  1. i really wouldnt do that, your pinky should act as a shift button. ex. pressing button 2 = trimming while holding the pinkie and pressing button 2 = hover. holding pinky plus the trim button (square black button on the stick next to pov2) will put u in auto-hove-hold on or off... i strongly recommend not using the pinky to act as a single button. because then u would only be able to use half the buttons possible, think of pinky as a "shift" key i added this link to my profile so u can load it and see if u like it (press a button and look on the mfd to see what it does) i am using profiler 6.0.10.7. . http://www.megaupload.com/?d=8MOQS3GZ u can also load it in the profiler to see how its programmed. plz leave my name in the profile when sharing (hommage to my hard work ;P)
  2. zoom and throttle i set in game (zoom i did with slider but its giving inputs even if i dont touch it, so i use T-IR for zooming now, throttle set in game as well..) some buttons cant be programmed in the profiler but u can program those in DCS. for the rest i programmed everything outside, in the profiler and it works like a charm. load a profile, open wordpad and see if any letters appear when u press the programmed buttons on the stick (and/or check the mfd), if letters appear your profile works. if not , then your drivers are messed up, uninstall all saitek drivers and remove the virtual hardware saitek installed. reinstall (latest) drivers first, and (latest) profiler-software later. heres my profile, i am using profiler 6.0.10.7.. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=8MOQS3GZ HF (plz leave my name in the filename when sharing)
  3. I uploaded my DCS Profile, i tried to keep it simple so programmed only (it are still quite a few) the keys that u would need often, like trimming, locking, slewing, autopilots etc. personally i really like the layout of the stick so i thought id upload. i am using profiler 6.0.10.7 download link: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=8MOQS3GZ :pilotfly:
  4. so, u are running the cd version. as far as i know only the russian cd uses starforce, the download doesnt.broken hardware / corrupted files can give unpredictable results too. try running chkdsk.exe and do a reinstall see if it persists...(just reinstalling on the same pc without changing hardware wont cost you a reactivation/activation).
  5. looks like a file is corrupted (widgettheme.cpp) , try reinstalling the game (if u didnt change any hardware u wont need to enter a activation key).
  6. got my pc back to day after sending it to repair. hard-drive was tested all was ok but (fortunately for me) then vista gave problems on reinstall. they replaced hard-disk, memory, the case (display broke). dvd drive was replaced earlier.. i had my fair share of bad luck, and luck that i got good service and guarantee on the hardware. i just reinstalled dcs and havent had any probs so far (apart from having only a few activations left grr!!!the deactivations dont work) hopefully i can finally play online with my mp maps (i host using nname spike btw ;P) and dont lose all my hard work on the maps again.... bottom line: prob dcs had nothing to do with the boot crash! however if i get the same probs again it will most likely be caused by dcs because thats the only thing i have practically installed and all the hardware has been replaced (samsung hd this time instead of maxtor, still kingston mem)..anyway i dont expect any more problems anymore so untill then i blame everything that happened on a faulty hard drive, still a lot of thx for all the help i got thought it was polight to let u guys know everything is working over here now.
  7. ps, i suggest you load up 8 vs 8 standard multiplayer map to figure out the triggers, it has several messages displayed after a certain group is killed. in this map i added an ai TRansport, when it arrived near the airfield where it would land, a delayed message was displayed ("attention i ahigh value asset has arrived at blablabla...") and a sound was played all worked fine, i could activate triggers as well, all the clients have names...are u sure u added their names as being able to activate the particular trigger?
  8. sorry but what am i missing here? the host has to load the map, the map contains the triggers that where SET in the mission editor.(you do ofc have to save your map in the editor duh). so why is it so surprising that clients cant SET triggers, its perfectly normal imo. if u mean clients cant activate triggers then that might be(never tested it) , but (any) triggers that dont require to be "client-activated" work as far i can tell. (dont add ships though it makes alt-tabbing impossible in full screen mode). i might ah have been tottally missing the point, apologies in advance
  9. the dvd burner before this one was a samsung.. btw i have set sli-mode off in the bios now, and chose pci-e as first boot device now..havent had any crashes today, or any since the last chkdsk fix...but its only day2..i hope turning off sli-mode (no idea why it was on) will fix things is there anyway i can run a test on my motherboard to see if anything is wrong with it? ill keep u guys updated...
  10. try running everything at the lowest settings and set your graphics card to standard sets, still happens>?
  11. yep, i kinda suspect the hardrive from shutting itself down, causing a crash, then ofc the system wont boot. i found (only a few days ago ) that after just leaving the unbootable pc to rest for an hour magically makes it boot again (had to fix several errors using chkdisk though) now its almost fine again.(dvd = slow and i know ill get boot problems within a few weeks again but get more adept at fixing it {dont know if this is a good sign though}). weird thing is the temperatures are fine so the disk isnt shutting down due to overheating (at least it shouldnt). i play mostly dcs so i cant say if dcs causes this or my system or vista or a combo of these (had it happen for the first time in another game yesterday). so dont know what to blaim vista dcs or the hardware. temp readings: Hardware Monitoring : ITE IT8716F Voltage CPU : 1.41 V +3.3V Voltage : 3.38 V +5V Voltage : 5.02 V +12V Voltage : 11.94 V VBAT : 3.04 V Processor Ventilator : 3729 rpm Chassis Ventilator : 10 rpm Power/Aux Ventilator : 10 rpm Processor Temperatuur : 51 °C Moederbord Temperatuur : 41 °C Power/Aux Temperatuur : 25 °C ACPI Thermal Zone : 40 °C : Processor : Thermal Diode AMD Athlon 64 X2 (Core 1) : 28.2 °C AMD Athlon 64 X2 (Core 2) : 33.8 °C : ATI Radeon HD 4800 Series : ATI Catalyst Driver GPU Temperature : 42 °C GPU Fan : 60% : nVidia Monitoring : NVSU Interface Processor Temperatuur : 51 °C Moederbord Temperatuur : 41 °C Processor Ventilator : 3729 rpm
  12. hmm i think i am gonna do some sniffing in those config files :P
  13. oh yeah i dont run em as admin only installed them as admin, still i think u would want the taskmanager window open before you start tir or tir wil hang when using ctrl alt del, and youll have to restart everything again, there is btw a tool that automatically sets affinity right for dcs but forgot its name, bet u can find it when u google it
  14. try using F8, worked for me. (f12 = center tir, f9 = pause tir, f8 is stop shaky tir and make it steady tir ;P)

  16. have the same probs, i think its just accumulated errors in the ap though, check your rudders (should be centered), make sure enroute mode is off, make sure auto target mode (q-key) is off, make sure alt-hold is off (it will stay on after having entered hover mode) or youll be fighting the autopilot....are you sure you use trim correct? hold trim for large inputs and tap for small input changes, realease when stabilized on new heading, make sure your not inputting rudder when releasing (unless its very windy). when free flying, always use the autpilot director on, adf off for when in hover mode, enroute mode, or for those boring straight flights...when in adf trim once ( i ussually trim for 160-200 kmh's horizontal flight) then u can just fly and change heading and fly low through cities under bridges etc withouth having to even touch trim whatsoever and your not fighting the ap. u can use "right control + enter" to see what the autopilot is doing and check rudders, u can ofc also look down and check rudder that way but the rctlr+enter options is helpfull if u start learning to fly and will prevent u from learning bad habits, like having to use trim reset while flying ;P. make sure your fps is above 20 (pref 24)

  18. dunno, the total war series (rome, barbarians , medieval 2 & kingdoms ) and thats about it...all legit ofc, never gave me problems before
  19. i know, for me its even worse one the one hand if have the guy that sold me the pc (he is giving decent service, i know he builds decent systems too, and offered a refund even though he is sure the hardware is fine) that says the software is messing up vista, on the other hand i have u guys (dont get me wrong i really reaaallly dig dcs very much!) telling me my hardware is broken (but its all brand new and i even replaced the old new hardware and getting the same probs again... but if no one reports boot problems its probably something with my hardware then :S, i have a habit of selecting broken stuff from stores, if theres 999 boxes with a fine produkt and 1 box has a broken product chances are i get the broken produkt..
  20. ok, well replaced the dvd, guy checked my entire system (hard-disk and mem etc where fine), added 550v power instead of 450 and guess what, exactly the same problems again after dcs crashed (and it ran fine for several days when i didnt install dcs...), and the new dvd-drive is starting to get slow now again too, already used 8 activation codes $@#$@# and when reinstalling vista reactivation doesnt work! i did some research and although they say there is isnt starforce protection anymore, the protection (whatever you want to call it) is made by the starforce company......since i have a NEW system wich now already broke 3 times after dcs has crashed i have no other reason to believe dcs is actually breaking my pc when it crashes (while running in server mode). i mean exactly the same problems occur on different hardware after the same event (DCS running in server mode crashes) is there anyone having similar problems (eg boot problems after dcs crash?)..
  21. using alt tab, then crtl-alt-del in vista to access taskmanager to set affinity will mak tir hang: i found the following solution to this: first open taskmanager and minimize it, then start tir and then dcs, wait till u get in the mission in dcs, alt-tab and set affinity in the taskmanager, if all is welll tir shopuld still work now.\cepega, what comp do u have, i have amd dual core @ 3.12 ghz 4 g ram and a hd radeon 4850, and my fps sucks..i am getting a refund on this shit-system and was wondering what tot ake instead...
  22. Hi i found the following bugs: when i make a mission in the editor and add ships (in this case it was 1 usa flight deck ship and 1 russian frigate [not the aa the other one]) if u run the mission it works fine then alt-tAb, everything is ok -> alt tab again to get back in game and nothing will happen, dcs still runs but cant be accessed anymore...remove the ships from the mission and everything works fine again). vista 32b, amd dual core, ati hd 4850 , 4g ram. when changing to external views several times (e.g. F2) will mess up my engine sounds (running dcs under vista sp1) ps: i alt-tab out to set the affinity of the core's right...this needs a fix as well (it will boost my framerate by 7-10 which is worth the effort) :joystick:
  23. hi, ive been flying dcs quite a while now and trim like this: for large and long changes in speed/direction etc hold the trim and release until your on your new course and fly stable, (no ADF). for small corrections just set new course and tap trim. for more acrobatic flight either ADF or hold the trim. i NEVER have the altitude hold engaged because you will be fighting the autopilot more then that it will help u...also very important after hover mode, disengage the autopilots altitude hold), make sure when setting new routes, enroute mode is off and u have autoturn to target turned off. imporant not to forget, if u change collective u also need to trim, also get used to watching if your gaining or losing altitude, when u have desired speed adjust with the collective to stop ascending or descending. sometimes after flying for a long time having used trim a lot it wil have accumulated errors (rudder inputs u dont want etc), it sometimes helps to reset the trim, if you feel the autopilot is acting weird...tapping trim several times when on a steady course can helps to sometimes... Still...flying the black shark with a non FF stick is less then ideal imo, it feels unnatural and especially when u need to maneuver when under fire, trying to get the pipper back on target...i am usally so busy pressing trim and carebearing that stupid autopilot that i have no thumb left to release my weapons with. basically the trim/autopilot kills me at least as often as the enemy does....
