  1. I'm looking for suggestions on other shops to order this from within the USA? I don't care where the shop is actually located, but some won't ship this to the USA (amazon.co.uk for example). I pre-ordered at BLT, but they look to very much be performing a bait and switch game and will be cancelling my order unless they can confirm that our pre-order price will hold.
  2. Well, kind of. I do have one pre-ordered, but I'm in the USA and there appears to be quite a bit of debate about when, if at all in the next month, we'll be seeing them. The annoying thing is that this was supposed to be out in June of this year. I had planned on getting it at that time as a present to myself for graduating medical school...I'm still considering it that way, but I've been waiting for many many months already.
  3. If only my TM Warthog was in the same delivery status as the patch :(...just wish I knew when it was actually coming.
  4. I understand that they are smaller, but I am personally ok with that. My goal is to make a very near replica of the A-10 panel, but ultimately function is my priority. So if I'm off an inch or two here or there I'm ok with it. My goal is that everything is 1) fully functional and 2) is in the same spot. I'm ok if things look the same, but are scaled a bit differently sizewise. Being able to use off the shelf components will make this build project much easier.
  5. By this do you mean nVidia vs. ATI (haven't heard of AMD chipsets)? And are you recommending the same specific chip series (i.e. two GTX275's) or within the same chip line (i.e. GT2xx, like a GTX 285 and a GT260 or such)? If I recall correctly all of the GT2xx line uses a single driver installer (I don't know if this is actually the same driver or several different ones bundles in to one installer). Thanks for all the help you guys have given.
  6. Well would you look at that. I actually have the GA-EX58-UD3R (not the GA-X58A-UD3R), I always have issues remembering this. However, it's been a while since I built this one and it looks like it does actually have two PCI-e x16 slots. Turns out it was the straight PCI slot I only have one of. So, do I really need to have 2 identical cards if I'm not doing SLI? Or can I run the game on the GTX285 and get a cheaper more reasonable card for the fairly low demand of the MFCD monitors?
  7. I've been toying aorund with the idea of building a home cockpit for a while now. With the DCS A-10C essentially out (I know it has some work, but the beta is quite good even at this point) and the TM Warthog coming soon it seems natural for this to be an A-10C. I'm starting with the front panel and will collect all the equipment for the MFCD's, CMS display, RWR, backup gauges etc. before designing a panel to use (to avoid have conflicts of space that need makeshift resolutions...this will be well planned onceI have the actual equipment). My first starting point are the MFCD's. I just recieved the TM MFCD's and have been following some of the threads on monitors to use with them. I am planning on a couple of 8" LCD's. So on to the question. My video card currently only has 2 DVI and an s-video output. I only use one monitor at the moment and my understanding is that even if I do upgrade to TH2G, this still only uses one output. However, this still leaves me with only 1 DVI to power to 8" LCD's for the MFCD's. So, how do I do this? I have a GTX 285 that I have no reasons performance wise to upgrade. I also do not have any more full PCI-e slots (just a couple legacy PCI and the mini PCI-e slots). Options I thought of: 1. USB monitors: my understanding is that a USB monitor is not a great idea as there will likely be performance issues. Will these issues be in the refresh rate of the monitor, or will the whole game have lower FPS while the system tries to process USB monitors? 2. A PCI video card:...if I can even find one anymore. Again, I understand there may be a performance issue, but I'm not sure how much it may show if that card is just running 2 8" LCD at relatively low resolution. 3. TH2Gish: is there any way of "splitting" one out put to the two monitors and having the computer think it's one bigger monitor. So instead of two 640x480 (or whatever), the computer outputs 1280x480 and then I just position the MFCD's to display in the proper parts of this "combined" display. 4. A new video card: I see some of the newer video cards have 2 DVI and an HDMI output. I've been thinking of a new monitor at some point too (mine is a 5+ year old 19" 4:3 LCD). Do some of the newer ones use HDMI so I would still have 2 DVI slots available? I'm not really to interested in the idea of a new motherboard with an extra full PCI-e slot for an extra video card. The idea of reinstalling my whole system (well, full reinstall may not be necessary, but reactivating a lot of stuff at least) doesn't appeal to me. Additionally, I don't know if I have a lot more room in my case for the extra power cables needed for another high end video card. The rest of my computer specs are: Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R Intel i7-920 OC to 3.5 GHz with Megahelem cooler (to go to 3.8-4.0 GHz when I get better RAM) 3 x 2 GB 1333 MHz Corsair RAM 3 x WD SATA HD 2 x SATA DVD/RW Soundblaster Audigy PCI-e Corsair 750W PSU GTX 285 1 GB Any thoughts or input on solving this dilema would be much appreciated.
  8. Ok, this is targeted at several people, not just Mule... But this isn't even a case of RTFM, it's in this very thread. Come on, just do a little reading and see what you find. Then if you're still confused, post.
  9. I believe only the CCD/TV ones have force correlate...now I can't remember if those are the D, H or K's.
  10. I just need my TM Warthog...I'm about all out of hats and shift modes and still need to get the boat switch (for force correlate) and mic on my stick.
  11. China aft long slews TGP to SPI. China hat forward long slews all sensors (including maverick) to SPI. By default, keys C and V(?).
  12. Yes it does. No I haven't learned how to use it yet.
  13. I'll have to look harder. I took a quick look under the general questions and the avionics and weapons subforums and saw nothing there. Thanks though.
  14. There was a long thread about maverick employement that had been on this board and now seems to be gone. I had comeback this morning hoping to read up on any new information as it seemed quite active. I don't mean to stir up issues, but what happened to it? Did it degenerate over the last day or has it been moved/merged somewhere? Again, not trying to stir things up if it went the route of the former, just wanted to know where all the information was if it's still around.
  15. Well it does depend on how you look at the variables. What you say is the correct and traditional aviation way of looking at this issue because IAS reflects airspeed over the wings generating lift. However, you can make either GS or IAS your fixed constant and head/tail winds will affect the other.
  16. That's interesting to know about the 8-10,000' floor. I guess my PGM employement is closer to realistic realm than I realized. However, it leads to more questions...how do they employ the gun when their slant range at the floor in a 90 degree dive is still 1.7 NM? Do they use it at longer slant ranges than the 1 NM discussed in the DCS training mission, not use the gun as often or maybe get cleared below the floor when they do? Just curious.
  17. I'm wondering if anyone can shed some light on real life attack profiles for the A-10? I'm starting to get a hang of the systems, but still am by far most effective employing weapons if I can sit up at 6-10,000' with autopilot on (particularly true for mavericks) and setup my targeting systems before diving in. I know in some instances this may be realistic and I know in real life (as it should be in the sim) that target type, threat locations and surrouding terrain will all dictate the attack profile. In general though, any comments? When does an A-10 sit out up high (by which I mean 5-10,000' MSL) and when are they down low and dirty? I'd like to start practicing munitions deployement with realistic profiles to avoid getting in bad habits. I feel like the A-10 is classicly always down low, but the videos I see of this are employing the GAU-8 and dumb bombs (particularly CBU's). And in fact, I prefer to be down low in these cases. They do seem to be at a bit more altitude with smart weapons. I'm particularly curious about the maverick profiles, as currently I employ it best if I can edit out airframe motion (by using autopilot) and then lock using slew. However, this only tends to work if terrain avoidance is not an issue. If it is, I spend too much time head down trying to get a lock for this to be done safely.
  18. Well, I'm not going to miss a single thing about my X-52. First off, you get the whole autopilot, flaps, etc panel on the throttles with the TM Warthog. ...And I'm just sick and tired of my X-52. It looked great with all of those buttons. What I didn't realize is how annoying it's very loose centering mechanism and very jittering position sensors would get. Oh well, it's nearly over.
  19. I tried that and the "slow" option uses incremental view angles (i.e. snaps for 0 to 45 degrees or whatever). I was hoping for a panning effect. I really should probably just sort out whatever issues I need to get TrackIR to work on 64 bit systems (not to mention actually buying it).
  20. Is there a way to change the panning speed for the camera view? I have the camera view mapped to a HAT switch (TrackIR is on the list, but after pre-ordering the TM Warthog, it'll be a little bit) and the camera view pans very quickly. I'd like to slow the speed down 30-50% so that I can more reasonable use the HAT switch.
  21. Ok, so I found the link. However, I am told that my access is denied. I've checked to be sure that my forum e-mail and username is the same on the forum, e-mail sales receipt and my login to the ED site. Any suggestions? Should I fill out a support request on the ED site or is there another more appropriate person to talk to about this?
  22. I'm still having difficulties. On the download page I can not find any link to activate the forum access. Can someone point out to me where I should find it on the page? I'm probably just blind, but I don't see it anywhere.
  23. I for the life of me can't find my way to the A-10C closed beta forum. My understanding is that my ID was supposed to somehow automatically be activated when I pre-purchased. However, I can't find the beta forum and as far as I'm aware, I only have one login at the forum/store.
  24. Well, I've been on the verge of breaking down and buying TrackIR for MSFS. Now that I need all these hat switches for the A-10 systems, I think DCS A-10C will push me over the edge. I have one question though... I've seen some discussion about TrackIR not having 64 bit drivers. I use Windows 7 64-bit (DCS A-10C 32-bit won't even run on my computer and want to make sure I understand this correctly. My understanding is that TrackIR will still work on a 64-bit system, even when running something like DCS in 64-bit mode, but you will simply be using the 32-bit software for TrackIR. As long as TrackIR will work with MSFS and DCS A-10C on my 64-bit system, I'll be ordering it ASAP.
