I am in a training mission in which I have to engage a target with an IR Mav (D) and then with a EO Mav (H). The (D) engagement goes fine. Image is clear and I get a good lock. However, when I switch to the (H) Mav image I can barely see anything. (I, first, acquire the target on the TGP and make it SPI. Then I switch to the MAV screen and slew the seekerhead to the SPI. It worked for the D just fine.) I try to lock up the target or what I think is the target and I get a NO TRACK LAUNCH iHBT message and cannot launch. I know that H's are more touchy than the D's for lock up and I suspect it has to do the image quality. The H Mav relies on the a TV image and if the contrast is not good then it has trouble locking up (that is my rationale for it, anyway). How can I adjust the image quality for the H model on the MAV screen? Will it affect the D image or the TGP when I bring them back up?

I feel your pain!! But I did it, finally! I had fits with AAR too and I'm still not a pro at it, but was able to get on the tanker. All of the previous posts have very good tips and they do work. What worked for was: 1. Get the joystick curves setup to where you find them most comfortable. It was important for me to have a small dead zone at the neutral position of the joystick (2 to 3 on the curve). Then set up the responsiveness by adjusting your slopes. Move the stick around to see if this is something you like. 2. Make a practice mission in the MISSION BUILDER. It's pretty easy to do and does not take much time to create and debug. Put your HOG a few miles behind the tanker and setup your altitude and speeds like a typical AAR; 15,000 ft @ 180 knots. 3. One thing I do to give myself as much view out of the windshield is lower my seat all the way to the stops. This gives me the greatest field of view to see the tanker and the boom. 4. TRIM, TRIM, TRIM, TRIM, and TRIM again. This is the most important thing of all. If you don't have the bird trimmed out properly, it will be like riding a bucking bronco when you try to get on the boom. Be mindful that this is a delicate process. As the aircraft speed changes, the trim characteristics will change as well. So it is important to do everything SLOWLY and let go of the stick from time to time to see if you need to trim more. 5. Disconnect the throttles (if you have a TM Warthog Throttle) so you can move them independently. This helped me a lot to control my speed to get on the boom. When the FE says "Walk the throttles" that is what he means. Use the throttles in unison to get close to the boom, but when you are ready to get on the boom. Use only (1) throttle at a time. This will make your changes in speed far more controllable. Be mindful to move very small adjustments with the throttle and stick. VERY SMALL! Don't horse it or you will end up being far off the boom or WORSE! 6. I try to be high enough that boom is at a more shallow angle. This way, I can use the tanker and boom better as a reference. It also helps me to minimize stick inputs and hold myself in-place with the throttles (mostly). 7. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A READY LIGHT or everything will be in VAIN. Hit that pinky button (on a Thrustmaster Warthog stick) of whatever you have the READY/NWS bound to. 8. Here's where I diverge from a lot of folks. I have a hard time not looking at the boom and flying off the tanker. First of all, I can't see the position lights on the belly of the tanker very well and even if I could, I don't know what they mean. I will make contact and use the color code on the boomer to hold position while watching the tanker in my periphery. The A-10C engine adjustments are not immediate so you need to anticipate the lag and make small ones when you do with only 1 throttle. 9. At this point it is just trying to maintain position which is not an easy thing to do. I have found that once I am on the boom that both throttle and stick adjustments are needed to stay in position. AGAIN, everything needs to be in micro-adjustments. 10. Use that practice mission and PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE! Happy tanking!

I have decided to go back through the Maple Flag A-10C advanced qualification missions to sharpen up on my skills. I have been trying to pass the flare illumination mission (#5), it seems in vain, for many days now and I am getting increasingly frustrated with it. I looked up advise on it on the forum and got some helpful hints; fly just below 6000 ft and hold down the weapons release for a second or 2 when the flares are released to make sure the software sees it. All good things! However, last night I tried the mission again. This time I set the elevations of WP5, WP6, and WP7 to 100 ft so I could slew the TGP to the WP and acquire the targets more easily. Then I could adjust the crosshairs slightly to be on the target and TMS UP LONG to designate the SPI. Should be simple, right? Well, I have noticed with this mission that when the TGP comes up, the image is terrible and I have to screw with the contrast, brightness, gain, etc. to get something that I can discern well before I make landfall. I get to WP5 and find the trucks, SPI them, drop the flares. "2 AWAY", "Well done, target illuminated!" I boresight the TGP (CHINA HAT BACK LONG), switch to WP6 on the TAD, CHINA HAT FWD LONG to slew to the WP marker and adjust to find the artillery. On the TGP, I see the artillery , but it is much more faint than the trucks at WP5, and see a big dark blog over them like smoke. Weird. I center the crosshairs on the arty and drop the flares. "2 AWAY", "Check target area". What?! I dropped the flares right on their heads! I go on to WP7. CHINA HAT BACK LONG to boresight the TGP. CHINA HAT FWD LONG to start looking for the convoy and I see.... NOTHING! Just a gray screen. I slew thinking that it is just on a landscape with little detail. I can see the pod head moving, but I see nothing on the TGP. I adjust my contrast again, my brightness again, and my gain again to no avail. I cannot see anything no matter what I do. Can anyone explain what may be going on? And how do I pass this freaking mission?

I am building my own mission and have been watching many you tube videos on how to use DCS Mission Editor. I have ran into a road block with a sample WAV file that I am using to test the mission. When I added it to Triggers screen, I can open and select the file from its location on the drive. However, when I go to play it in the editor, I see the scroll bar move and the time run, but I hear nothing. Note: At mission start, Flag 1 is turned ON. A Once Trigger is used with a condition to turn trigger after 30 sec past mission start. The actions are to send a message to the group (***TEST***) and to send a Sound to the group (sample WAV file). The ***TEST*** appears as programmed, but I do not hear the WAV file. I looked on this forum and it was suggested that the WAV file be in the SAVED GAMES folder. I put it in the folder and then selected the file in that location from the editor. I still cannot hear it in the editor or mission. However, when I play it on Adobe Audition or the built-in windows player, it plays fine. I then delayed the timing in the mission ( it is a ramp briefingWAV) thinking that the radios had to be ON and set to the right frequency so I could hear. Still nothing. Does anyone know the solution?

I have played all the DCS available campaigns for A-10C. I heard that Ranger79 had another campaign called Isis Crisis. Where do you find the download for this?

I am interested in starting to play multiplayer missions. I have only played single player up until this point. Are there any A-10 squadrons actively recruiting?

I have been trying to complete mission 14 for a while now. I get to the point where I am attacking the enemy convoy coming up the hill and all other mission radio communications stop. I can talk to my wingmen, but no further mission information is communicated. I have watch you tube of the mission after the convoy is taken out, arty is supposed to start firing on friendly positions at angel from camp 1, but the arty will not start. One thing, I am running with high terrain texture and there are many trees which makes it very hard to see the vehicles once they scatter once the first attack is made. They are virtually invisible when they go in the trees and sit. I tried dialing back the trees as much as possible but it is still difficult to see. Do all the vehicles have to be destroyed before the arty call is made?

The Maple Flags Training Campaigns are worth it. I have finished the BASIC and ADVANCED and am currently on mission 22 of the TACTICAL CAMPAIGN. I found the RECON STEWART's you tube clips of the Maple Flag missions was most helpful. However, he stopped producing the you tube clips on mission 19 due to some flight communication problems and did not finish the campaign once the problems were fixed. However, I find that the campaigns are excellent.

I just recently purchased a EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 SC2 8GB GPU for my system. My prior GPU was a ZOTAC GTX 1050 4GB and for the most part, the exception of FPS stutter, ran DCS 2.5.0 quite well at lower settings. After some tweaking in the A-10C control settings, I was able to get a very nice FPS with very good graphics on a med to high setting regime. However, when I attempted to overclock the GPU, in any fashion, DCS 2.5.0 would either crash soon after launching or not start at all. Bring the GPU settings back to default and all is good. Granted this is all based on my last occasion when I was able to get the FPS/Graphics I wanted and flew a mission with no problems. I may start it up again and get the stuttering back and have seen it before with the 1080. What gives? Why can I not overclock the GPU? System Spec are below.

I was browsing the DCS products and noticed that to run the new Persian Gulf Map, DCS 2.5.2 is needed. I looked up my version and it is 2.5.1. I did not see an option to download the .2 . Can someone enlighten me?

I am having a terrible time with the Advanced Training campaign air refueling mission. I have yet to hookup to the boom after over 20 attempts. I know I just need to practice and refine my setup some. But that mission takes forever to just get to the hook up point. Does anyone know where I can find a air refueling mission where I start out behind the tanker?

I loaded the new 2.5 RELEASE version and immediately had problems. When the screen loaded with the mountains showing the modules icons below. I noticed that it looked like everything was larger than normal. When I put my mouse on an icon to select it, NOTHING. I found that I had to move the mouse up the screen a little (an inch or so off the icons) and then I could select it. I managed to select A-10C and it loaded it. However, when I set it to wallpaper, it did the same thing. I cannot access the module, settings, or exit icons at the top of the screen at all. I loaded 2.5 OPEN BETA back up and it was fine. What is going on? I thought this was supposed to be better, not worse.

You're not going to insult my intelligence. I've been flying A-10C for a week; so I know next to nothing. Mic switches? I have been just using the keyboard to communicate ( [\] for the comm menu, [F5], [F1], so on........ Is this incorrect?

I am in the Basic Flight Training Campaign and just finished Mission #3 (Flying the Pattern). However, throughout this campaign, I have been unable to make contact with ATC Batumi, wingman, or anybody. The briefing gives Frequencies of: 40.4 MHz (Don't know what this one goes to) 131.00 MHz (I am setting the front VHF radio - to the dash- to this freq) 260.00 MHz (I am setting the UHF to this freq) 4.250 MHz (I am setting the back VHF radio to this freq) Mission #3 also gave Tac. Training Freq of 124.00MhZ and Guard Channel of <don't remember>. I tried the 124.00 freq, but still no response. So I go ahead and fly the mission anyway. At some point, it will be it essential to talk to ATC and anyone else. I know that I am doing something wrong. Could someone enlighten me?

How do I load my TARGET profile to A-10C Warthog?
ouseler replied to ouseler's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
I am interested in using the three position switch, boat switch, and China hat switch as modifiers for the bindings. Can that be done with the internal bindings page (Options Menu) in the game or do you have to use TARGET to do that? -

I have incorporated them into the TARGET profile. How do you attach your code? I will do that so it is more clear. -
How do I load my TARGET profile to A-10C Warthog?
ouseler replied to ouseler's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
I have looked into that option, but when I go to assign bindings to the rudder, for example, the only options are for joystick buttons and axis. Or am I just misinterpreting it? -
How do I load my TARGET profile to A-10C Warthog?
ouseler replied to ouseler's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
My rudders do not work at all if I just run without TARGET and other things that should work do not. Is that normal? -
I am new to DCS, but I have had much sim experience with Falcon 4.0 and Jane's Sims. I have even programmed my TM Cougar, TWS Throttle, and Elite Rudders with the older Foxy software with little trouble. After a hiatus of many years, I am back to tangle with DCS with a whole new system. I am frustrated by the lack of information that is provided by ED on just how to load a profile onto A-10C warthog. So far, the program is made with a .ttm file for my DEFINES. It is compiled and have tested it. It works. I have read many posts about taking the .lua generated by TARGET and copying it to : DCS Warthog directory/Config/Input/Aircrafts/A-10C/joystick, Run the profile in TARGET, and start a mission. First thing, that file path is not on my system. The closest I can find is: Program Files/Eagle Dynamics/DCS World Open Beta/Config/Input/Aircrafts/default/joystick I placed by .lua file in the joystick directory and deleted all others. When I start up a mission, say Training-Takeoff and Handling Mission, and push the Throttle forward, the aircraft veers to the left and I have to correct with my X key (Rudder Right) to straighten it. My rudder pedals should work here and they do, but not as intended. Instead, it seems that they are tied to my Throttle and advance and decrease the thrust of the engines. Obviously an axis conflict, but I have studied my code and I can't see where. Moreover, while in flight, the aircraft will randomly and suddenly veer to the left again causing the plane to go into an immediate barrel roll. If it is not corrected with X key quickly, the plane will go into an unrecoverable flat spin. I have tried going into A-10C Settings/Controls/Clicking on the Joystick column (which lists the joystick, throttle, rudder, and COMBINED) and navigating to my .lua file. But it does not load or, at least, the sticks do not behave as I have programmed them. Yes, I have made sure that Win10 is not turning the off USB drives. Can someone help with this? I don't know what else to do. Here is my system: Intel i5-6600K (liquid-cooled), 32GB 2400 RAM, PNY 480 GB SSD, Zotac Mini 1050 4GB, MSI Z270 Motherboard, Windows 10 Operating System Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog Joystick and Throttle, and Thrustmaster TFRP Rudder Pedals/Brakes. I would attach my .tmc and .ttm files, but TARGET has decided to not startup. I don't know what is up with that.
