  1. this first one is before T/O clearance The second pic shows the flood lights active when cleared. ... and below is the 20 minute track for a 5 minute flight Flood lights.trk I didn't edit (frap) it so it includes my startup...sry
  2. You are right.. I was holding short of the active RWY... and yes the runway lights were on. As the tower cleared me, the flood light activated and spilled brightly down the runway. I had never seen that before but figured I was the "last to know" (a trend) so didn't even think to capture & post any media. Dang now I gotta go find the mission and make sure I'm not just goofy. I'll be back... Rave out
  3. Yeah.. that was the wow part to me... another little surprise after all the time I've been flying in theater... Salute ED. Rave
  4. Okay, I have been flying the since "the beginning" but I had never seen the runway lights (actually the flood lights from the threshold to the active) activate after the tower cleared me for take-off before this morning. I guess I have not flown that many night sorties (with proper comm procedures). Anyway... I know forgive the "noobish" post, but I thought that was real kool. Raven out!:pilotfly:
  5. Funny... My downed pilot hangs his head in despair then starts running for cover everytime he see's me moving in on station... :joystick: ...sad ~Rave
  6. WOW! :pilotfly: That was a mess (my approach) :joystick: !! I had to execute a missed approach and go back out to the previous waypoint. Drifted left on finals but had plenty of time to correct (ok...maybe just enuff time) and set down a nice touchdown...but sheeeesh that was actually scary. Okay next time I'll actually use the ILS....yeah yeah I had it on and set up, but I never once looked at the needles  ... I was too scared to take my eyes off the speed/alt/heading/descent rate..oh and ground cues (water). I think i flew over a mile at 250-300 feet @ 150 knots before I pick up the lights (the most beautiful lights ever!!) on a real note: I really struggled with keeping a stable flight... could not get my alt/hdg hold to work...:book: THANKS... This will make a great addition to my training ~Rave
  7. Oh well... Thanks for the response J. Back to the bat cave. ~rave
  8. controllable chute...? Okay... as I am becoming as skilled :smartass: at the ejection sequence as I am any of the avionics or weapons :joystick: I as thinking last night while floating towards the enemy line  from about 7000 ft... " hmmph, sure would be nice if I could control my descent so that I'd land (pointing:right over there) near my friendly forces..." :helpsmilie: Being an experienced and very savvy virtual life saving ejection sequence specialist, I am often flooded with thoughts ranging from: :( ooops! :music_whistling: oh yeah... heh heh... ECM on ...check  mother...(sniff) :doh:oooooh... "mud spike!?" ... sheesh I thot he said "bud light" where are those %&*@!* SEAD guys!?!? But this time.. innovative, clear minded and profound: " hmmph, sure would be nice if I could control my descent so that I'd land (pointing:right over there) near my friendly forces..."
  9. You guys are awesome! I am just getting some stability at placing Mavs on :joystick: badguys, as you cats are using JTAC/LGB (gobbly-gook) for Kills  ...BYW: I keep forgetting this is "beta" when I fly... I salute (IRL) ED as well as you Pilots. ~Rave
  10. Thanks G! Did I mention the good news about the Fire Extiguisher?! But really... I gotta figure out how to spot (or at least have some SA) these ground threats. ~ Rave
  11. Yeah... when Bad Guy aircraft (predatory) in the area I always regress back towards good guys and my CMS has been pretty good. BUT far too often I get PUNKed by SAM and AD... tonight even at 11,000 ft... without even knowing I am threatened. :pilotfly:...of course I am a glass is "half-full" guy... so the positive note here is "the fire extinguisher worked great!" ~ rave
  12. ... add my "wow" to the stack... Thanks! ~ rave
  13. That is halarious!! :megalol: (She is a keeper)
  14. +1 But as Fish says, please don't remove the default mapping. BTW: not sure if it has been brought up yet or not, but Great Sim! ~Rave
  15. LOL... yeah.. and be forced to depend on ground speed and evasion techniques to keep the crew chief from initiating blunt force trauma procedures... directed at me of course...!?!
  16. Interesting... I just had "HUD failure" after pre-flght and start-up, just before take-off. There was no indication (light) of system failure. I don't think it was a graphic card thing tho' ... I tried to use the make the (invisible) HUD my SOI and change steerpoint but the the was unsuccessful ( i used TAD to confirm). It seems like that would have worked if the trouble was a graphics blooper...(shrug) Now (curious)I wish I had shut down and restarted to see If I could have reset the system... hmmph?
  17. All I have to say is ...."! ! !" Okay... okay... so I'm speechless! But I am reading the manual while I download. :worthy: Thanks so much.
