How thick is the aluminium? I had to partly cut these 10mm bars to bend these B17 throttle handles.

Hey guys had some spare time (LOL) to get these through my printer.Im slowly going through my Shapeway shop and producing them myself as the company is starting to get rather expensive.

Fitted these into my build schedule if anyone is after something to start with.They are 3D printed and painted and designed off the originals.:pilotfly:

Issue with designs and drawings is its the little errors that creep into it and catch out construction in real life.

Great work :) Looking good.I started designing a pit off the plans from CheckSix but found it a bit basic so started my own that was closer to original build.I prefer aluminium than wood as Im a sheetie by trade so Im more comfortable using it for construction.

Are you building a windscreen for it?

Find a decent 3d model,scale it up full size then slice and dice it at each bulkhead point.Think of a jigsaw puzzle in reverse.Good luck :)

Maybe R?C gearing with the stepper will be a lot more accurate.Design looks great.

Martin-Baker GRU-7A was used in the Tomcat.Pit design looks good so far.

Ammo counters off a 109 are the same.Found these online.

Not sure if the structures sub forum has kicked off yet but here's a nice bit of video in using wooden formers to create sheetmetal frames (in this case a Spitfire).

Just to throw a cat amongst the pigeons heard something about Martin Baker being selected to retrofit the Mk18 seat into legacy F15,s and F16,s along with the B2,B21 and F35.

+1 here as I specialize in structures more than electronics (white mans magic).

Outer is Gunship Grey,inner is FS36231 Dark Gull Grey as with all US aircraft since the mid 60's.

With the basic structure is it possible to update the Simpit to a later F18G?

Just gauging some interest in a basic "mechanics" pack of parts for the throttle that guys put together themselves.Might be an easier and cheaper option for some guys.

Compound curves are a pain.Bendable ply and a steamer might work.I work in aluminium so I use the English Wheel and Shrinkers/stretchers.
