  1. How do you know that is what most aviators do? Have you physically watched most aviators shut down an aircraft? I know that they would say that they shut everything down, but I bet that the majority don't turn the radio off every time they shut down the aircraft, when the power to the aircraft shuts it down for them. I don't care what real aviators would do or not do, I just want to know, (like Msalama does), how to alter the .lua files to keep certain switches on. I think his question was a very good question.
  2. I agree with Msalama. It would be nice to alter the .Lua file to make certain switches left on. It would be nice not to have to switch every switch on when you do a cold start. I'm sure that pilots in the real aircraft, don't switch every button off when they shut down the aircraft. After all, you have to turn the electrical power on in order for certain items to work such as the radio. It would be nice to do a cold start without having to switch on the radio every time, or other items that only work when the power is turned on. Is it possible to alter the .lua file?
  3. One thing you guys have to remember is that he just bought this game. When I first got this game, I thought that the pitch was to sensitive as well. I was trimming as well, but my nose was bobbing up and down as well like crazy. I didn't really understand the trim too well though. After time in the Black Shark, and watching the producers notes, I realized that the problem was me, and that I wasn't trimming properly. Also, I don't use a FFB joystick which compounds that problem as well. But after time and experience in this sim, I don't have the problem that he is having, and I have the joystick set as sensitive as can be. I know that his problem is a trimming issue. Try flying in FD mode and see if you are getting as much bobbing as when you are in AP mode. If you are using a non FFB joystick, make sure that after you trim, you center the joystick as quickly as possible. If you don't, your nose will bob. We have to make due with what we have got. The difference with a FFB joystick and a Non FFB joystick is that the FFB joystick will stay in the position that you last trimmed when you let go of it. The Non FFB joystick will center itself after trimming when you let go of it, hence the bobbing of your nose. Make sure you watch the Producers note on trim. ;)
  4. All the information you need is on the sticky thread on Trimming. Also watch the producers note on trimming. You are fighting the autopilot, that is why your nose is bobbing. ;)
  5. I have been using my Racing wheel Pedals for rudder input as well and it works awesome. When calibrating the wheel instead of turning the wheel to calibrate, just use pedal inputs. It converts pedal inputs into the wheel Y axis. The pedals use only one axis. If you don't give any pedal input the axis is centered. If you give right pedal input, the axis lowers. If you give left pedal input, the axis rises. Works very well.
  6. I use th CH F-16 CombatStick with the CH Pro Throttle and I have to say, what a reliable setup. I originally bought this setup way back when Janes Longbow first came out. It still uses the gameport, but it keeps on ticking. I can't believe how well it works after being used so long. And trust me, it has been used alot, and sometimes not so gently. VERY reliable. I also love the feel of the setup. It's very comfortable to use and easy to program. If you want to buy something that lasts a long time, CH Products is the way to go, IMHO. :) Edit: I just looked up when Longbow came out. It came out in 1996. That makes my CH Products setup 13 years old and still ticking. Can the Saitek beat that?
  7. :megalol: ROFL, That is a good one. I can certainly relate to that one. I'll be putting that in the cockpit of all my skins from now on. :megalol:
  8. I have never seen that problem before. I use Windows XP and have no problem with it. Did you install the 2.0 .net framework like it tells you to? I don't know if that helps or not. I'm not really the one to help you out with this problem.
  9. It would be nice to implement VOIP using the Ka-50 radio in multiplayer games. If you change the frequency of the r-800 radio, you can get your buddy on the same frequency to talk back and forth. I think that would really add to the immersion of the sim. Then if you were on the opposing team, you could also try to find the frequency that your enemy is on and listen in. It would really promote radio silence and using code to talk back and forth. It would also be nice to add sound clips to certain frequencies throughout the map. There could be a broadcasting tower at all the airports. It would also be nice to tune to your prefered frequency. Then I could add an ATC soundclip to a designated frequency. I hope these get impemented in future patches
  10. I'm curious, is it possible to put a different sound file on the squelch for the R-828 as well. I noticed that if I switch to my R-828, and turn squelch on, it uses the same static file. There must be a way to alter one of the .lua files to use a different sound for that radio. Ideally I would like to have some ground communication sound file on the R-828 squelch, and an air communication sound file on the R-800 squelch. :helpsmilie:
  11. Thanks Moose, you beat me to it. I already had one made up and ready to post. Now I don't have to bother with that.
  12. I just tried VAC 2.1.9 just to see if it was a better program than Shoot just out of curiosity. They have a 30 day free trial (the program should be free IMHO). I Strongly disagree that VAC is a better program. For starters, you can't map a joystick button to VAC which is a must. In shoot you can. Other than that the user interface is almost identical. The Recognition was identical. Shoot is also free. I would rather use Shoot any day IMHO. ;)
  13. Looks good!
  14. Hey, thanks. :)
  15. Hehe, Nice skin. :megalol:
  16. So what are you saying, that we need your permission to start these polls? What is the point of a forum then if people are not allowed to voice their opinions. I simply asked what people prefered, the A-10 or the AH-64a and now I need permission to start a poll? I have seen a number of polls and threads come up and never have I seen permission required. I'm sure that if ED finds whatever thread is offensive or disruptive, they will just remove the thread. But I don't think any one has ever asked permission to start a thread or poll.
  17. For your information, I don't need EDs permission to start a poll. This forum is for members who wish to learn something or express their opinion. If you don't like this thread, don't let the door hit you on the way out.
  18. How is posting your opinion on the direction of a software module cheeky and rude? It is the farthest thing from it. Developers can learn from it and make their own judgement from it. If anything, this poll lets the developer know what people are thinking, and can provide the right direction for them. The developer doesn't want to release a product if it is not going to sell. They want to release a product that will sell. The only way they can get an idea about whether it will sell are by polls such as these. Now they know that there are alot of people out there that want to see the A-10, if they did not know that before. They also know now that there are alot of people that want to see the apache. I think this thread has recieved alot of popularity because people want to voice their opinions on the product that they are going to buy in the future. And I'm sure ED wants to continue to provide the astounding quality in this series. :D
  19. Yeah you are doing it right.
  20. You CAN do it and I just figured out how. First off you have to switch the {Manual/Auto Weapon control switch} to Manual. Default button is [A]. This allows you to fire the vikhr whenever you feel like it with no cool down period. If you leave it in auto, the vikhr will only fire after the other missile has reached its target. I was fiddling with it for quite some time to get the perfect parameters. When you Lock a target, lock the closest one first, (It is easier to adjust to the further target after hit). Always make sure the targets are close together. A convoy is an ideal target group because they travel close together. I found that if the targets were too far apart, the missile would lose sight of the laser and just fall to the ground. I fired the second Vikhr when the first one was about half way to the target. This gives you ample time to adjust the laser to the second target. Just hold the lock button down again and slew the laser slowly to the second target. Don't move the laser too fast and too far away from the first target or the second Vikhr will lose the laser and fall way short. It actually works. I also noticed that you could lock a target and fire a missile at a further distance in manual. Have fun with this one, I know I will. Thanks for bringing this thread up which gave me the inspiration to try this out.
  21. I've uploaded my Canadian Trainer skin to www.lockonfiles.com and it is now available for download. This skin is flyable with Canada only, from the mission editor. IMPORTANT ***You MUST install VikVaughns Slovakia skin FIRST before installing this skin or it will not work. There is code embedded in the Slovakia skin which enables skins to be flown from Canada.*** Enjoy ;)

  23. I second that! Great job on the tutorial RCN_Moose. Couldn't have made my skins without it.:thumbup::thumbup:
  24. I dont see how the current graphics are unsuitable for the Apache. If you have ever played the Longbow series, the graphics were far worse and that game was a hit. I think that they can certainly bring out the apache with this graphics engine. I don't see a problem with it. It can certainly be made better, but I'm not complaining with the current graphics. BRING ON THE APACHE!!!!
  25. I have to say that I like your dirty version better. Although trainers are usually kept cleaner. They don't see combat after all. I still like the dirty version.
