactly a twitch game guys.. IMO set your refresh to 60hz and vsync it.. GPU will run cool at around 60-70% load butter smooth.. efficient.. -
Glad you're back up and runnin smooth!!
-
dont forget to always clear your fxo and metashaders2 folders after updates... located in C:\Users\UserName\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta Make it common practice.. after any update, or any graphics adjustments.. Just delete the contents of each folder.. restart DCS and it will reload the folders accordingly... if stuttering still persist, you may need to repair or reinstall DCS... but i have found several times that just clearing the fxo and metashader2 folders has cleaned the stutters right up.. currently running smooth on my setup... hope this works for you guys too.

Everything is running nicely here too... only thing i dont like is the FA-18 seems pretty intensive on the primary cpu core.. but, locked at 60fps.. maxed the settings i want and off the settings i dont care about.. and im stutter free and runnin cool.. however, it was always running like this... through all the updates... i think update 3 i noticed a drastic change in primary core utilization that i am still not fond of, but regardless, its running well.. just hope they can optimize for maximum system efficiency in the future as well.. for now, i just switch affinity here and there to spread the burn over different cores..

Thank You Friend... didnt realize it would be under third party developers..:thumbup:

are there any forums for SA-342 Gazelle???.. not sure if i just cant find it or it doesn't exist?
-
hopefully it doesnt further saturate the primary core utilized by DCS.... just sayin..

Recommended Nvidia driver
DflippinK replied to Mr_sukebe's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
a few have stated 388.71 as providing best performance.. im on 390.77 with no complaints. -
same as me... solid 60fps...
-
I have also noticed this behavior... and a significant increase in CPU primary core utilization when in Fullscreen mode vs full res Windowed mode... there is no difference in what is displayed on screen, but Fullscreen mode will beat the crap out of your primary core..

DflippinK replied to Womb_Raider's topic in Game Performance Bugs
well.. not be argumentative,(respect your position), but dependent on his settings and weather or not he is using vsync, he may or may not be demanding more than 70% of his GPU... i actually try to aim for about 70% load on my setup just because it allows the hardware to sit well in its range of performance leaving little to no room for stutters, heat, or throttling.. no need to chase max fps... just chase the fps I require... which for me is 60fps.. butter smooth.. and keeps everything cool and comfortable.. -

Bummer.... i was hoping you wouldn't say that,... but kind of expected it.. -

well.. i use two also, but one is just my reference dispaly for system monitoring and the main is my primary display for DCS.. just uncheck Fullscreen in game and select the full resolution in game of your primary monitor.. Looks exactly the same.. but performs better. -
Worse FPS/Perfomance With GTX 1070 vs GTX 970?
DflippinK replied to Womb_Raider's topic in Game Performance Bugs
@Womb Raider other than that, it sounds like you are back in action.. might want to use in game Vsync to limit your GPU to 60hz refresh if you have no other need for higher fps as they would not be necessary.. additionally, running DCS in Full resolution borderless windowed rather than Fullscreen seems to lighten the load on the cpu drastically with a very slight increace in GPU load... very slight.. so you may want to give that a shot as well and give your CPU a little more free comfort.. glad you are back up and enjoying your new card.. -

good... and afterwards did you perform the cleanup via DDU to rid the system of unnecessary nvidia folders? After doing that,... go into your services and disable Nvidia Telemetry container too.
