Abris damaged - how to navigate back to airport?
Zakk replied to goldfinger35's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Find a river, and then follow it down stream to the ocean; then follow the coast line to the nearest airport. You will always find civilization living near the water. -
Okay, twist my arm; I give the sim 100 as it is the best flight sim on the market to date. How could I rate it any LOWER? If I had the ability to create anything close to this, THEN maybe I might be in a position to rate this sim lower than 100, but I can't. I don't MAKE PC games; I don't make FLIGHT SIMS; I PLAY THEM. So WHO am I to rate it any less. Show me a flight simulator that even comes close to BS. Okay, FSX is the closest sim that comes to mind. Compared to FSX, I give BS 100, and give FSX an 89 or 80 like the rest of you gave BS. IF BS IS NOT 100, THEN SHOW ME A SIM THAT IS BETTER. You can't, but the rest of you yahoo's think you are some kind of PRO flight sim evaluators. What is up with that? Give BS what it deserves RIGHT NOW which is !00 and NOTHING less. To me it's a stupid TOPIC to begin with, and that is why I didn't want to RATE it in the first place BECAUSE I thought that it was OBVIOUS to us all that this is/was the BEST we'd seen TO DATE. Let those dummy magazine reviewers rate BS--they are already HIGH on their HORSE, and think they are some kind of expert anyway--let them pick it apart with a fine tooth comb as they have nothing better to do anyway. PROS: Everything CONS: Nothing--great job. I don't want to rate black shark. I don't want to criticize anything about this game. I just want to enjoy it as the BEST SIM on the market right NOW. Peace out!

I donated my CH Pro Pedals and Flight Yoke to the Goodwill about 2 years ago now and have never looked back--less hardware the better, since you are not physically flying the real chopper.

Yeah, and I can't wait for DICE (Sweden) to pump out BF1943--It's going to be great! It will help calm my nerves while we all wait for the Warthog :megalol:

It was never confirmed that they would ever produce the Apache, and if they were to, it may be years from now.

Did you check the "Problems & Bugs" section within this forum? -
Vista64 "BS not Working" after ESC at mission end
Zakk replied to NismoRR's topic in Bugs and Problems
You could always delete this post and then start a new one under "Problems and Bugs" for more HELP. I use Vista64 and had funky issues that could NOT be ironed out, and had to eventually FORMAT a new partition and REINSTALL V64--All is GOOD now! -
Very NICE! Hey, this isn't the video of that guy stealing the plane from Canada the other day and flying it into the US of A is it? Maybe not, huh, as I didn't see the F-16's trailing him :( You used orchestra movie theme music in your vid(?); and not some loud head banging song like I normally see with dumtube. Well in this case it works great--and I didn't get a PoPuP within the vid about the song which was nice too. I have used Movie Orchestra Music in the past as well with home made vids, and they help sometimes in the creation process of what and where to add scenes. So I guess I was referring mainly to Lyrical Songs that don't fit right within a video. Again, great work--it must have taken you a few hours to put that together, ehhh?
-
Please DO NOT add music (sorry Ken). If I wanted to listen to music than I'd fire up an MP3 over the vid. DumbTube lets users add music to their vids within their site and is also a tool to advertise and sell these songs. Keep it simple; sometimes less is better! :music_whistling:

I played the HAWK demo and it reminds me of the crap they are producing over here so I automatically assumed that it was an American development--I bet it sells the MOST copies over here as well. 10 years ago M$ Flight Sim got me so interested in flying that I went down to my local airport and started taking lessons. I don't think I ever would have taken up this endeavor had it not been for all the pc flying. And you know what, I found it easier to fly a real plane than the simulator. And this brings me to my last point--it is possible that Guitar Hero may instill some to pick up the real thing. I've only been trying to play for 2 1/2 years so yes, EVERYONE is better than me. From what I understand, the real pro's are consumed everyday with the axe and have to be for them to be at the top of their game. Maybe I do watch too much TV--I skip all the commercials with the 30sec skip button on my DISH remote so I don't become infected with all the crap they are pitching. I watch UFC, Hells Kitchen, lots of Discovery, History channel and OPB; I take in a little FOX and local news but thats about it.

This is the "Combat Flight Simulator" I played extensively in 1992 on my PC. I think I ran it on a 16bit Trident TVGA 9000 at a res of 1024 x 768 on a 14" CRT! Check out some of the action here: And here is an earlier arcade console version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nuKpK8lgBH4

This is the exact reason IMO, along with American business greed equals instant gratification for all the dummies that own and play consoles; I had the Atari 2600 console as a kid and it was the most advanced gaming in it's day--I never ever expected we would GO BACK to consoles after the PC. It's the same reason why that dumb Guitar Hero is such a hit; no American wants to take the time to learn the real thing. Add the stupid TV shows like American Idol, and So you think you can dance crap and we are all doomed over here. The Japanese hate the Apple I-Phone and I don't blame them--I would never own one either--but try telling that to my kid. For years American car companies have been producing JUNK and it has finally caught up with them. I say good for Russia and any other country that wants to take the time to produce a highly detailed polished sim/game. That HAWK game is a joke and I might as well play Pac-Man if that's all were going to get from American developers.

It's a nice day neighbor Ken, what are you still doing inside de house?

FUTURE/CURRENT DCS ENGINE NETWORK SESSION
Zakk replied to hannibal's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Can you please post a picture of your setup? It sounds pretty kewl! -
Ohhh no! I forgot to add the Russian version to the price tag. Russian Download 50.00 English Download 50.00 English DVD 40.00 Color Manual 80.00 Total 220.00 Holy smokes! Some people are going to spend close to $220.00 after it's all said and done. I personally think that a hardware upgrade is more important then spending all your dough on software. But some peeps are still running only 2gb of ram when it's dirt cheap, and blowing their wad on DCS--don't get me wrong--I applaud all of you that are doing this; it's not smart, and this is the reason why American GM is in the crapper, but it keeps the devs smiling and it helps pay for that extra drink for them (on you). So yes, by all means, spend, spend, spend!

In the mid to late 90's and almost into 2000. They seemed to all be priced like sound cards, and then one year the price tag jumped to 200, and then the very next they were 400. I don't see how inflation made video cards jump up 400% in 2 years alone--it's a joke, and the joke is on US. Anyway, they have been laughing all the way to the bank since.
-
Yeah, I used some of that extra cash saved to buy that stupid $300.00 GTX285. Remember when all the latest cards use be under $100.00? Don't get me wrong, I am quite content with the new card, but it seems Nvidia got my extra cash v.s. DCS. I now get 50fps compared to sub 30,s with my old 8800GTS. I went in the config file and set the FPS to max 30 now so BS doesn't have to do any extra graphics processing; it pretty much stays locked to 30FPS and now I don't need to be concerned with it. Good luck on your new rig; beware that ASUS thinks that their mobos are worth 2x now from a couple years ago. It seems that they don't want to sell them for under $200.00--I was able to get a great Gigabyte board for just a tad over 100 bones!

That's awesome! DCS needs more fans like you to get the word out. I personally don't know anybody other than myself who can fly this chopper, let alone do a manual start. So I don't bother mentioning it to other gamers unless they ask. Over the 20+ years that I have been PC gaming, I have seen a major decline in good PC games in the past several years. I have always been a big fan of the Battlefield series, and am looking forward to BF1943 this summer as we wait on the Wart Hog to come out. I was driving in the Nevada desert one morning many years ago on an empty stretch of highway when 2 A-10's dropped out of no where below the 1,500 foot cloud ceiling and lined up to make a simulated gun run on me. I just about sh*t my pants and will never forget it. I am a former Marine Ordnanceman on the F/A-18 and have been exposed to every military A/C but most of them were PARKED. I have seen first hand, LIVE, the destruction capabilities of the F-18, but nothing compares to the 30mm gun on the HOG! Thanks again for all your extra efforts--this sim has been an extra sigh of relief, and your enthusiasm helps ALL of us to continue to get great software from DCS.
-
I personally wouldn't pay any more than the cost of the digital download. But I would like to say I think it's great that others, like yourself Dusty, who are offering to GIVE so much more. It helps the devs and us to continue to get great software. Plus you aren't giving your extra cash to those greedy ministers of the church, right? Anyway, you pay a little more so I don't have to--thank you very much. Maybe next time, DCS will offer the DL version at the lower retail store price since so many of you buy both including $80.00 color manuals. :clap_2:
-
There are a TON of BS simmers out here who already have the down loaded version and are now wanting the DVD version; they are NOT buying it for the manual. They just want to "feel good" about having a hard copy and others have some misconception about activations. Others just buy into the hype and now want to have it as a collection item. Now the peeps who already have the PDF also want a printed color manual. I'll do the math for you: DL version 50.00 DVD version 40.00 Color Manual 80.00-read the other posts! 2x cost of B&W and some say they would pay 80 Total 170.00 Why spend an extra 120.00 when you already have the game and the manual? Why spend any amount of extra CASH? Isn't this whole US of A economy designed to rip you off? Show me the deals! There are NONE pal, it's all a big scam and we are paying through the nose for EVERYTHING. So the people who have money to burn; go ahead and burn it--it's the American Way! I will be downloading Battle Field 1943 when it's offered this summer; btw: it won't EVER be available for purchase at a retail store. No more printed manuals, no more boxes, and no more 3rd party retailers like Worst Buy getting a cut of the action :megalol: Who needs nosy sales peeps bothering us anyway when we have GOOGLE to answer ALL our questions? This is the future of gaming and obtaining games. So if you want to have that "feel good" thing, then you will have to BURN it to DVD.
-
"They are saying the release here in the US is April 7, so I can't wait until it comes out (on DVD, not download)." Why don't you just download it and have it now
-
What are you going to do when the A-10 is released? Buy another $80.00 manual? I'd rather use the wood to build a picnic table then waste it on printing manuals. I am really surprised in this whole thought process; you already have the manual, and you already have the game! Now the sheeples want to buy the game again (retail version), and spend double for a manual they already have(?) That is $120.00 extra on top of the $50.00 they already paid for a total of $170.00! Does your MOM know how much money you are wasting? She would not be happy

POLL: Would you rather see A-10 or AH-64a as next module?
Zakk replied to Sharkster64's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
When DCS officially asks for my input then I will give it. Until then, I think this SIM stands up on its own. They already have the "right direction", and they don't need a bunch of yahoos telling them where they need to go next. This product does SELL: DCS never started a POLL asking you whether or not you wanted a Ka-50, did they? Don't worry about what you think they need to know for them to continue their SUCCESS--they are doing just fine; we don't need to clutter up their table with unnecessary POLLS and WISH lists. Let the artist paint on his canvass in peace and quiet; let companies like Wal-mart worry about sales stats and having the RIGHT product on the shelf :blow: -
It most likely will so the printer can PRINT it :pilotfly:
