  1. Does rudder trim work through a key binding? It works fine when clicking with the mouse on the rudder trim switch in the left console, but it doesn't seem to work when I use a key binding. There's no switch animation and no change shown in the axis view window.

  3. Do you mean that pushing the DESG button in the EHSD screen will designate your TPOD/DMT point and not the current waypoint?
  4. I read the bug thread linked here, but I'm still not sure I fully understand what's going on. Does it mean you can only designate a target from the EHSD Designate button? Does it just designate the current waypoint as the target? What if I want to use the targeting pod? Can't I just push the HOTAS designate button to get the AUTO CCRP bomb fall line? Do I always have to designate a waypoint first? and then can I switch to TPOD designation method?
  5. Where can I find such a detailed documentation? For example, I couldn't find anywhere in the Razbam pocket guide, Chuck's guide or even search on Google, what all these "laser modes" are. Besides LASER, MARKER. TRNL, what are M+D, Eyes, etc...? What are all the MFD buttons functions for the TPOD? (Note that there are YouTube videos explaining these details... but I'd rather have some real manual if possible.)
  6. I know that there's already a many pages thread existing with all the missing control bindings of F14, but: - how can I know if these requests have been taken into account by Heatblur? There's no sign of acknowledgment of these missing bindings. - are there workarounds, without using Target? I'm ready to add some lines of codes in Lua files if needed, until Heatblur make these missing bindings part of a next version. Most of these missing bindings are on the RIO side and there are 2 categories: - no binding at all found in the control settings. For example, settings course and heading (that's on the PILOT side) - rotary buttons with all possible stops, but no CW and CCW rotation setting. There are several of them related to the TID
  7. Increase or decreasing course with CRS knob works fine when using the mouse. When CW and CCW rotation of CRS knob are assigned to a button, you only get increase or decrease by 1 degree for each press, no matter how long your press. This is a different behaviour from all other DCS planes, where you get continuous increase or decrease when you keep the bound button pressed.

  10. Then, what the DIRECT and COO modes for. I thought only MAN mode required a data link pod and terminal guidance.
  11. Today, I'm trying to use the CM802AKG in DIRECT mode. I designated a target with the targeting pod and pushed the release button when the missile was ready to be released. The missile just does loopings and then crashes. Is there anything specific to do that I missed. FYI, I'm following Chuck's guides step by step... Add: - same for COO mode, but this time it's doing circles in horizontal plane instead of looping - for Man In the Loop, it works fine
  12. Now, when I release "manually" when release cue lines up with FPM, the bomb impact on the ground is completely off. I activate laser with "MAN". What am I missing now? Is releasing GBU12 on JF17 so much different from the US jets?

  14. OK, but that's weird: why does it work differently for "dumb" bombs in mode Auto? With Mk82L in Auto, I can start pushing when the release cue appears and the bomb is released automatically when the release cue lines up with the FPM.
  15. I'm training on releasing GBU-12 bombs. When the CCRP release cue appears, I start pushing on S3 Weapon Release button, but unlike for "dumb" bombs in CCRP/Auto mode, the GBU-12 bombs are released immediately and not when the release cue is lined up with the flight path marker. Is it a bug? (haven't seen that in the bug sub-forum) or am I doing something wrong here?

On my configuration, with exact same graphical settings, I get much better performance on Syria overall (between 20 to 40 additional fps) and this is even when flying low-level over large cities like Damascus or Beirut, which have no equivalent in the Channel map. Channel is basically unflyable for me, besides over the Channel water itself and sometimes over empty fields.

  18. The Syria map is absolutely fantastic and still performs well on lower-end PCs (see my post here https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=283761). Obviously, they must be using some special and new techniques to achieve this level of detail and performance at the same time. Cities are filled with hundreds of buildings, all the trees are visible in your visible range whatever the "tree visibility" setting and they look realistic (not 2D shaped), the shorelines are beautiful too even in "low quality water" setting. And all that looks even nicer when you have a high-end graphics card (see all the published videos)! I really wish ED could rework their existing maps, especially Caucasus, with these new techniques.

  20. After watching all the videos of DCS Syria map, I knew I wanted to buy from day one. I bought it and I flew around several locations in the map: Haifa, Beirut, Raqqa, Palmyra and a few other towns I don't remember. I don't have a powerful hardware configuration, as you can read in my signature, but I found (low enough) settings to get an average of 60 fps on Caucasus: medium visibility, high quality textures, 4x anisotropic filtering, low water quality, clutter/grass and tree visibility to minimum, no shadows, no anti-aliasing). With such settings, Caucasus doesn't look bad but I have the ugly popping tree effect. Now to Syria map. I was afraid to get poor fps, like in the Channel map. That was my first good surprise: 60 fps over countryside / desert, and "only" a drop to 40 fps over very dense cities like Beirut or Haifa, which I consider excellent on my configuration. These cities have such a level of detail that it's unbelievable that I still have a decent frame rate. The layout and main buildings are also accurately represented. In the country side, my other good surprise was the trees. I can see "all" the trees all over my medium visibility range and they all look really good, much better than the Caucasus trees and without any mushroom popping effect, all that with my tree visibility setting at minimum! At long range, you can barely notice new trees coming in because it's done so smoothly. Despite my low water quality settings, the transitions between water and land on the coasts look great too. Overall, the map has a good variety of landscapes and countries, some of the best towns I've seen in any other DCS map, and it's a region that can be rich in missions and campaigns. This weekend, I definitely want to fly over the map at low speed and even lower altitude with an helicopter just to enjoy the scenery. So far, for me, this is one of the best maps available for DCS so far. I just can't imagine how great it would look like on a high-end PC and graphical card!
  21. 1. OK, maybe I should have my question more precise. What is the contribution of clutter/grass to the maps details. Obviously, you get nice grass on the ground, but what is the "clutter" exactly? Does it add more vehicles on the airports? more objects in front of the houses? 2. OK Thanks! 3. It may be irrelevant for you, but I'd still like to understand which level of accuracy is reached with the latest DCS maps and if it was possible to reach an even higher level of accuracy? I read that this "other sim" can render up to each individual house? I don't want to compare, I'm just trying to understand if in DCS we reached a level where missions could be as precise as bombing an individual house number in an actual street?

I have a few questions related to the level of detail and accuracy of the maps, especially detailed ones like PG or The Channel (or even better the coming Syria one). 1) Supposing you have enough visibility range and you tree visibility is 100%, for a given scenario, is the number of displayed objects (houses, bridges, roads, etc...) always the same or does it depend also on the clutter/grass parameter? (excluding chimney smoke and civilian traffic) 2) How close to reality are the maps? I'm very impressed by the Syria previews, and PG at least in the towns. The Channel towns, I'm still wondering because I know this region and there's a kind of unrealistic feel in the towns. This is of course my subjective feeling, and for sure, the level of detail is high in this map. 3) Has anybody tried to compare what for example Caucasus or the other DCS regions, like the new DCS Syria, look like in this other sim that will be released in August and which has great landscapes even in low settings? I know DCS is a combat and not a sightseeing simulator, but a good map contributes to immersion.
  23. In CCRP mode, if you use the center of the diamond the bomb will go long. You have to use the top of the diamond to get an accurate bombing. Please fix alignment of this diamond.

  25. same here, impossible to select "OBL" PCA5 button from an MFD or any keyboard key assigned to it in the control setup. Only clicking in the cockpit with the mouse works.
