nope door open or close doesnt matter, all should work on an airfield..kinda weird it doesnt..adding fuel and command trucks etc might help. maybe your forgetting stuff at start up, use left win-home and when u started only switch to ground com on the left panel and try. it should work on airfields... otherwise try adding the farp stuff, u can see what u need by just opening an existing mission and unhide units, u even can copy all the stuff at the farp and save it grouped so u dont have to go thru the pain of adding the support yourself

it took some effort for me to learn to, 3 weeks to figure it out, now i dont even think about t anymore and i can fly anyway i want, because it still requires skill it adds a lot to the gameplay experience, especially when u see others still learning to fly (fighting ap :P). makes me feel like an ace (me like that). the more realistic the better imo, wouldnt it be great to know that when u can fly the virtual shit u would be able to do the same in real life. i flew some ulv's and single props so the closer the sim comes to real life the better. also theres an arcade mode i recommend that, thats a game, realistic mode is a (learning) simulator

1st of all cpu is most likely to be the bottleneck. id reccommend the HD4870 X 2, or The HD4850 x 2, i have the standard HD4850 (one) and i get 27-32 fps now with mirrors off, normal water rest on highest (@1600x1050) 65+ fps when not in cockpit view.

i whine a lot, also on this forum :)~. Still this the best sim ever! If i compare it to early versions of falcon i think its relatively bugfree. I really like the added infantry and the general look and feel. great training videos, editor, programmable joystick, 6DOF, and almost anything else a simmer can wish for! awesome sim! cant wait for the other mods! i am totally hooked on this sim.

ye sure, so the 80% rule then obviously means the pilot can only move the flight control actuators through 80% of their total range of movement. my game must be bugged because i have no probs giving 100% input... u dont get my point, ofcourse the ap wont give max inputs because it would make the helo crash for sure! especially if u need to turn like 180degrees i think its like this comp is giving 20% input and u give 20 % input in opposite direction, i bet the helo will not fly straight but will go to towards the input of the pilot, because the pilot has 80% authority...at least thats how i thought it was, this might be wrong, nevertheless if u dont give input the ap has al the control and so will fly exactly to the wp indicated, not like 20% in that general direction, so basically the ap has 100% authority then, the ap decides a 100% where you will end up let me ask u this how much is 80% of nothing and how much is 20% of 100 %input by ap??? correct me if i am wrong but 80% of nothing is nothing, .0000001% of a very little bit is still more right? in short the ap gives 100% input but only has 20% authority so yes thats 20% max input if u give 20% input (80 percent of 20 is 16, --> ap will win)

just open profile editor, do nothing and save profile as (eg blankprofile) and u got a totally blank profile...not sure what u want to do with it because when u just open the profile editor u start with a blank profile ^^

hi brach, i deleted every joystick setting in dcs except the axis, the rest is mapped in sst, the clutch button cant be programmed, it does more the making leds flicker, when u press the clutch and press another key u get info on the mfd i think, there is a workaround to be able to map the clutch button but involves modding in the registry, its annoying its not mappable but i can do without it, buttons enough on the saitek.. theres a post on the forum on how to map the clutch (if u must...own risk though). i suspect the non working key combos are caused because u use bot dcs and sst to map, i think u should pick either one and prog all the button combos in there.progging only axis in dcs rest in saiteck gives no probs, i do recommend setting some deadzone (using saitek config screen) on the twist etc so the ap wont pick up unintended input on rudder.

no idea what ptt is but assign it to a normal key in teamsp. and program that key to a button using sst programming would be a workaround i guess

hi BTTW-DratsaB, first of all i havent found that fuel is ever a problem, also taking lesser fuel is not really necessery (its free anyway) because u dont need to go mach 2 or pull more g's or anything like that. that out of the way, when u want to fly clean first trim your helo to be stable at the speed and hight indicated, then simply use enroute mode ® and thats all, have a beer :P. if u insist on manual flying i think its better to go to a waypoint a bit early, opposed to planes a chopper can just wait and hover a few mins and then arrrive spot on time

the 20% authority rule only aplies when u the pilot gives input, if the pilot doesnt touch cyclic or collective the ap basically has 100% authority. (or u can say 20% of 100 = 20 authority vs 80% of 0 = 0 authority) one important point, if u want to use enroute mode make sure u have adf off. same goes for autohover, dont forget to disable alt-hold after using auto hover.

3 isnt hard at all go to the ati site, and do your thing (assuming u know how to get the latest drivers from that site) in the screen where u download the new drivers there should be a link to previous catalyst versions.... try clicking that link > for radeon hd4800 series use link below http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/previous/Pages/radeonaiw_vista32.aspx

hello, i had my fair share of problems with the saitek software to but i think i have a fix for u, first uninstall all saitek software present by going to remove programs in config screen. when done unplug the stick. restart system. next if u previously had sst installed go to hardware manager. uninstal everything that has saitek entries (saitek bus controller and human interface devices [only the saitek entries not the rest!] next go see if there's still a windows/temp/saitek directory, delete the saitek folder. restart again and do not plug in the stick yet. i think these where all the steps required but u might want to google on uninstalling saitek software. next download the latest drivers and THE CORRESPONDING SST SOFTWARE. GET CORRESPONDING VERSIONS FOR BOTH THE DRIVERS AND THE SST. next install the drivers, plug in stick when told by the installer and continue. when thats done restart and install sst software, now if your running vista chances are nothing seems to happen, you need to perform one more odd step... go to the windows temp directory and go to saitek folder, from there browse to this location: ../Windows/Temp/Saitek/Saitek_Cyborg_Command_Unit_SD6_32_Software/00000006/ so not the x52 entry.... run this entry: software_loc_9.exe now you should be done (maybe 1 restart is needed) good luck ! I use the sst software without any prob, giving me the benefit of using the pinky as a shift button, i have acces to 3 modes (in each mode i can program keys differently and use different shift states). and last but not least if i forgot what button 312903 exactly did i can just check what it says in my MFD. so..while the programming function in dcs is extremely user friendly and works pretty well, I still recommend using sst software if u own an x52..simply because otherwise u could have bought a more simple stick, mfd is useless without sst, not sure if its possible to program a shift button or use all modes in dcs config either. give reinstalling a try! (try finding latest sst software first and then search the corresponding drivers for it).

dont use ctrl+alt+del after u started tir. 1start tir , check if it works 2start multiplayer, do u see the lights on the tir cam turn blue? 3start a mission (dont set affinity yet, check tir, make sure u dont have f9 on) 4 when all is ok alt-tab and set affinity if u do not use the tool (make sure u have task -manager opened before u start dcs) ps: i was wondering for 15 mins once why tir didnt work, then i noticed i forgot to put the clip on my hat......

my isp is fine, no problems there. cant really see your point either, are you blaming my isp for the crashes of dcs?

i had this problem as well, fixed it same way you did. i had this several times and even had to reinstall vista, after replacing my hard-drive with a new one i didnt have anymore problems, the hard drive was starting to go bad after dcs crashed in multiplayer on a self created mission but my hard drive might already have been bad. I dont know if its caused by dcs, same thing happened to my dvd-player. the new dvd player is starting to have problems as well now but i cant say its caused by dcs crashing on self-made missions when hosting... its probably not caused by dcs but if u get boot problems and failing hard drives/dvd drives make sure to post it here! (i use ati driver not nvidia)

i hope its not too much off topic but.... in previous interviews eagle dynamics stated the apache would be the first mod after bs. from the forums i read that A10 is the first. what will be released first, the a10 or ah64a?? BTW I was wondering, wouldnt helo's be like sittings ducks when a10's start to show up?:huh:

yes both cores are checked (i use the affinty tool for it now btw) cpu should be fast enough (3,12 ghz,2 cores [amd]) my ram is kingston and has a vista score of 5 (dont understand why actually) i had my fair share of bad luck with this pc (replaced dvd drive memory hard drive earlier because of instability and boot problems) ati radeon hd 4850 my framerates are much better now btw, when using external views it goes up to ~50, cockpit view stays low, 27 at best. i noticed that whenever the horizon comes in view in the cocpit (which is almost always ofc) it affects fps very bad, i already set view distance to medium but i really hate doing that because it makes it so much harder to spot enemys. all that said, my fps have gotten a lot better already and dcs is at least playable...still feel i should be able to get more out of this pc..

What ships are in your mission? do u run in windowed mode? is the task manager already opened after alt tabbing or do u have to press 'ctrl + alt + del' first? if alt tabbing works while ships are in the mission and u have vista consider yourself lucky i guess :pilotfly:

hello, i have and amd dual core @ 3,12 ghz, 4 g ram, vista os (32b), and ati hd4850. i get framerates between 9-13 on maps with a lot of buildings/units. this is insanely low. how do i set up ati catalyst? i already made viewing distance in game to medium which helped a bit, lowering every other setting doesnt make any difference (which is weird)... if i put the game on 800*600 and al sets low i get an increase of maybe 2 fps...?????? wtf????? i was tweaking some in catalyst and it helped for me earlier (getting around 27 fps in cockpit view) but after i installed the new catalyst i couldnt use catalyst ai anymore so i returned to to older catalyst drivers... so here is a pic of my setttings that give me crap framerates....yes i disabled windows aero, set affinity, and set in xp compatibilty mode, is did all this silly things i have to do before even starting the game.. http://img172.imageshack.us/gal.php?g=17259756.jpg

i did notice the campaign works, however i am getting bad fps while my pc is better then most people who claim they get 30-40 fps...i cant get above 17 fps and teh last 2 catalyst drivers dont work with sp, because u HAVE to disable catalyst ai, when i do this fps drops to 9-13.... i have amd dual core 3,12 ghz 4 gig of ram ati radeon 4850 (512 mb) and my framerates are down the drain....weird since i can run a game like crysis on full sets with 27 fps....

if u start tir and would alt-tab out of the game, then ctrl-alt del to set affinity and go back in the game tir will stop working, (under vista) u didnt use ctrl-alt del after u started tir? make sure u have the latest version, check in game if tir shows under the controls...tir should work it does for me. try doing another game-update in the tir menu. and start it before you start the game..
