  2. @Zubuzard: Thank you very much! Sorry I wasn't trying to be condescending, I am sometimes a little frustrated due to my small RAM capacity IRL. I read the manual and found the button and actually made a bind to it..... I still don't get flares... Still working on it. Due to the fact I have double digit IQ, can some one please talk me through setting up the countermeasures like they would a 5 year old? Thanks Gents
  3. Good God, Why can't they have a naming convention in DCS for just Flare or Chaff dispense, instead of some obscure ramdom title like: Scrotum squeeze dispense counter buckle front seat &^%*&$$%@%$*^)(&)&^^&$&^# ?
  4. I have come to understand the the F4E was just a power and vertical maneuver beast. I'm trying to feel my way through some tactics. If it doesn't have the power for that or that it isn't a turn fighter.. what do you do besides trying to just jump an unaware opponent. The F4 is a big heavy bird but those massive twin engines must account for something. I remember that the F14 was the same when it first came out but now she is amazing.

Hi Guys, I just started flying he F4 and was watching some videos on the F4 combat in Vietnam, those Smithsonian videos and some others on how the pilots maneuvered when encountering migs in dogfights. Of course I tried to use high speed and tried to replicate what Olds did etc. I feel the speed bleed off is way to much when using the vertical and trying the cross over maneuvers, acceleration is also kinda sluggish, anyone else tried these? I was watching a video on the real life F16 pilots trying the Viper and they commented that the speed bleed off was way to much and acceleration was to low from what they remembered flying the real jet. After a few months DCS increased the acceleration and lowered the speed bleed off and the Viper responds much better now. I was wondering if there is any real F4 pilots trying out the new heat blur module? Any of you gamer pilots have any good ideas when trying to fight the AI or is it just "you get what you get" and try to discover new ways to ACM within the game?

  8. Try the sliders in the settings for the Av8B, there is a contrast and gain slider you can adjust
  9. Tonapah test range I was trying to take off from, I also out the temp down to 6*C I haven't tried Edwards though
  10. I've tried with 1300Lbs of fuel and thats it! can hardly get the thing off the ground. I have no issues like this in other maps... Anyone else experiencing this?
  11. I would really like a LHA like the Tarawa or America added for the rotary and STOVL players out there with all the radio and LSO/Deck crew options that the Hornet guys get!

  12. Well I've been doing some testing as the claims of the flight model is realistic. Some things I've found: service ceiling for the F1 is 66,000ft, try and get to that altitude, 2. specs say ferry range (combat patrol)is 2:15min with belly tank and super 530's, try that... Max speed is Mach 2.2, try and get above Mach 2.0 for more than 5 min, engine will blow up and die. Also try landing at 140 knots clean, which was one of the pluses to the F1.....Can't really get any radar lock over 15km... You say that the flight model is complete, or close? humm... just saying......

  14. I also love the mirage f1 but..... I'm a real life pilot as well and i also own 90% of the DCS modules and fly all of them. I'm not trying in any way to attack Aerges on their amazing work that they have done with the F1, I'm just saying the flight model needs tweaking. I cannot believe that this aircraft actually flys like it does in DCS. I shoot a 530 missile and when I try and manoeuvre to get on the bandits 6, the F1 rolls and pitches like its out of control and the amount of trim needed to actually fly straight and level is crazy. If this is how it flew in real life God help those who flew it! I also can't believe that, when hitting the max AOA there is that sudden fall off of speed and that the transition is so sudden with no warning what so ever. Maybe its just my set up but I think that a lot me players are having this issue also. I understand that its very difficult to have it set up for such a wide range of peripherals and computers but there should be a way to do it or tweak it do do so, Even the Mig-21 was nasty at the beginning of development. Anyway, I just wanted to give my feedback for constructive purposes. To say the flight model is just about perfect at this stage is nuts, go and actually through it around in the air with a Mig -21, Mig-19 or F-5 and you will begin to see what I mean.... spend some time in combat with it.
  15. I think I have just about everything in the DCS aircraft line up and 2 choppers, it seems to me like the F1 is the worst flying jet right now. A few years ago the f-16 wasn't that great and they adjusted the flight model to represent how it actually flys. I'm hoping that there are updates on the way for this beautiful bird because you may as we fly a Cessna in combat. I fly mostly single player and I know that the AI can fly like UFO's but wow the F1 will not out turn anything... well maybe a C-130. I really hope they change it to make it fly like I've read it does instead of a little pull on the stick and you get that wet fart and you basically hover. I've tried out fight F4's, su 17s, mig 19's and most 3 gen jets, its just terrible. I thought the F1 was supposed to be really good for its time?
  16. Just wanted to give some feedback on the new FM. Its a lot better but, being a rotary wing, from the ground to 50ft is a little twitchy. Please look into smoothing the FM as it shouldn't be that twitchy in ground effect. The FM as you get above 50ft and transition from ground effect to flight is great! Also, being a rotary wing we should be able to auto-rotate with engine failure and land? Just wonder if something controllable could be implemented? I am also a real world pilot with experience with Bell 206 and Robinson R-22 and R-44

I'm just finding the armoured headrest really difficult when I try check six for enemy aircraft, even when in a turning fight the armour above my head obstructs the other aircraft and I can't see SH&T most of the time. Just wanted the ability to remove this in the options like the flare pistol.
  18. What is the max speed for flaps open? I'm trying to use them in combat and I try and stay around 300kts to 200knts and I keep jamming them open....at what speed should I be retracting them?
  19. Just wondered if there would ever be a chance for ED to have a land based runway practice course you could set up. In training before going to the carrier, I'm guessing they have a land based system with FLOLS to practice your patterns, hight and speed targets etc? Just thought it would make a great addition.

  21. Just want to say that the F14 is the best module in DCS... and I wish there was MORE jester comments. I fly longer missions and I'd love the option to have him engage in small talk. It doesn't have to be all the time. Even talk about fuel, turbulence, distance from carrier... Great job Heatblur! Thanks for the attention to detail
  22. Just wondered if there will be a replay fix for the F14. Most other aircraft it works well including the F16. F18 used to be as bad but somehow they fixed it. Love to be able to review some flights with the F14
