  1. Okay, let me make this more clear: There's me, and then there's most other people. I have tooltips off in my local DCS settings. When I join DDCS sever, tooltips are on anyway. When most other people (who have tooltips off in their settings) join DDCS server, tooltips are off. Why? EDIT: Follow up question: Tooltips aren't in the list of mission settings in the ME, so where in the world do you select whether to enforce tooltips when creating a mission?
  2. Certain settings in MP, like tooltips and rudder assistance (for applicable modules) are forced on MP missions, but only for select people. I go and fly with friends and these things are stuck on for some of us and not for others. It's always the same people who have the setting forced. I'm one of them. For example, if I fly in the DDCS server I have tooltips forced on - when I ask about it others say they don't have the issue.
  3. As far as I know from my own experiences and testing, anything classified as a "missile" is visible to radar and can be intercepted by certain SAMs. Anything classified as a bomb or rocket is completely transparent to radar, and cannot be intercepted by missiles or point defense gun systems. Why should a JSOW be able to be intercepted, but a 2000 lb GBU-31 not be? Why should a Hydra rocket be invisible to a C-RAM, but the same thing with a APKWS kit installed is able to be shot down?
  4. I don't think this really belongs here but I wasn't sure where else to put this: The system requirements on the DCS download page have not been updated since the OB release of DCS 2.5, more than 5 years ago now. As someone who has been using the same system for almost 5 years (except for a GPU upgrade 1 year ago), these requirements are extremely outdated. -Performance dropped in the notorious 2.5.6 update -Performance dropped with 2.7 -Performance dropped with 2.8 -Performance on newer maps is worse -Performance is worse when using newer assets A GTX 1080 for VR? Sure, in 2018 back in 2.5.5 that worked great. Now that's laughably incapable - I should know, I had one up until a year ago. Please update the system requirements, because what is published on the website currently is a straight up lie.
  5. Apparently editing the VR mask size now breaks IC check for no reason. Also a while ago I made a post about editing default CMS programs breaking IC as well, because there are no DTC's implemented and who likes having to set that up every time they start a mission or spawn in MP. That post has been completely ignored. Recommendation: if you're not going to make it an option to change in game, then don't make it break IC.
  6. @Ala13_ManOWar No, you don't understand what I'm saying. Your understanding of what I'm saying is very far removed from what I'm actually saying. Keep trying though, you might figure it out.
  7. Have you ever created a mission??? You call it an option, but the crux of the problem is that it's NOT an option. See this list of options below? These correspond to options in the "Gameplay" section of the regular options menu. This section of the mission editor allows the mission creator to select whether or not he/she wants to enforce a certain option one way or another, or just leave it up to the user's local settings. So for example, a mission creator can enforce labels off or on, or they can just leave it up to the settings of each user if they don't care. Do you see takeoff assistance anywhere in this list? Well, It's not on the list. A mission creator should either be able to choose whether or not it's enforced, or it just shouldn't be enforced. As it is right now, if my friend and I want to fly together, and he wants to use takeoff assist and I don't well tough <profanity>. One of us is going to be unhappy. Do you understand what I'm saying? Also, I figured out why I was still able to use my personal options when flying those missions in SP... I have the "No force from mission, use mine" setting on. I never even saw it was there on the bottom right of the gameplay options until just now. @Art-J You might want to check and see whether or not you have this option on, it may stop takeoff assist being on in the aforementioned training missions.
  8. Alright, I've got some more info here. My friend and I flew a mission on a dedicated server last night. His takeoff assistance was on when he saved the mission, and so it was forced on for me as well. If I take that mission file and load it in SP, takeoff assistance is off in accordance with my settings. Today, I had him turn off takeoff assistance and then re-save the mission and put it up on the server. It was now off for me as well. I then went back into my settings, turned takeoff assistance on, and confirmed that it was working in a SP mission. I went back into the server and takeoff assistance was still forced off. Conclusion: when a mission is loaded onto a dedicated server (and possibly a locally hosted one too, haven't tested this) the takeoff assistance setting of the user who created the mission will be globally enforced. @NineLine It's a strong possibility that this error may extend to other "special settings" and even regular difficulty settings. I seem to recall having a similar issue with "Easy Communication" a while back, where the settings of the user who created the mission would be globally enforced, regardless of whether the option was "enforced" or not.
  9. Since the 2.8 update, changing the default values for the countermeasure dispenser programs breaks IC. I haven't tested this for other aircraft yet. This shouldn't break IC, and now I'm back to having set up the programs every time I get into a new A/C or restart a mission.
  10. I'm really glad you've just posted this, because I've been asking around (and even posted about it once too, a while ago now) and you're the very first person I've come across who could confirm this.
  11. In my settings Takeoff assistance is off, yet on some MP servers it's on anyway. No idea what's happening here, this isn't a mission specific setting like wake turbulence or external views is AFAIK. It's very annoying and I'd like to figure out why this is happening. I've been having this problem for at least 2 years as well.
  12. Hi, With the rise in interest for Cold War settings, it would be fantastic to be able to fit the Hornet into a Late Cold war scenario by disallowing the use of things like the HMD or MIDS. We already have the ability to swap out the HMD for NVGs, so I don't imagine it would be terribly difficult to give mission editors the option of disallowing the HMD entirely. Perhaps it could also be done on a mission date basis, like the GPS functionality. Thanks!
  13. OXR with no reprojection is absolutely not smoother than SteamVR with reprojection, at least for my setup. If OXR's reprojection didn't create horrible tearing then I'd use OXR. Without reprojection it's a no from me.
  14. Even with PD at 1.0 and resolution at 100 percent in both OpenXR and SteamVR, OpenXR still performs worse
  15. @Hammer1-1 Well I don't have a G2, anything below 1.4 and readability of cockpit displays suffers. I'll try boosting the resolution in OpenXR Tools instead but in my experience for whatever reason DCS's PD setting creates a clearer picture for the same performance hit
  16. I have worse performance when using OpenXR. Followed steps to the letter afaik. I was really hoping this could pump a little life into my older rig until the new GPU's came out. Samsung O+, 8700k GTX 1080. Most settings are minimum except texture quality. 100 percent res on SteamVR and OpenXR Tools, 1.4 PD Testing using F-18 Caucuses free flight.
  17. +1 Fantastic idea
  18. Hi, Just trying to put together a list of features which (AFAIK) were planned at one point and still haven't been implemented, or things I've noticed just aren't finished, and was curious if any of these things are (still?) on the table for the Hornet now that it has left EA. If there's anything I missed please feel free to add to this list. -A complete manual (many things are still missing from the EA guide, such as information on the MIDS MFD page -ACLS -MUMI page -UFC BU page (I swear I remember seeing this as a placeholder at one point on the SUPT menu but now it's gone) -Full implementation of the TGT DATA page -Surface radar TA mode -A/A radar ECCM mode -Ability to address weapons on dual racks individually (May or not have been planned or even actually exist, can't remember where I heard this one) -Finished implementation of GPS guided weapons -FD release mode -Pre-panned IZLAR's and multiple attack points -To be honest I don't know if the launch point and terminal options are implemented fully or not, I can't find any good info on it -Probably other stuff I'm not remembering -ADM-141 TALD implementation -Mk 77 Fire bomb implementation What is the status on these things? Lastly, is there any planned model/texture updates for the Hornet, a la A-10C? The A-10, F-16, and Apache cockpits look amazing and the Hornet has kind of been left in the dust both in the actual 3D model and the textures. Thanks
  19. Hi @NineLine Sorry I've taken so long to respond - I forgot about this post completely. I was under the impression that any settings in the "special settings" tab in game (where you set special settings per aircraft) were completely separate from mission options. If there is a way to interact with these things in mission settings please direct me to that. As far as more specifics - the thing @hazzer mentions is a problem I've had before, but this seems different. I have had an issue where if the person who made the mission had easy communication on, then it was forced on for everyone in the mission despite the fact that it wasn't enforced in the mission settings. However, for this problem the mission creator doesn't have the option on. Additionally, other players in the mission aren't affected by the problem. The main difference is that, again, AFAIK takeoff assistance isn't actually a mission setting.
  20. Pretty self explanatory. Went to load up an old mission that had rain (which I had played since 2.7 released, everything worked fine), noticed there wasn't any rain. Came to find out that no matter what I did with the weather settings in any mission there was no precipitation. No rain effects, no rain sounds, no raindrops on the cockpit, nothing.
  21. Pretty much what it says in the title. I have takeoff assistance off, but on certain MP servers it's forced on for me. This doesn't occur to any of the people I'm flying with, just me. Yes, I've turned it off an on again both in the game and in the settings file.
  22. Pretty much what it says in the title. I have takeoff assistance off, but on certain MP servers it's forced on for me. This doesn't occur to any of the people I'm flying with, just me. Yes, I've turned it off an on again both in the game and in the settings file.
  23. I've been having issues (that existed before DCS 2.7) with my settings when joining a MP server. Certain settings are acting as though they are forced on or off, even when the difficulty settings on the mission are set to local. For example, I have easy communication turned off. On some multiplayer servers, even though the difficult lists "Easy Communication: Off (Local)", it will still be forced on. It also applies to some special settings, like takeoff assistance in the P-51. I have rudder assistance and takeoff assistance both off, yet when I join multiplayer servers and fly the P-51 takeoff assistance is on. I did some experimenting with a friend a while back. We discovered that when I joined a mission that he created, his local settings would be applied to me despite the fact that the mission wasn't set up to enforce any of them.
  24. @BIGNEWY I should add that @speed-of-heat is correct about edge cases. I use a Samsung Odyssey+ with the VRCover face pad. It's basically a necessity on this headset as the stock one is hard as a brick which hurts your face and allows massive light bleed. Anyway the VRCover allows my face to get closer to the lenses, expanding my FoV and allowing me to see the mask on the edges of my vision.
  25. Thanks everyone!
