HADS page not locking targets
ouseler replied to ouseler's topic in F-16C Last Out: Weasels over Syria II Campaign
Hmmph....Good to know. -
Hey ChillNG, I was flying mission 4 and hit the main targets using the TGP and markpoints. Then I looked for more targets and when the SA-6 popped up I cursored over to it on the HADS page and TMS up but it did not lock the target. Tried a few times, but it would not lock on. This has happened in Part 2 of Mission 9 FIWOS and I had to restart the mission to get it to work. Do you know what the problem could be?

FINALLY!!!! The wingman did his job this time. I kept it high looking through the breaks in the clouds. I had the wingman fire a HARM at the SA-6 on the way in. He said that it went dark and thought it shutdown. So I knew I needed to keep a CBU. Got done with my runs on the stationary targets and turned my attention to the SA-6. I over flew the area a few times and could not get it to turn on. So I went below the clouds and found that it was dead. The HARM shot got it. It's one of the most challenging missions I have flown. The clouds really complicate things. Thanks for your help. Sorry I was so whiny.

Well, I flew the mission once again and got all three stationary targets. I ignored the SA-6 going in and just concentrated on my stationary targets. I bombed the airbase SA-2 thinking I didn't hit it because my wingman did not say anything. But when I dropped on it again, I say that I did hit it the first time. So that meant I had no bombs left. The SA-6 popped up again and I told my wingman to hit with HARMs. But he did nothing. I repeatedly told my wingman to hit the SA-6, again nothing. So I had to go in and attempt to strafe it, but crashed. I am beyond frustrated with this mission.

I dropped on steerpoint 9 making sure the TGP cued over to it and then TMS up. But the bomb fell a good mile short. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Background: When the SA-6 appears during the initial sweep. I went below the clouds and got a TGP fix on it. Then I asked the wingman to take a HARM shot. When the SA-6 shutdown, I rushed in and dropped on it. Somehow, I didn't hit. Anyway, I un-designated the SA-6 on the HAD screen with TMS down. Selected Steerpoint 9, but the target designator box in the HUD wasn't even close to Steerpoint 9. I backed off to Steerpoint 8 then back on to Steerpoint 9 again. This time it seemed to appear to be on Steerpoint 9, but the clouds make this impossible to verify. I run in and drop the bomb and it is nowhere close. I am getting frustrated with investing so much time to get there and coming up short on the SA-2 drops. How do I verify that the bomb is targeted on the Steerpoint?
-
I know in Mission 3 there are (2) stationary SA-2 sites that I can drop on through the clouds. However, when I selected the steerpoint and dropped the bomb, it hit nowhere near the intended target. I had a break in the clouds for one of them and was able to get the TGP on it and made a successful drop on that site. I went below the clouds to acquire the second SA-2. Bad idea; I got jumped by an SA-8 and didn't survive. My question is: Can I drop on a steerpoint or do I have to make it a Markpoint to get SOI?

No, it doesn't suck. Now that I found the issue and can actually enjoy flying without seeing every frame, the CPU and GPU I have now at max settings (4K, max everything) are just jogging (75% max) during DCS missions. ED, bring it on. I'm ready.
-
I found the issue in GeForce Experience. In the System Tab, there is a Hz setting for the monitor. The Monitor Refresh rate was set to 30 Hz, thus the GPU was capped at 30 FPS; makes sense. I set it to my monitor refresh rate and buttery smoothness returned!!
-
I recently built another rig to replace the old one. The old one ran great no problems, I just wanted to upgrade. However, Since I have ran DCS with the new rig, the GPU (the same GPU from the old rig) is only producing 30 FPS making game play less than the buttery smoothness that it was. Here is my old/new system specs: OLD SYSTEM AMD 5950X CPU, MSI Ventus 3 4080 OC GPU, Aorus Elite X570 Mobo, 32GB RAM, 4TB Samsung EVO 990 (DCS drive), Running DCS in 4K at max settings, Track IR 5 NEW SYSTEM AMD 7800X3D CPU, same GPU from old system, MSI X670E MPG Carbon Mobo, 32 GB RAM, Same drive from old system, Running DCS in 4K at max settings, Track IR 5 Things I have tried to improve my FPS: 1. Went into settings of GeForce Experience and increased the FPS slide to 120PFS 2. Checked the FPS slider in DCS (120). I surmise this is a software problem and not a hardware. Does anyone have a suggestion about what my problem is and what I can do to improve myu FPS?

Perfect!! This will work great for target list situations. Thanks!!!

I know how to set a Steerpoint using LAT/LONG. How would I set a Steerpoint/WP/Markpoint using bearing and range from Bullseye?

I have been flying a SEAD campaign in which a ground target (SAM emitter) is called out as "224 for 26", for example. Now I could simply use the HAD page to cursor over to the displayed target (coordinates are shown on the lower portion of the page) and designate the target once it has detected the emitter and triangulates its relative position. The TGP would follow and, if dropping a bomb, I would fine tune the location and designate thru the TGP for the drop. Easy enough. Of course, the emitter is active and that can be a problem in of itself. However, what if I am given a target list of confirmed target locations but they are not emitting and I want to hit them before they can go active? Currently I use the HAD page and cursor over to the coordinates and find the relative location to the target from me or a Steerpoint. Then I go the TGP page and make it SOI, then flip over the HSD and move the TGP cursor to the relative location and attempt to find the target from there. However, I don't see similar coordinates to the HAD page on the HSD page have to go to the relative location from memory and hope to find the target. Is there a way to show the HAD page coordinates "224 26", for example, on the HSD so I can (at least for known target locations) cursor over to the coordinates and then flip over to the TGP and be very close to the target location?

Hi ChillNG, I was doing Mission 9 Part 2 and was using the target list coordinates to find the SA-11 straight away. I was successful in locating it and dropped a -105 on it before it could go active; destroying it. However, later on in the mission, the RWR showed a SA-11 spike in that vicinity. It never fired on me and the HADS page only showed a Search Radar in that area. Is there another SA-11 in that same area or is this a bug?

Hey ChillNG, I tried your advice on the datalink issues for Weasels FIWOS (aligning the INS before turning the MIDs and DL on). It did not seem to help things immediately, but I did notice my wingman did show up on the HDS much later in the mission. I guess some things cannot be helped when working with ED code. Other than that, as always, you delivered a high quality product as real to life as can be made and still appeal to the masses (I'm sure sacrifices were made to procedures and protocols to make more "playable" for the average Joe). Of course, us hardcore simmers would want the "full monty", but that just isn't as marketable to everyone. Anyway, I love your stuff and encourage you to keep pumping it out as I will, most certainly, purchase it.

I don't know if this has been addressed yet. But the DataLink in Weasels Campaigns does not work. I have watched Bogey Dope's videos of the campaign and he addresses the issue by shutting OFF the GPS Time and then turning it back on. It works for him, but not for me. I have notice in his videos, the bottom of the GPS Time reads INPROG when he first switches it ON and changes to COARSE and then FINE. The icon shows up on the HDS. However, when I shut OFF and turn back on, it immediately goes to COARSE then FINE, but the ICON never appears on the HDS. Just thought you should know. It would be nice to have.

Mission 9 and 10 Rockeye Drops
ouseler replied to ouseler's topic in F/A-18C Operation Cerberus North Campaign
I just looked at another post where Rogersim commented on mission 10 regarding that specific target. He provided his mission video and I watched that portion. His settings were CCIP, PRI, but no setting for EFUZ. I watch the roll in and there was a vertical line as if a CCRP approach. As he dove in, the vertical line went away and was replaced with the CCIP symbology (line extending from velocity vector and "X" at the bottom). Don't know why it just changed to what it was supposed to be, but it did. He made the drop successfully. I just dread the thought of having to replay the whole thing just to get to that portion of the mission to find if I can get it to work. -
I think there is something wrong with the Mode setting for the Rockeyes in Missions 9 and 10 (perhaps cluster and GP, in general). I can't drop them in CCIP mode. It keeps wanting to only do an CCRP drop. I noticed it on Mission 9 but didn't give it much thought, but in Mission 10 I tried to drop on the secondary scud targets in CCIP mode and even when selecting CCIP as I am rolling in on the target it will not switch over to that mode. I did the rearm/refuel screen for the Rockeyes while in the hangar leaving everything as is, just hitting OK and going on. I set the Mode to CCIP, MFUZ to PRI, EFUZ to INST. I could not set the burst height though. This may not be a campaign issue, but an ED issue. Just wanted to see if anyone else had the same problem.

Mission 7 penetrator will not detonate
ouseler replied to ouseler's topic in F/A-18C Operation Cerberus North Campaign
Like I said before, there has been testing done by a guy I know concerning the SA-15 radar and ways to defeat it using either steep dive angles (right on top of it) or releasing in level flight but at very close lateral range to get the same effect with weapon trajectory. It seems the SA-15, at least in DCS, has a limit to what it can see directly overhead. So it essentially has a blind spot "cone" directly overhead. With it being a SHORAD, you can fly over it if high enough and drop right on top of it and it will not be able to shotdown the ordinance. At least, that's the theory and this latest update may have rewritten its logic making my point moot. But I'll give the default fuze set to INST a go from the rearm/refuel page and see what transpires. -
Just stay fast/low, out of burner, and wide of the village on the 3rd pass and be pre-emptive with your flares. The Igla should bite off on the flares. Then take out the Manpad with your remaining JDAM. You will be able to engage the troops approaching the tree line unmolested. And Newt....well, you can't control that. It happened to me when I flew it. Newt, became a yard dart for no reason. That's ED's sandbox to play in and fix. Even Ground Pounder can't control that.

Mission 7 penetrator will not detonate
ouseler replied to ouseler's topic in F/A-18C Operation Cerberus North Campaign
Ahh, perhaps that is what is going on. When Hekktor said something about 70deg angle it makes sense. At 70 degrees dive angle, the bomb was dropped inside the radar cone blind spot for the SA15, it can't see the bomb to shot down. That means I will need to be much closer to the target when I drop. However, I am not getting any RWR warnings for the SA15. In fact, it's pretty quiet when I go over the target. And when I watch the Tacview, it does not show the bomb getting shot down by SA-15. I watch it go all the way into the target (I think it's the target). Tacview is not good at showing stationary targets so I don't know if I hit or not(unless I have some settings off that can show that, which is possible). Come to think of it, tacview is only showing my wingman and myself deploying weapons. The SEAD flights report taking out targets but I never see them fire off weapons in Tacview. If the SA15 shotdowns are intended features now, would it be prudent to HARM Pre Plan the SA-15? Even if the HARM does not hit because the SA-15 radar switches off or stays off as a defensive measure, I can still get in and drop the bomb on target unmolested if my timing is right. By the way, this is a penetrator. Should it not have a delay on the fuze setting? Thank you for that information. And I just want to say. In my opinion, Cerberus North is the GOLD STANDARD for DCS campaigns thus far. Absolutely, the best campaign I have ever played. The amount of detail in the missions (and the little eccentricities within the missions [in-flight emergencies, having to hunt through a frequency block to find the JTAC, some radio frequencies not set to brief and have to be manually adjusted, mission briefings, the SPINS documentation is incredibly immersive, the voiceovers] make for a real world feel. BRAVO!!! The voice overs, especially impress me. Most are short, concise, and professional (I understand the occasional deviations from real world Comms etiquette for better appeal to non-Hardcore Simmers). To be honest, in most campaigns, the voice overs kill the immersion, due to their lack of procedure and professionalism (things that just would not be said over the radio). You nailed that while still keeping it appealing for everyone. I'm a HUGE fan of your work and I'm very excited to experience your other endeavors. -
Mission 7 penetrator will not detonate
ouseler replied to ouseler's topic in F/A-18C Operation Cerberus North Campaign
ANOTHER DUD!!!! Hekktor, you are talking about angles and velocity. I did not see that on the arming page for the penetrator (Arm/Refuel screen). All I saw was arm time and delay timer. How do you get that to come up? What is the appropriate fuze to use? Where do I get this information? What is a good arming time? This fuzing stuff is great for the sim, but Jeez, we need more information to properly run these missions and not waste our time. Oh, and the penetrator was on Pre Planned mode. I can't watch the bomb go in (realtime) for some reason. I used to. I'm wondering if it is even hitting the target. I don't see any dirt plums. I'm thinking about doing a TOO drop next round. That way I know the correct location is designated. IDK, I'm just frustrated.
