  1. I am using 7.1.0.9 version of modman. I am also using english version of Black Shark. It was only invisible when I tried installing manually without using modman. I tried this after I could not get the skins to show up in game after I used Modman. The rotors and cockpit were visible butnot the skin. However I would like to install them with modman and I cannot seem to get them to install period. On Modman it all shows green as installed. All four aircraft appear in the top left box and their picture appears in the right. I checked all four boxes and exited the installer. Then I started game from modman. No skins were available.
  2. I did that already and it showed all the aircraft in the green as installed. I checked on all four aircraft and they did not appear in the game.
  3. Hey RCN Moose, I am trying to install your Canadian Skins but when I start up the game, the skins are invisible. What am I doing wrong?
  4. I guess they will just have to come out with Player controlled SU-27 to defend KA-50s.
  5. Thankyou for the clarification. I tried what you said and was able to get a better understanding of the FD. In essence the FD gives you complete control of the aircraft without the autopilot trying to point you in the direction of your last trimmed heading. I noticed that you are not constantly fighting the autopilot with FD on even when you are trimming (the trim has no effect), but you still have alot of the stability offered by the autopilot. On the other hand you have to constantly provide input from your controls to maintain your heading. I also noticed that when you are engaging a target while hovering or trying to maintain forward flight, it is easier to have the FD off because you can maintain aircraft position with the trim (decreasing overtasking). I now know that if I am flying around for fun, taking evasive maneuvers or doing strafeing runs on a target the FD is the way to go so I dont have to constantly be trimming so im not fighting the autopilot. Thankyou very much
  6. No, alphainfinity was not referring to the altitude hold button on the autopilot, he was referring to the switch located next to the 4 autopilot button that changes to barometric altitude or radar. By default it is turned off after auto startup.
  7. Quick question about Flight Director. Does it actually change the way the aircraft flies or does it just give cueing in the hud regarding where the shark is trimmed. Ive flown with the shark in FD mode and without and I couldnt see any difference in the way the shark performed. I find that the extra cueing in the hud just clutters the display so I dont use Flight Director. But I have seen so many posts on how people wouldnt fly without it like it is some miraculous gadget making the shark fly like a dream when I think it flies like a dream without it.
  8. Sounds like you might have "AUTO TURN ON TARGET" button engaged while having the shkval pointed in a different direction. If you turn on Auto hover when this button is pushed it will continuously try to point the aircraft in the direction of the shkval regardless of how much you trim the rudder. (I made same mistake when I started playing). Turn off the auto turn on target button before you hit auto hover and Im sure your problem will go away.
  9. I DON'T feel that I have to check it all the time and I believe I have already stated that. I just simply asked a question as to why the airspeed wasnt included in the hud during weapons employment. Obviously I dont use it either, since it is not included in the hud and I play this game on a regular basis. I was merely asking a Question. A simple answer from the developer would have sufficed. If the developers of the KA-50 decided that the information was not useful, then I will just have to live with that.
  10. Actually Maverick, it is caused by your rate of descent but the emergency procedure to get out of a VRS is to increase forward airspeed to roughly 50, hence the discussion about airspeed indicators. I am just using VRS as an example of why having an airspeed indicator on the hud would be useful. Is there anyone out there that actually thinks airspeed is a useful bit of information or am I just beating a dead horse.
  11. I am not saying that i do use the airspeed indicator all the time. Chances are not a lot of people do. My eyes are on the pipper like everyone else. However there are times when flying an aircraft that certain tidbits of information do become useful. In such cases like an emergency. Over tasking in an emergency such as a vortex ring state for example, would be having to switch to the nav mode to have all relevant information displayed on the hud. In an emergency the best place for your eyes would be outside the cockpit, not in it. In order to get out of a vortex ring state you have to increase forward speed. Now to decrease overtasking in that situation and have eyes outside the cockpit, wouldn't it be better to have the speed indicator on the hud already? Imagine that you are in an actual chopper where you could actually get killed by entering into a vortex ring state. Where would you be looking, at your instruments or would you be looking outside the aircraft. Chances are you would want to be looking outside. Wouldn't you want that information to be on your hud? Also imagine that you are not looking at a small screen where it is easier to look at the airspeed indicator by moving your eyes down. Instead you are in a full size cockpit where you actually have to move your head down to look at you airspeed indicator. I know I for one would like to have a little information such as airspeed that other people think is useless on my Hud. Dont forget you could just press the declutter button, and take the altitude indicator off the hud as well, since all you want is the pipper.
  12. So you admit to looking at your airspeed in the IAS indicator. That is exactly my point. Any information that you have to look at should be on the hud. You shouldnt have to look at your instruments, especially in combat. If you dont feel the information is important then you should just have to hit the declutter button. Looking at airspeed is not overtasking. It is a quick determination of how fast you are going if you feel that information is important at that time. I dont know about you but i have never been overtasked by looking at my airspeed. I have never crashed or been shot down by simply looking at my speed. If airspeed isnt important, than why have it on the hud at all? Obviously there are certain people that do find airspeed important information, otherwise this wouldnt have been brought up. If you were to enter into a vortex ring state while gunning a target, you would obviously need to look at your airspeed to get out of it.
  13. What about rockets or guns when you are no longer hovering. you dont find the speed indicator useful in the hud? speed is very important information, and i dont know of any other aircraft that doesnt supply that information in the hud when weapons are turned on.
  14. Can someone explain to me why the speed disappears from the hud when you activate a weapon. After all, this information is quite important, same as altitude. I know it is displayed in the shkval but not all weapons require that you look at the shkval. I find that very annoying because i cant turn my shkval or weapon on until i have come to a complete stop and have activated the auto hover. I would like to track a target at the same time as when I come to a hover.
  15. This thread brings me to another question. Why does the speed disappear on the hud when you bring up a weapon. That information is kind of important. Just as important as altitude.
  16. Sounds like you made same mistake I made when I started playing. I think you forgot to turn laser on. On left targeting panel there is a laser standby switch which has to be turned on which isnt turned on by default on auto engine start. If laser is not turned they will fall short.
  17. I have no problem unpausing from spectator mode as well. I use the pause key as well. I simply hit esc to view the scenery and then hit the pause button. It wont work if you dont hit esc first. If you want to go back to the aircraft selection screen, just hit esc again. Hope this helps.
  18. Just a little correction on the AUTO TURN ON TARGET. This mode can also be used in the ROUTE mode not just the HOVER. You can turn it on while on route to a waypoint and the aircraft will turn and point itself in the direction of the skhval. It will no longer chase the Waypoint. This way you can maintain forward flight in autopilot and steer the aircraft with the skhval when a target is seen so that you can engage a target in autopilot. Very useful. Good post though:thumbup:
  19. Will the IFF be somehow modeled in the new patch so that we can properly determine if the armoured vehicles we are shooting at are friendly. That would be a nice feature. Alot of the multiplayer missions have the same vehicles on both sides so it is impossible to determine if the vehicles are friendly or enemy
