  1. ok folks, I was a big nubcake and because I wasn't paying attention, I made JSGME use the wrong directory (I:\program files\eagle dynamics\dcs world\mods). Any Idea how to change it?
  2. Not that I know of, unless helios can do it
  3. Awesome advice guys, thanks =) I am trying to get kitchcomm to let me bump up the budget a bit (She wanted me to spend <$300, I got her bumped to $350, but I just got word of this deal, http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-Details.asp?EdpNo=8556626&sku=KNY-101804153 , so need a few more bucks....not gonna be a fun sell....lol) And I am going to try the OC route. Hopefully I don't fry anything, I have very limited OC'ing exp so will be visiting some OC specific sites =). I will let you know the results hopefuly in the next 2 weeks or so!
  4. what kind of FPS are you gettin Paco? Just for grins, I used the auto-OC settings in my bios (mobo is ASRock z68 extreme4 gen3) just used the 4.0 GHZ settings, didn't go higher than 69 degrees fahrenheit on stock cooler. Looks like I need to pick up a noctua or something to REALLY have some fun...lol. Completely off topic, but I used to have a blue and gold macaw named paco. Best pet I ever had =) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue-and-yellow_Macaw
  5. Thanks for the input guys, next question is this. Which card? I play a lot of different games (BF3, SWTOR, various shooters, etc) but DCS seems to be the beast because of the amount of textures that load(plus the possibility of 3 monitors). Any specific recommendations on a card? I am looking in the $300 to $350 (USD) price range. So far I have been debating between Nvidia 770 because of the slightly higher clock speeds and more cuda cores and the Nvidia 760 because I can get one with 4GB of VRAM. I just don't know which would perform better for DCS. Thanks again folks =)
  6. Hey all, KitchComm (Kitchencommand ;) ) authorized the requisition of new computer components. I definitely am planning on new GPU, but I am not sure about CPU and mobo. I am currently running an i5-2500K at stock speeds (socket 1155, rest of specs in sig), but I don't know if the cost of the mobo/cpu would be justified given the performance increase. I am currently getting about 20-30 FPS in Huey. Can some of you share your specs that are getting 60fps average, with no lower than 30? I am hoping to upgrade to 3 monitors at 1920x1080 soon, but that is not in the immediate plan, but it will happen before I upgrade my PC after this upgrade. Any thoughts and advice are greatly appreciated =)
  7. Dammit...sometimes I make stuff way too complicated. I got it working though! A few things I learned. 1. The IP goes between the quotation marks 2. When pasting the dofile section, don't worry about putting the spaces or dashes in front just because it makes it look like the rest of the document. Go to the last command in the document, press enter, paste. 3. Quit being a sissy, just back up the original files and then start tinkering. The worst thing that can happen is you have to go to rule 4 ;) and last but not least, 4. Don't be afraid to load the defaults and start it over. Thanks for the help guys =) Hopefully soon I will see you in the skies :D
  8. Thnks for the response =) so like this? This is copy and paste from line 1044 to end of document -- you can export render targets via shared memory interface -- using next functions -- LoSetSharedTexture(name) -- register texture with name "name" to export -- LoRemoveSharedTexture(name) -- copy texture with name "name" to named shared memory area "name" -- LoUpdateSharedTexture(name) -- unregister texture -- texture exported like Windows BMP file -- -------------------------------- -- |BITMAPFILEHEADER | -- |BITMAPINFOHEADER | -- |bits | -- -------------------------------- -- sample textures : "mfd0" - full SHKVAL screen -- "mfd1" - ABRIS map screen -- "mfd2" - not used -- "mfd3" - not used -- "mirrors" - mirrors --dofile( "C:\\Users\\Sean\\Saved Games\\DCS\\Scripts\\telemetryUH1H.lua ") and to change IP to tablet IP, where do I insert? In the quotation marks or after 6000? y_init = socket.protect(function() -- export telemetry to instrumeny panel on android host2, port2 = "10.0.0.3", 6000 -- replace IP with android device ip udp = socket.try(socket.udp()) Thanks again for the help, and sorry about my lack of knowledge for lua stuff =)
  9. Hey folks, wondering if anyone is using this app? https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...man.panel.uh1h It shows the UH1 instruments on your android device. YAY! but I am not sure how to install, as I installed the sim to my E: drive. Here are the instructions for installation. I was hoping someone that is familiar with the file structure of the sim, mods, and such could clear up a couple of questions for me. Description Basic instrument panel for UH-1H that connected via export.lua to DCS World. Initial beta Please use following telemetryUH1H.lua file for export from DCS: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B7tS...it?usp=sharing Instructions: 1. Create directory C:\Users\[username]\Saved Games\DCS\Scripts\. [username] is your windows user name. For me, should this be "E:\Users\[username]\Saved Games\DCS\Scripts\"? 2. Copy export.lua from C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Scripts to C:\Users\[username]\Saved Games\DCS\Scripts\ Is this just a copy and paste of the .lua as a file? Or do I need to copy the text into the Scripts folder? 3. Copy the above telemetryUH1H.lua file into C:\Users\[username]\Saved Games\DCS\Scripts\ directory. I believe answer to 1 will answer this one 4. Add the folowing line at the end in export.lua to: dofile( "C:\\Users\\[username]\\Saved Games\\DCS\\Scripts\\telemetryUH1H.lua "). Please note using double slashes.Only use use one telemetry file that is for aircraft you are going to fly. Either telemetry.lua for P-51D or telemetryUH1H.lua, not both is this everything from after the colon or just what is in the quotation marks? and just cut and paste the appropriate section at the very end of export.lua? 5. Change [username] to your user name 6. Edit telemetryUH1H.lua and change IP to Android table IP. You can check it in the android setting view for WiFi connection. Please try to ping your device from the command line 7. Start the application on the device I emailed the author, but am impatient to play with this so was hoping someone here could help.....lol. Any help is greatly appreciated, looking at the gauges on my tablet will be a heck of a lot easier than looking for them when as little tiny gauges on my screen. In case this is not the right location for my question, I made this same post in the UH1-H section. If that is a bad thing, just delete the one you think will get the least exposure please.
  10. As far as I know, the saitek radio stack only works with FSX =(
  11. dude! your gun goes bangybangy! Mine goes BUURRRPPPP!!!!!
  12. What kind of FPS are you getting with your rig? I am running an e8400@3.84 GHz, 4 gb Corsair dominator pc8500, and a 285GTX on Win7 64 bit but seem to drop to 20 FPS frequently. I have shadows on low, blur on, civ traff off, visibility on high, most everything else on medium and 2x MSAA with HGR on. 20 FPS seems pretty low for the system :(
  13. LOL>.....That is how I am snuck A10 on my system. I told the wife I am beta testing and that I entered a contest to "win" the full game =) If I get caught I am DED....yep DED
  14. lol...I am not even to the landing part yet. It may not have been pretty, but you know what they say about landings ;)
  15. check the names of the setup files. mine were named setup -1.bin from the http and ftp site (unless I was a moron and changed the names on them, don't think I did though), it should be "a10 beta-1.bin" same for -2 and -3.
  16. If those types of limitations were what we wanted then we could go back to longbow....lol
  17. When I was in the Army I was a stinger missile gunner http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FIM-92_Stinger and we were always told that a helo was more difficult to obtain lock due to heat dissipation from the rotor wash. Not sure if that helps or if it is modelled in game but that is the real life info about IR lock on helos. At least for the stinger missile anyway :)
  18. wow......beautiful work =) I cant even stay in the lines in a coloring book, much less do what you guys do with these models :P
  19. When I was in the Army I used the "Stinger Missile system simulator". It was basically a 180 deg. dome with various aircraft projected to it while holding the 50 pound tube on your shoulder. It was my first real sim :P . The simulator test scores and our other tests did however enable me to fire 2 live missiles at drones :pilotfly:.(whatever the wwII bomber game on commodore64 was doesn't count as a sim....lol)
  20. nope...definitely NOT one of these ;) http://www.zap16.com/zapnew/2008/11/23/mil-mi-28-havok/
  21. Hey guys, I am catching alll kinds of hell trying to get over the mountains in the first campaign (3rd mission I think). I take the hard left by the village in the mountains just like it shows in the flight plan but I can't seem to make it over the mountains, either I crash into the mountain near the top or lose all forward momentum in an attempt to gain altitude. At which time I am stuck with :joystick: instead of :pilotfly:In the briefing screen part of the instructions are to review mountainous terrain operations or something like that but I can't seem to find info anywhere in the manual. Am I just being a dunderhead or is there a special trick to it? Thanks in advance :D
  22. @lucid....talkin about readable text on the desktop. I didn't go into game as I thought it would look just as bad. @washer....1080p, I have heard about cleartype but don't know how to turn it on. can you tell me how to do that? Thanks =)
  23. I'm afraid that you will have to be more specific, there are a lot of us crashing copters out there :joystick::music_whistling:
  24. Not to hijack the thread but how do you guys get readable text on your screens? I have a 30in hd set that I have tried out a couple of times but I can't read a bit of the text (at least on the desktop). Especially at the edges of the screen. I have an nvidia 285gtx card and was connecting via HDMI at 1920x1080
  25. I have same setup and it is working fine, except for getting wheel brakes to work. Make sure that under the controls section--->All Axis Commands----> Flight Control rudder is set to Joy Z.
