I wonder if ED plan on some more optimization in the future? I’m all for releasing content, but some of the persistent issues - performance/optimization related is causing me to re-invest into my PC rather than more products for DCS. My PC isn’t low on the spectrum in terms of performance ether. With a 4770k, Raid 0 SSD dedicated solely for DCS, GTX 1070 a $400 card; flight simming solely for DCS is becoming more expensive as I’ve run into no other performance issues related on any other sims I choose to employ..at-least since some 780 issue with IL2 BOX, that I managed to work my way around till I got the 1070. But I’m still plagued with strange things that really tank my experience – granted my expectations are set high. It's still not THAT high, I don't want 4k, I'm happy with 1080p and high settings. I still don’t believe the specs I’ve set to be too demanding to encounter the issues I’ve run into..like A2A combat is a crab shoot sometimes the missile impact on a target is enough to drop my system into a lock for 1-2 seconds ruining a good flow, adding clouds to any mission can tank up to %30 of performance, looking at the sun, carrier based mission is a real sore point as well, DCS fills up the entire 8GB VRAM and the memory sometimes doesn't dump properly changing maps. The list could go on..I'm able to get 60 FPS stable but certain functions really strips it down - it's just never consistent when I feel it has alot of potential to be a much more stable platform and instead of saving for a 1080ti, I could pour into investing on more modules. I don’t mean to rant on this GD! I’m happy with these upcoming changes! Just a little bitter to see more things added and hope ED tread carefully in fear of further destabilizing an already bad situation. Soon I'll be required to have a Titan V to attain the stability I need at 1080p with the added developments..

Anyone have any tips for A2A? Every time I hit something with a missile I get a pause. I've tried all sorts of nvida settings. Graphics adjustments. It's on a Raid 0 SSD, and I'm stumped..My next stop is an M2 sata drive or switching to DX12. Are their any other recommendations I'm not finding on the forums?

Looking for some good shots of this bird in game! 1920x1080+ Hook us up!

Will DCS take advantage of the faster read/write rates? I have DCS installed on 1 SSD right now. Wondering if I should go raid 0 and could expect smoother map performance. Just hoping it's worth the hassle to set-up. Note: OS on a separate storage device

Much better video card = same frame rate...

You should upgrade to a 3770k CPU, it's the same socket (1155) Also 1920x1080 try that res and check performance. -
Empty Standby list for ram optimization

Will try this when I get home. Thanks! -
See my response to https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=218766 I managed to uncover something else too..

Stutter introduced with OB Update 9?
TexasWarbird replied to Nealius's topic in Game Performance Bugs
Hey Dusty, you have a GTX 1050ti 3GB, I have a GTX 780 3GB - I can't touch max on the texture quality. You're probably maxing out your Virtual Memory as well. That 1050ti is at 3GBs. I have to wait till I make it home to check my settings. -

Just FYI - I've found a few things in my troubleshooting....Probably the solution to my problem.. But if this game crashes and does not close properly. It won't clear your memory. Although task manager will show your memory is clear. It will still be reserved for that session. So instead if you open a new session. It will "Stack" The memory on the new session and it will double your RAM usage for DCS even if not used...I've ran into this issue 5 Years ago with "Total War Shogun 2" For instance: If the Game crashes at 7GB RAM usage, when you go to open a new session/mission. It will have 14GB Allocated. So if you have 16GB RAM. Your OS needs 2GB, 14GB + 2 = 16. You're at the ceiling - wanna Alt+Tab bud?...Nah System Crash if you're maxed -->[Reboot]. Also second note, [i haven't tested fully so take with a grain of salt] - But I'm starting to believe if you switch from Single Player to Multiplayer at a different location of the map you were using...It will leave that memory reserved. So your multiplayer mission will also have your ram doubled..I need more testing with this theory The best advice I can offer from this issue, is if your experiencing unusually high ram usage - Be sure to reboot. It'll channel the power from your ram and complete a proper reset. -

Also @Dusty, I noticed your Page file is only 26GB. I've read somewhere online that that doubling your page file to the size of your ram can improve performance[16x2=32]...So naturally I went over kill to 62GB Page File :music_whistling: -

I noticed some 16GBs ram here, I caught DCS hitting the ceiling yesterday at 15+GB ram usage. Mainly on Persian G map. Not sure if this issue could be some how be related to memory. Caused me to eventually BSOD at memory ceiling and display all the issues reported here. Multiplayer - at startup on RW (A10C) I couldn't pan over to an AV8B...It'd lock up for 10+ seconds. -
Did you check your ram usage? Not sure if 8GB is enough anymore. I had this similar issue a few weeks ago. Except I was at 12GB ram. Bumped myself up to 16GB - Runs a bit better, but only for a few days..lol Now It's maxing at 16GB - fishing around work for more ram now..

I'm not sure what the normal usage is for this map; But it's defiantly off the charts in terms of ram usage. I'm not really sure what's causing it. I've tried to flip a few settings in the options page, with no joy. I have the terrain setting to Low, tried reducing the visibility range to high and preload radius to below 60k. I ran into this issue previously before with Caucasus map, but I was running 12 GB and bumped myself up to 16 GB RAM now DCS hit's the ceiling using 14GB+ on DCS in task manager. What gives with the insane ram usage? I've ran into 1 BSOD so far, but I'm mainly crashing during mission. Multiplayer is usually fine, as long as I don't come to close to an AV8B...it'll just..lock up for 15+ seconds..:joystick: It defiantly seemed more stable a few days ago, but progressively gotten worse. [Purchased this map 2 Days ago] I expected to be fine with my system specs coming from Xplane 11 (Janked up with OrthoXP100GB+ of terrain) and IL2 BOX. Both of these titles I've ran near max with no issues. What's the recommended configuration for this map for my set-up? Any good tips to look out for to keep this issue in check?
