  1. I'm in! I bet I miss the first Amazon go around?
  2. Thanks for the update Harry!
  3. Not Me. I would love to purchase the new style grips.
  4. I'm only interested in the Highest rez / clearest optic HMD possible -( in a consumer price range) At this point I won't even look at a HMD with less rez than the Reverb. In my mind, the HP has already made them obsolete. If you don't have the needed hardware, I understand. Waiting for a Reverb.............................
  5. Yeah my GPU is a 3 fan air cooled model. CPU will be AIO
  6. My hardware has arrived! The last of the parts came in today - I9 - 2080TI - 3200 32gb memory. That small Newegg box cost me $2000.00 alone. I still feel kinda ill........... I have not bought the case yet! Being this will be a VR only computer only for a motion cockpit, I would like to do something really different. I have a rolling metal server cabinet that hold all the motion electronics, and the compute case will set on top. I thought it would be cool to go with something bizarre like this thing: Would this be a bad idea for a I9 2080 TI rig?
  7. Has there be any mention of a prescription lens holder for the Reverb?
  8. Agreed. Real flight controls, with hand tracking of some sort for button / knobs is the way.
  9. Thanks, I'm ordering the second half of the parts today. I should have a I9 9900K / 2080TI system ready to roll after next weekend. I still need some thermal paste?
  10. Great! Start by digging into this long thread. Lots of good stuff. https://www.racedepartment.com/threads/the-simfeedback-ac-diy-motion-simulator-thread.159524/
  11. Thanks guy's I have started purchasing. So it begins! About Ram - 2 stick or 4 sticks? Does it matter? Powersupply - Now looking at this one. thoughts? https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817438062
  12. Cool. I have everything but have been dragging my feet on the build. My current computer will not support my Pimax for the visuals, so thats a key parts that needs sorting. I've just started buying parts for a I-9 9900K / 2080TI build.
  13. Slaw posts are always better with pictures!:)
  14. Don, You have me looking at bigger cases, but I don't want too big. This is my current favorite. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07J63FBZJ/ref=psdc_572238_t4_B077232WC2
  15. Updated the cooler link! Would it be worth dropping down to the I7 9700K to save $100, and extra heat? I understand for VR / Gaming, the performance is the same?

Looks like the total will be just a little less than the Prebuilt. It's alot of money. I hope the Ryzen Zen 2 release doesn't make it a poor choice. Sould I wait on the AMD final anouncement / Pricing??????
  17. Thanks for the update. Your doing awesome work! Keep fine tuning and hopefully we will have more DCS guys jump in. Guys, as a reminder, this DIY motion platform can be built for around $2000 ( + cockpit) , and some feel it's even better than a $15,000.00 D-Box motion system. It only requires basic DIY skills and simple basic tools. A website has been setup with easy to follow build steps, buying lists, how to videos, everything you need. The big focus has been racing which it is fantastic at. However, it has now enter the world of flight with the DCS support HarryHarry has added. Hopefully someone adds support for X-plane soon. Its only a matter of time. https://opensfx.com/2019/02/20/welcome-to-our-new-site/ And here's a video showing what kinda movement is possible. Watch the whole thing. Especially from the middle to the end!
  18. All good stuff. Thanks! maybe this could be fun after all? Yes - 32GBs DDR4s. 3200MHz is of the list. Anyone want to recommend a actual product for this? I think Have decided on a case, and I'm still looking at the first 2080 TI I posted. Heara the list so far. Feel free to recommend options 1 Case - https://www.amazon.com/Lian-Li-PC-O11DX-Tempered-Computer/dp/B07F2R5TFQ/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=Lian+Li+PC-O11DX+011&qid=1556385997&s=electronics&sr=1-1 2 Video card - https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814932064&ignorebbr=1 3. 19. I guess I'll put together a list and start buying. I haven't researched since I built this last one. I'm not up to speed and current choices and have no idea what to choose. Waht a PITA this is going to be! I will start with the GPU. I'm looking for the cheapest 2080TI I can get until the next gen GPUs come along, unless there isn't some known issue. your reason why I shouldn't? I know knowing about different model 2080TI's and why there would be any difference? Can someone explain? I'm about to buy this one. I'm in the US. No VAT or state taxes and free shipping. Someone stop me if this is a bad idea. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814932064&ignorebbr=1 Edit : and here is one even cheaper. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814932079&Description=2080%20ti&cm_re=2080_ti-_-14-932-079-_-Product THen next up will be the case /Motherboard.
  20. OK then. Some responses thanks! Yes I know my current rig is worthless for current purpose, but it was fine when the rift was released! For the Pimx - Not so much Here's what I decided: I want a I9 -9900, 32 MB ram good ram ,1TB SSD, Can I built a better PC for much less than price as that pre built? If so, anyone willing to help pick out a water cooler, MB, ram, etc? I found a cheaper 2080 TI. Any reason not to get it? ( considering I want good bang for the buck! to leave room for a future upgrade) https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814932064
  21. Huh? Why did you delete your post? What does sniped by OP mean? Anyway, doesn't seem to be much comment. I thought you sim guys were the gaming PC experts and would have a lot to say? At this point I guess I just to buy the stuff and not think about it. I am deciding whether to build or buy already built. I have a lot to do to finish the cockpit, and don't really feel like yet another research / acquire / build project. Getting burnt out!
  22. OR I could just do this? https://www.amazon.com/Stratos-i9-9900K-GeForce-Windows-Computer/dp/B07HRV4G8T/ref=sr_1_2_sspa?keywords=RTX+2080+Ti&qid=1556330906&s=electronics&sr=1-2-spons&psc=1 I built my last computer, but I'm no expert builder and had issue to work out. Could I do ,any better building? That looks pretty TOTL to me? That would allow me to sell my current computer + Rift and make some money back?
  23. Guys, I need help! I'm just frozen in place, and have been for 6 months. I've had a Pimax 5K+ for months now, that is unused because of my current VR computer. I have to do something but I keep hearing that now is the worst time to upgrade. Here's my situation. MY Current VR computer was built to original rift recommendations: I5 4690K, 8gb memory, 970 card. I have a barely tested / used 5K+ getting as low as 3 FPS in some games Looking at adding a HP reverb to the mix I'm soon finishing a new multipurpose 8020 racing / flight cockpit with transducers, and 4 D-box style platform movers. Complete with all Virpil / Slaw gear. I still lack the computer but I'm lost as how to proceed. I'm told I should hold off on the MB / CPU as a whole new faster bus system is soon to drop, so a current expensive I7 / I9 9000+ processor system will soon be obsolete. I know thing will always change, but this is supposed to be significant. I also need a GPU, but the current 2080 TI is a big disappointment in the cost / performance relationship, I would like to get a 2080 to scrape by until something better comes / OR ATI adds competition, BUT I understand DCS struggles even with the 2080TI. A DCS Update is coming but will it be enough for a 2080 + a Pimax or HP Reverb? I understand tht DCS also needs top CPU performance! Do I upgrade the system even with a buss change coming? Do I go all the way to the I9 9000 + chips plus all the other stuff for it? If so how much do I reuse from this current 3 year old VR computer, or start from scratch once again? Any recommendations? I'm not afraid to spent big on hobbies, but I don't like feeling exploited, or receive poor value for my hard earned cash Lost :helpsmilie:
