Ground units looking like Boxes until REALLY close

It was indeed a UAZ. -
Ground units looking like Boxes until REALLY close
RichardG replied to luza's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
I just noticed this the first time today, after applying patch. Making a gun run, the target didn't appear until I was about 1.5 clicks out. Very bad. My settings are maxed. You say the LOD is better with medium setting? -
Will the patch reset custom input controls? Should I backup that file first (and where is it?)

Sound effect for the air regulator would be cool.

The FTP servers are passworded. Am I suppose to guess it?

I've heard its not good to run apps in high priority. Bad for the OS or something. -
How Do I Add A JTAC/FAC TO Fast Mission
RichardG replied to GAJ52's topic in User Created Missions General
Heres what I do. After you generate mission, hit edit mission. I add one predator at 25,000 feet, assign his mission as AFAC, then give him 4 waypoints in a box pattern over enemy territory. At the last waypoint, add the command "switch to", and select the first waypoint. This will make the predator fly an indefinite box pattern over the enemy area. It works better than the "Orbit" command, he will cover more area. If you really care about the predator, you can also give him a "RTB if bingo" command at the last waypoint, but it isn't necessaty. The eye in the sky will talk you into every target. If you use the FAC assign group command, I don't think the FAC will see any other targets, only the one you assign it. Its best not to use that command. Using a predator, you dont have to worry about the enemy killing your JTAC on the ground and ruining all the fun. A ground JTAC also wont see as much. -
A10 is not nearly as big or heavy as 737. Its also a "stiffer", more rugged airframe. I wouldn't expect as much noise from it on take off.

Is this lua code, or actual functions from the mission editor? I'm trying to learn the editor. -
Why is my 9 line a 12 line? (not a lat/long)
RichardG replied to RichardG's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Found a good thread about this already: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=70175&highlight=utm+grid JTAC/AFAC needs to include the UTM grid in the 9 line briefing. Currently, he doesn't give you that. -
Why is my 9 line a 12 line? (not a lat/long)
RichardG replied to RichardG's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Ok, found a grid map, and that is indeed where the split is (where I was flying). In flight, how do you know you have crossed the line? I think the line actually split the battlefield, targets on both sides. Better question, how do I get the JTAC/AFAC to give me lat/long coordinates instead, and avoid this whole problem? -

RichardG replied to RichardG's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Wheres does the grid split? I was flying a quick battle on the black sea coast. I took off 20 miles north of battlefield, and the battlefield was on the west end of the map (the coast). -
Do this instead. Make 3 or 4 waypoints for the circuit you want him to fly. At the last waypoint, add a "switch to" command, telling him to go back to the first waypoint. I also put an "RTB if Bingo" command so he doesn't crash. He will fly your pattern of waypoints until hes out of fuel. And you can get him to recon more area than with an orbit command. I like to put a Predator at 25,000 feet over the battlefield.

Wouldn't a hot start on the runway correctly setup the aircraft for the grid your in? Where does the track save to? Is there one saved somewhere if I didn't tell it to save a track? -
AFAC gives me this 9 line "GG318441". I set CDU to UTM and enter 9 line. CDU displays this instead "GG31800 44100". You can see this is not a lat long coordinate. I slave TGP to this coordinate and its 90 miles away. Real target is 15-20 miles away. AFAC sends me data via link and I find target on TAD instead. I did about 20 targets this way in this quick mission. Never seen this before, I suspect because I started on runway instead of ramp start like I usually do, and something was not setup correctly by default.

I use the quick mission generator, because I hate making missions. Whats fun about that?? I set enemy ground forces to max, no air, and very few friendly ground troops (cause they shoot and kill the enemy before I can :) . I then edit the mission, and place a Predator drone at 25,000 feet as AFAC orbiting the enemy lines. The AFAC will walk you into the targets via 9 lines, etc. Its good fun.

Given the current (poor) state of wingman AI in both blackshark and A10, do you think they will be able to make AI wingman behave properly air to air combat? Proper cooperation and teamwork is critical in a dogfight or air to air engagement. Falcon 4 did it well. I'm skeptical it can be done in the DCS series.

In the manual it says bomb fusing is not modeled, except for the 82 air.

I found it. The serial is at the online store I purchased it from.
-
Ok, that looks to be a pain in the butt. Where do I find my serial number so I can reactivate it?
-
I'm upgrading my operating system. How do I deactivate A10 and blackshark. And how do I reinstall them again for that matter, do I need a new activation code or something?

I don't think the game will allow you to map 2 controls to one button.
