Thanks for your links! #1 and #2 are Chuck's guides, which I already have. They're great for quick reference, but they're not as deep as an actual manual #3 is an actual manual. However, it says its distribution is not authorised "outside of US Government agencies and their contractors". So I'm not sure if it's safe to download it. Razbam managed to create good manuals for the MiG 19 and the Mirage 2000, which I both have. So why not for the AV8?

Are we ever going to get a full blown manual for the AV8, like the manual of the A10C? For now, it looks like to be a pocket manual and even so, it's not even complete.

I can no longer select MiG 21 profile. I get a "syntax error" issue. I rebuilt the script, but still same error- 2261 replies

The encoders I used are just plain KY-40 encoders I found on Amazon (like here). They're probably not as good as the ones from LeoBodnar, but so far they work fine. I didn't notice any reverse direction issue.

I created this button box to accommodate most if not all of the modern jets UFCs. If anybody is interested, I left the instructions on how to build it here: https://www.instructables.com/id/Universal-UFC-for-Plane-Simulators-for-Less-Than-1/

DCS World TARGET profile for TM Cougar and Warthog + MFDs

Maybe I did something wrong, but on the C101CC, there's no binding for: - unlock of the gun trigger - unlock of the release button I tried to import both the C101 and DX_C101 keyboard and virtual thrustmaster profiles but the weapons binding don't initialize properly- 2261 replies

Thanks for the detailed advice Quadg! I'm a bit afraid to remove the spring of my Warthog stick... but I have an extension, so it's not too hard to move around. Looking at your other pieces of advice, I'm able now to land on a runway, a carrier like the Stennis or the Tarawa, and even some (large) building roofs. However, the back helipad of a Ticonderoga class.... still impossible for me. How would leverage the ground effect for such case? wouldn't it be below the deck?
-
Thanks for all your answers! It looks like I should now practice (intensively) hovering. Should I rather practice hovering close to the ground (looks like the one I need for landing) or even at higher altitude? The latter seems "impossible" to me at this stage... In the manual I read that you had to move the cyclic 2 to 3 times a second continuously to keep the hover. Is that really the case? If yes, how can you find the right "rhythm"?
-
After watching several tutorial videos and practicing probably a good hundred times... I finally manage to land the Huey without breaking it. I was almost going to give up, until I realised I had to forget anything I learnt from landing a jet and until I realised that for me, no curve at all was much easier to handle. However, all is not great with my landings yet: 1) landing on runways or landing zones within a 20-30 meters radius is OK, but landing on building roofs or even large ship decks (like Tarawa) is still quite challenging (only 1 success out of 4) 2) Towards the end of the landing, I'm not really landing from a hover but with a very shallow descent and it usually ends with a few meters slide 3) If I'm slowing down too close to 0 kts, I'm unable to control the the Huey and it usually ends bad. I guess this is about being able to hover. When taking off, I'm not doing great at hovering but it's OK, nowhere near as bad. What are your suggestions to overcome these remaining issues?

Yes, both master arm and laser switches were on With the TGP, I slew the cross over my target and pushed TMS UP for point track. Should I also add something like a TMS UP LONG as on the A10C to make it the SPI before releasing the bombs? I didn't mention that the bombs I managed to release in CCRP were plain MK82s, where as the ones that I couldn't drop were GBU laser bombs? Could that be a reason?
-
I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong here. When not using the TGP and just slewing a steerpoint as the target, I can release bombs. When using the TGP and point tracking a target, bombs don't release when the release cue goes down through my velocity vector. Initially, I thought my velocity vector wasn't well aligned on the release line, but even when perfectly aligned nothing happens (and yes, I start pushing and keeping the release button pushed when the release countdown is at 10 seconds). Is there something more to do when targeting with the TGP that I missed?

JF-17 availability date in stable release of DCS

Thanks MobiSev! That worked for me. I couldn't imagine it was actually so easy. Thanks all for your answers and advice! I'll definitely use the open beta from now on. -

Thanks a lot Mongo! That's exactly what I'm looking for... but I now realise it doesn't work with DCS installed from Steam :( -
JF-17 availability date in stable release of DCS
lwalter replied to lwalter's topic in JF-17 Thunder
How large is the beta install? If for example I have 100 GB of stable, should I expect about 200 GB of stable + beta? Or would the beta reuse resources from the stable, like maps or aircrafts, and just add what’s new or updated. I’m asking because I have limited space on my disk. . -
I bought the JF-17 on first day... but I didn't see it appear in my DCS stable install. So I guess it's only available in beta for now :( Is there already a date for when it will be in stable release as well?
-
Thank you! That would be awesome. I can't wait for Friday now ;-)
-
I did a search on this forum but didn't find information about when the next stable will be released. It seems like ages since I preordered the F16, then read it was available... but only on beta. I'm now thinking of installing beta, but it's a large download, I would have to delete my stable (hard drive getting full) and if the stable comes soon, I would better just wait. Is it always like this with pre-ordered planes? It seemed I could access the F14 on stable as soon as it was released, but I'm not sure anymore now.

HELP: DCS freezes when ending Fortress Mozdok Mission 4
lwalter replied to lwalter's topic in Su-27 for DCS World
Thanks AeriaGloria! I'll check the logbook file and if it's too scary, I'll pick the next mission by hand. Is there some log file or other info I could send ED to fix, if not the campaign itself, at least the freeze? I remember another campaign that freezes like this (A10C or A10A), which was delivered with the plane itself (not custom DLC). -
After successfully finishing Fortress Mozdok Mission 4, I push the "End Mission" button and then DCS freezes on the "Loading" screen... and I have to kill DCS and restart it. What's even more frustrating is that this mission doesn't get registered as succeeded. So, I'm stuck into: flying again this mission, ending it... and freezing again. Besides this freeze bug in DCS or the mission itself, is there at least a way to move past mission 4? Is there a file I can tweak to register the succeeded mission 4?
