  1. I had this problem too. But it was a while ago. I seem to remember that not clicking directly in the box seemed to work. Trying clicking just outside the box. Hopefully this helps.
  2. So, I have been trying a bunch of settings today. I can confirm that Local Dimming IS working. But the blacks in the loading screens are much darker, and without the brown haze around the edges then once in a mission. Maybe it's the headset. Or something else...or possible just me! Ha. I don't recall it being as bad just a few weeks ago. I have messed with the brightness, and the gamma. Oh well. I guess I can live with it. Thanks for all the replies. Oh, and my gamma is set to 2.1. I have experimented with different settings there and that seems to work well for me.
  3. Did you notice a difference? The title of my post should actually be that Local Dimming on the Quest Pro seems to have stopped working in all of DCS. I can tell even at the main menu, Local Dimming is not working. Again, when I am in the PC Link main screen, I can see that local dimming IS working. It's unfortunate as I remember when Local Dimming was turned on in DCS, the night missions looked great and dark.
  4. Thanks for the reply. But yes, that ugly haze is definitely there when local dimming is not being applied, such as in the Meta Home Screen. But when I switch to my PCVR link cable, I can tell it is working and black colors get dark, even at the edges of the headset. Something changed...could be me, DCS, Meta...anything is possible. I have been away for a week and will try again tomorrow to see if any change has occurred.
  5. I was playing some night missions a couple of days ago, and all looked good. The local dimming in my Quest Pro looked nice and dark as I am use to. Today, I started a night mission and noticed that the local dimming doesn't appear to be working once in the mission. The Quest Pro gives off a brownish glow around the edges when Local Dimming isn't active. This is with PCVR Link cable. I checked that local dimming is enabled in the debug tool. And I can also tell Local Dimming is working when I switch to PC Link. Any ideas? Night missions don't look that great without the local dimming enabled in the Pro. thanks!
  6. I never tried pressing the [ or ] with the pilot body knee board. In VR it’s not really something I think most people would want to do. Would be nice if the VR pointer would be able to change the pages.
  7. I have searched and couldn’t find anything in this topic, so my question: When having the pilot body on in the F18, the knee board that shows on the left knee is great. But can I add more information like AAR refueling TACAN frequencies, JTAC, or other airport information relevant to the flight? It would be nice to be able to have more information than just the carrier info. And perhaps be able to have multiple pages as well on the knee board. Including checklists. I have tried the knee board that can be brought up on screen and edited that one, however, in VR, the one on the pilot’s knee is more engaging and “realistic.” Thanks!
  8. I am also having this issue. My X button on the oculus controller is what I have set up to center my VR view. It works in other modules and on the main screen, but doesn't do anything in the Apache. Must be some setting I have wrong. Will keep looking into it. But if anyone has an answer, I would appreciate it. Thanks
  9. I just struggled with Logging into the game on the 1.5 main screen. Did not accept my username and/or password. Finally I figured out that my password for the forums is different from the one needed to download modules on DCS main page and also Login on 1.5 main screen. My first letter of my password on the forums is not capitalized and on the DCS download page for modules and such, the first letter is capitalized. Anyway, check your passwords. Hope this helps someone.
  10. Thanks for all the replies! @USSInchon -- It may have been a bit too light out yet for the EVS to look right ( although possibly). Actually, I havent flown the actual plane at night yet so I have not had a chance to mess with the EVS. Looking forward to it. For anyone wondering, the EVS ( Ehanced Vision) is a FLIR camera that will display its image through the HUD ( and you can display on the screens as well). One use, in good weather, is being able to spot wildlife on runways. You can also avoid driving over chocks on a dark ramp! Its pretty amazing. I will try to get some more pics up in the next few weeks.
  11. I have been flying corporate aircraft for 15 years. This year, I finally got a type rating in an amazing aircraft. The Gulfstream 550. And, the most fun thing in training was using the HUD! All my years of flying DCS A10C (and other military sims in the past) made the transition to using the HUD so easy! It was so natural to use it because of all my simming. The instructors had said a lot of people take a long time (or some people, never) to get used to it. Thank you DCS! I took this picture while sitting on the ground in Boston, and figured this group of people will appreciate it. I had sent it to some (non-pilot, non simming) friends and they didnt appreciate the "coolness" factor. I figured I would put it here because you would all understand, haha. P.S. Not sure why the pic is coming up distorted. Looks ok when I was attaching it.
  12. This is something found on the Microsoft site. Looks like the Kinect for PC is coming relatively soon. http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/kinectforwindowsdev/newdevkit.aspx
  13. So I just got Battlefield 4 up and running on my Xbox One. Went to the test range and Jumped into a helicopter. Having turned on headtracking for the kinect not knowing what to expect i started flying the helicopter. Holy crap.....i looked around while flying and the kinect worked like a charm!! I seriously flew it for 10 seconds before i felt i had to write this. With no calibration or sensitivity adjustment it works really well! I am sure there will be issues and it wont be perfect, but this is so promising for the future of simulators (if it comes to PC) I had heard the Kinect will come to the PC eventually (thought i read that somewhere a while ago). If this is the case, this will be the future of headtracking (for me at least). I love my TrackIr, but this will be 1000 times smoother if it makes it to PC with the right software. Going to go back to experimenting....
  14. Apologies if this has ever been posted here before. Enjoy.
  15. Thanks Blooze, firing it up now, worked great!
  16. After joining a couple different mp servers, i find that i cant rearm my aircraft in the start of the mission. I get to pick what loadout I want on the aircraft, then the ground crew says "copy." Then i get a "rearming complete" from the ground crew. But nothing shows up on the pylons. Do i have to setup the radios differently? I feel that since the ground crew answers me I am doing it right. But, I guess i am not. Any help would be appreciated.
  17. Serial # 13966 Location: Lehigh Valley, PA
  18. Shurugal: after checking, i think you are right. I had downloaded DSCW on july 4. But that was 1.1.2 I am downloading 1.2 now. All those 1's and 2's, i didnt see it. Thanks! I am guessing this will work.
  19. BlackDog: Yes. That is what I did. I only reinstalled the previous version to activate it on my pc (in case that had something to do with it). Then erased that version and reinstalled the module.
  20. So I havent played Dcs in a while. I built a new computer a few months ago (core i7, windows 7 64) and installed DCS Warthog on it. However, when i tried to fly i found that my cougar had become unresponsive. So, without a joystick I never flew a mission and therefore never activated my copy. I decided to order the TM Warthog hotas which i received yesterday (amazing). I uninstalled my DSC Warthog and installed DCSW. I then installed the latest version of Warthog and the "money" symbol is gone. However, it doesnt show me any available instant action or quick missions for the A10. And when i create a simple mission with myself as A10 player, the mission starts and wont even show an A10. Just the couple enemy trucks and tanks i threw in there is all i can see. I uninstalled everything including save games then reinstalled, no luck. I then deleted DCSW again. I installed previous standalone A10, activated that copy, deleted it, reinstalled DCSW and A10, and still no luck. I feel i am probably missing some easy step. And i was enjoying some scotch last night while doing this so it could very well be user error...........any ideas?
  21. That may be true of that incident. But, when i was "experimenting" both engines were at idle reverse (basically, buckets deployed with no thrust applied other than idle). So, a failure of one engine would really have no advesre affect. I fly a lear 55 now, and we do practice thrust reverser deployment at v1. It is flyable as long as you put enought rudder in. I dont have any large turbo prop time, but, my guess he must have been right at stall speed with the operating engine producing lots of power.
  22. Actually, if a engine failed at that moment, you would have less reverse force since only one engine is generating reverse thrust.
  23. I used to fly a gulfstream II. I had heard back in the day, pilots used to deploy reverse before touchdown. So, me, being experimental, decided to try it. Just over the threshold, throttles at idle, deployed the tr's. It was very smooth. I felt a slight decrease in airspeed and the nose lifted just a bit. The touchdown was smooth. The only downside would have been having to do a go around. Anyway, hope i am not rambling too much, i am on a charter trip to bermuda this weeknd and on my 3rd pint of Guiness!
