  1. You need to unbind the / and * zoom keys from TrackIR so you can use them normally again. The forward and backward position of you head is unrelated to the function of the / and * zoom keys. The Z axis with respect to TrackIR is for your head's position in the cockpit, not the ability to zoom your vision forward. The zoom keys on the keyboard are made to mimic the human eyes' limits to see far away objects. If you hop in FC3, you'll notice on the lesser modeld airframes that leaning in and leaning out mimics the zoom keys, but in a full 6dof cockpit, you do not get this effect and instead must use the zoom keys to adjust your zoomed in/out level. Once you adjust that level, you can lean in and out as you like to look at the cockpit stuff or out the window. Check out people flying the hog on YouTube and you'll see that while they lean in and out to look at the instruments, they also clearly use the zoom keys to adjust zoom levels
  2. If you ask for ground power first while you're on the ramp and flip up your CDU/EGI switches next, your time for alignment will be significantly less (don't forget to disconnect ground power before rolling). When not using ground power, one thing I do while the APU is spinning up is switch on the CDU/EGI switches and APU Gen switch so that when power comes on, the BIT starts and alignment can begin. This is not suggested in any checklist so I assume it may not be proper form. Either way, once that's running, I continue on with the rest of my checklist which includes setting up anything I want in the TAD, prepping my inventory in the DSMS, and customizing IFCC. By the time I'm done, I'm nearly aligned.
  3. Man that is some soupy stuff. Great video James, clear and good information. In the spirit of sharing, here's one from a group training mission.
  4. Hey All Thanks to ralfidude and linebacker. Here is a video from the event :
  5. Sign me up! I'm good from 9AM - about 7PM EST. I could go later possibly. Awesome getting something started so soon!
  6. Maximus_Lazarus, thank you so much for the generous information. I'll try that out tonight and see how it goes. I'm pretty excited.
  7. Hey guys. Here is a mash up of some clips from the flight. I don't have a full FRAPS license so I couldn't record the whole thing, so what I ended up capturing isn't the best stuff but for those who were there or those who were interested, this might be fun to watch all the same; certainly some funny bits in here. By the way, I've been having trouble getting dxtory to not have massive framerate issues. I think it must be a config issue but perhaps also a resource or target drive issue. If you have any tips I'd appreciate it as I think I'd rather invest in dxtory over fraps. I've included my specs below - I mean - I feel like its beefy enough to do this but maybe until DCS is GPU accelerated, I'm being held back. Certainly it could be my destination drive too. Even if I can get decent 720p I'd be happy. 3.06 i7 950, 18GB RAM, GTX 570, Sabertooth x58 Mobo, 2x1TB WD Black RAID1 (boot), 1x1TB WD Green
  8. I will attend. A10 please, unless everyone is going to be in Eagles.
  9. From iWarthog app: No wheels landing : 1. Push in the AUX LG EXT handle. 2. Jettison all stores and flares. 3. Burn off excess fuel. 4. Pull the EMER BRAKE. 5. Set speed brakes to 40%. 6. Lower flaps to 20-degrees. 7. Fly shallow approach at 2-degrees at normal airspeed. 8. Touchdown at a minimum sink rate on center of runway. 9. After touchdown, open speed brakes to full. 10. Reduce throttle to IDLE. 11. Move control stick to full aft. 12. Once you have come to a stop set the throttles to OFF.
  10. I can totally relate to your achievement high. Great read!
  11. Just wanted to say thank you for making this. The layout is very much the way my mind works and how I take notes.
  12. I found the time to get up in the air doing missions confortably was considerably less in BS over A10. It sounds like a lot of people had initial trouble getting used to the feel of flying the BS but personally after I got trimming down to a natural ballet in flight, it was all good. Community answers for BS issues seem more direct and successful than what I've experienced so far with A10. A10 has a huge amount of intricacies to learn. With the more limited loadouts for BS there are fewer weapon systems to learn. Communications with wingmen and datalink is also easier. I guess I'm saying that to me, BS is easier - did you get that point yet? haha However, A10 seems to be more rewarding as I learn new systems and how they play with other systems. The more I learn, the more fun over BS I have. A10 is also really beautiful graphics wise. I built my system for A10 too : i7 950 GTX 570 Asus Sabertooth Mobo 6GB G.Skill PI
  13. Hey all I'm in NYC and love this game and am getting better every day. However, like you I'm sure you're still trying to work out some concepts and general inflight practices / procedures. I can't host it myself, but I propose we create a meet up group and just play the game and help each other out; maybe have a couple scrimmage matches. -adese
