The Viper flys pretty awesome! A few things though. Pitch trim is way sensitive I'm finding and needs to be toned down a bit. Also it seems like there is a slight .... very slight roll to the right... not sure if this is correctly modeled but with fly by wire I thought it should be almost hands free or almost so when trimmed. When rolling for take off the viper doesn't track straight, I'm used to this in prop planes but it seems weird with the viper.

What causes jester to lose lock so easily?
Harley Davidson replied to mehksauce's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Hey Robert, I'm having the same sort of issues. On the HB missions I can't lock on many bandits even when they are within 15mn and I'm on their 6. I've also had issues with inbound mig 21's that I just don't see until they fire a missile. Shouldn't jester go to wide azimuth when bandit is within 20nm? I dunno if I was RIO i think this would help. I have real difficult locating a bandit after a merge and if they extend out of my sight range I'm screwed as its impossible to find them... I'm also not that great of a pilot either so I'm not helping things -
I'm having a few issues with target locking and wanted to know if the issue is my lack of experience. From a distance in the HB missions I find it difficult to lock incoming bandits and even when merged I cannot lock them in Pilot lock mode PAL or the other 2 modes. Jester can lock incoming bandits on created missions but will loose lock sometimes, aircraft are nose hot. When on a bandits 6 in close combat, the PAL or pilot lock will not always lock target or takes about 3 to 5 seconds for the designater to start its search, those seconds can mean the difference between life and death. Also shouldn't jester go to wide azimuth when bandit closes to around 10 miles and or reset to wide azimuth to search for bandit when lock is lost? MODS PLEASE DELETE THREAD AS SOMEONE POSTED THIS SAME TOPIC 5 MINS AGO! Just wanted to know what experiences you guys are having. I know the 14 is still being worked on and hope thats the issue.

Just wanted to ask if anyone has been landing the Tomcat in case III? I'm pretty new to the 'cat so wondered how to know carrier orientation at night? On the Hornet you can see this on the HUD when everything below you is obscured or pitch black. Is there a way to see carrier orientation (direction) with the 'cat? Also is the cat equipped for IFR flight avionics? I guess for a case III for land and carrier based landings?

Just looking at the map, in the lower left corner there is some coastline. Can the Devs add a small amount of sea so we can use a carrier for carrier ops and training for this map? It shouldn't be a stretch for them to add a little coastline and it doesn't need to be very detailed. I'd love to be able to use the Stennis on this map for training!

Any chance you can upload those VF-31 Tomcatters skins gents? I'm a fan of VF-31 and would love to have any skins you guys make. THANKS! -
DCS playback not working with F14?
Harley Davidson replied to Harley Davidson's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
yes Me too, thats why I asked! -
I've tried to replay some flights with the F-14 and its not in sync with what happened on the flight. Just wondering if its the F-14 module or something with DCS. Has anyone had an accurate playback on flights with the F14, or is it just me?

Hello HB, When can we expect the f-14 for stable 2.5?

Brining up E bracket for carrier landing
Harley Davidson replied to Harley Davidson's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Thanks Gents! What a great community! I didn't even get slagged for being lazy!! Thanks! -
Just been trying out the "Cat" and have done a few landings on the carrier to great success but for the life of me I can't figure out how to bring up the E bracket like I get in the Hornet. Anyone? What is the proper way to set up for carrier landing? I've watched a few youtube videos but they don't describe what buttons to select for manual wing sweep or E bracket. Yes, I really need to study the manual but I'm just seeing how she flys!

Humm... I've just learned to shoot above the MiG and let him fly through my tracers.. this works for me. I don't know but the bug that gets me is when the sights disappear when u get close! needs to be fixed!

Its funny how this is a flight sim and there are no Pilots in willys jeeps or ground crew with bomb carts/ammo carts etc. for the different eras from WWII, Korea, Vietnam and modern flight scenarios. Airfield support vehicles would be a welcome addition!!!

I was on around 3:30 till 5:00 PST last night, I'll check again tonight, cheers

Yes! I totally agree! Oh well...Its better than nothing though. I really like the MiG-15, much fun to fly and I can really tell the difference between a human player and AI. I tried a MiG -15 against an "Good to Excellent" Mig-15 AI and have the same frustrations as I do with a Sabre!!! So its not the MiG at all
-
I think most of the issues that are attributed to the MiG 15 in DCS are due to players flying against AI. The MiG is just about perfect or pretty close in the game... It really doesn't need anything. We need to remember that flying against AI will be tough due to the fact that they don't have the near stalls over the top and don't slow down due to being at the edge of the envelope. AI also are able to predict the players every move and can counter it perfectly.... No biggie. Flying against the human player in a MiG is way better as they have to "think, plan and maneuver". Just a few thing that I've noticed on the Sabre is I actually loose speed in a dive as I'm barrel rolling or turning... just odd.. It also likes to hover around 200-230knts in a turn and is really sluggish when trying to accelerate from that speed...... I tried it with both fuel tanks on and full.... there is not much difference.. try it! I know we get wrapped up in what happened in history with the stats and stuff but ALL the pilots we fly against in MiGs with be Honchos... There are guys that have been flying for many years flying the MiGs and if I get a kill against a human player(Honcho) in a MiG... I have defiantly done something right! I'm not sure why Belsimtek needs to keep some of the issues with the Sabre the same, I can go back to 2015 to find threads asking for a few tweaks to acceleration, guns shooting the way they should and the assisted sights being tweaked... Not much but closer to the realistic equivalent. But there you go... we can always hope right?

"A g-suit, or the more accurately named anti-g suit, is a flight suit worn by aviators and astronauts who are subject to high levels of acceleration force (g). It is designed to prevent a black-out and g-LOC (g-induced loss of consciousness) caused by the blood pooling in the lower part of the body when under acceleration, thus depriving the brain of blood.[1] Black-out and g-LOC has caused a number of fatal aircraft accidents". Sorry but I strongly disagree, The G suit was used to prevent black out a high G, thats why they are still used today even though there is no need for 8 sorties a day in time of peace. As for balance, I never even suggested balance. I wouldn't want that in DCS... It would make it unrealistic. I just know that the Sabre is "Down tuned" in a few areas for some strange reason. ie: how bad the 50 cals perform when there is actual dogfight camera footage that shows they are not correct.... that is not propaganda... Also the gun sight on the Sabre.. If it was not that great, the Soviets wouldn't have had their panties in a knot trying to find out how they were made and recreating the sight for their own aircraft....
-
To make the Sabre great there just needs to be a little more climb or power, not as much as the MiG but closer, guns need to be able to shoot straighter and the gun sight needs to be a little more accurate. If we had that the match up would be awesome.

Haven't seen anyone on teamspeak... What is your schedule? I usually come on around 3pm to 7pm to check if anyone is on.

How do you all think the MIG-15 Performs?
Harley Davidson replied to Harley Davidson's topic in DCS: MiG-15bis
I've had the module for about 3 years and have flown it a bit. awesome aircraft. I've just been honing my skills with it again. But, there is just something about the Sabre... it handles like a stiletto compared to the MiG. Both are just tons of fun to fly... Really helps improve dogfighting skills in any aircraft. -
I've had this problem and yes, set throttle at around 80% to 70% when in cruise, adjust trim... it won't be perfect but u can get almost hands off.. just give the stick a nudge to level and re trim as needed. It needs constant pilot input tho.
-
I just wanted to ask how everyone thinks the MIG performs in DCS.. It seems like most people are satisfied with the gunnery, handling characteristics and power. I've flown it myself but not a lot as I'm a huge Sabre fan being Canadian.. I've decided to try and use the 15 a but more so I can go OPFOR when there are too many Sabre pilots. Are you all satisfied with the performance? anything need changing or tweaking?
-
Believe me... I'm NOT asking for the Sabre to dominate in anyway because I'll be flying the Mig-15 too as I have the module... I'm just asking for the realistic pros and cons being correctly modeled. Both aircraft have their strengths and weaknesses.. this is what makes them fun to fly and even harder to master...
