I've almost completed another Canadian camo skin. This one is based on the CH-146 Griffon helicopters being used in Afghanistan as escorts for our CH-147D Chinooks. Here is a teaser photo. It will be another Canadian country flyable. Modman 7.1.1.0 compatible. ;)

Nice skin. The only thing its missing is a Canadian Flag and Roundel. :music_whistling: Looks good though.

Canadian Olive Grey skin now available for download at www.lockonfiles.com:thumbup: It is installed to be selectable as a Canadian Country flyable only, in the mission planner. This skin is modman 7.1.1.0 compatible. You MUST have Vik Vaughns Slovakia skin installed before installing this skin or it WILL NOT work. Feedback welcome. More to come. Enjoy.;) Attached Thumbnails

Yeah 15th Field Regiment is in Vancouver. I was in Shilo Manitoba quite a bit though. I always had the intent of joining the airforce but never got around to it. Unfortunately before I joined the artillery, the liberals got into power and started disbanding the forces. The only thing available to me at the time was the army. I guess army life just left a bad taste in my mouth so I never pursued the airforce. I'm just doing some computer maintenance right now so hopefully tomorrow I will get around to making that skin modman compatible

Hey Crazy I will check out that tutorial. Thanks for the info.

I was kidding about the attack chopper terminology, its just the closest thing we have to an attack chopper right now serving our troops in afghanistan. They are escorting the chinook helis which was done by american apaches before. What branch did you serve? I was with 15th Field Artillery regiment. Retired Bombardier. I only flew in the CH-136 Kiowa on recon missions.

Yeah I will be releasing it to the public once I figure out how to put it to modman. I think all the skin modders seem to be from Canada, heh heh. Im from Abbotsford B.C. myself. Home of the Abbotsford International Airshow.

Actually pitbull, that is a picture of a Canadian Buffalo SAR aircraft. Army helos don't have the flag above Canada. Check link below of Canadas newest attack helo, the CH-146 Griffon. I'm thinking of making a darker green camo like the griffon as well, but i'm kinda partial to the greyer looking camo. I just need to figure out how to put it to modman. http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://cdn-www.airliners.net/aviation-photos/photos/6/0/2/0933206.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.airliners.net/open.file/933206/L/&usg=__UVhLPnJTQykZ0j0cl8CM2D-AcKE=&h=826&w=1200&sz=425&hl=en&start=6&um=1&tbnid=pR0pq9QezUuU4M:&tbnh=103&tbnw=150&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dch-146%2Bgriffon%26hl%3Den%26rls%3Dcom.microsoft:en-ca:IE-SearchBox%26rlz%3D1I7ADBF%26sa%3DG%26um%3D1

I think that the majority of us don't care about the unimportant switches that inflate the g-suit, or the urine stains on the seat, ROFL.:megalol: You forgot the puke stains. Some of the people on here however do.:megalol: But I think that the majority of us, myself included just want a realistic flight model and all the systems needed to perform a mission to somewhat represent what it would feel like to have a large portion, if not all, of the pilot workload. We obviously cant get it all onto a computer, but if we can get a large portion of it on the computer, than I am as happy as %*&$#%! can be. What aircraft have you flown Rhen out of curiosity. I have a brother in the Canadian airforce who has flown CF-18s and he loves his job.

I think you are missing the point. I, and I'm sure everyone here, understands that there is a whole lot more to strapping a helicopter to the seat of your pants. That is why we all fly simulators on computers. But it is nice to avoid all the other stuff that you said and just strap on the helicopter and go flying in our virtual world imagining that we were in your position after all that other rigamarole. Don't ruin our fantasies by telling us all, that this simulation is all fake and has no realism to it whatsoever. Some of us are unable to partake in that adventure due to sight restrictions or other reasons. That is why we have our virtual world that we would all like to be as real as possible.

You got that right, or I want my money back! ;)

I have to agree with sticking to real rather than guess work. Alot of what attracts me to this game is the fact that it is as close to being real as it can get. To know that we are flying an aircraft that is totally modelled on a real aircraft almost sends shivers down my spine. It gives you a sense that you are doing everything that a real pilot has to deal with (the same pilot workload). I dont think the learning curve would be as fun if you knew that you were learning a fictional aircraft system. Don't get me wrong though, I've played almost every sim out there from Janes Longbow and up, and I had fun playing those games too, (for a short while). I have never been as addicted to a flight sim ever until now. The realism is definitely what did it for me, and I think that any true simmer would have to agree.

Disabling recording of tracks
Sharkster64 replied to Sharkster64's topic in User Created Missions General
I was watching my track record and it replayed everything from my mouse movements to my button clicks to even my head movement throughout the whole mission. To me that just seems like a lot of stuff being recorded that it might affect performance. My fps arent too bad right now, but i was just curious if it might be improved by this. -
I was curious, if I somehow disabled the recording of tracks during sp missions, would this give me a higher FPS? If so how would I do that, if it is even possible? It makes sense to me that recording tracks during a mission would gobble up some of my performance.

Cachya doesnt need no work around to get 6DOF to work right away. It works straight out of the box, flawlessly. You can try their trial version which only enables one axis, and if you like it, it costs $14.00 to purchase the registered version which enables the 6DOF. I was skeptical at first but was exstatic when it worked so well. I get all the same movement you see on all the Black shark videos utilizing Track IR and just as smooth.
-
Yes I can get 6DOF in Cachya. I get around 20 fps with cachya, it runs really smooth. The game still runs around 26 fps for me, which is what i was getting before. All you do is print out a template that they have on their site on regular white printer paper and tape it to a hat. Run the software and that is it. Just check out the website at http://www.cachya.com/esight/overview.php It takes a couple hours to get it tweaked and set up up the way you want on bs, but well worth the price.

Anybody here tried Cachya. It utilizes your webcam as well and it works absolutely awesome. I have just started using it and it works just as good as the other brands at a fraction of the cost. It is 6DOF and as long as you have a webcam and an extra $14.00 to spend on the program, that is all you are going to spend. I was sceptical about it at first but was truly amazed at how smooth and flawless it runs. You will need to use it in a darker room however, but it does work awesome. It is really easy to set up and there is no fiddling with led lights and such. Just check it out for yourself at http://www.cachya.com/esight/overview.php

I extracted the file to the modman addons_dcs folder so that it showed 4 rar files in the addon_dcs folder. I then installed it with the modman installer. It showed all four skins in the top left box all green. I then checked all of them and hit install. As for trying manually, I did that after installing them with the modman when that didnt work. I tried installing other skins after as well and they installed no problem. The boxes only showed red before I installed them. After I installed them they were green.

I just tried installing other skins and they seem to work fine. However your canadian skins which I really want dont seem to work. I noticed that with the other skins, they seem to have more files showing in the lower right box and they are all green with one of the files having cfg in the green box. However on the Canadian skins there is only one file available in the lower right box and it is not green. It also says N/A. I wonder if something got screwed up on the download and I didnt get all the files. Will try downloading again.
