HDR with a 'D' like Dynamic for DCS 1.2.4
epokha replied to PeterP's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
I didn't notice if I was pulling negative G or not. I'll watch out for that next time. -
This thread should still be in DCS: Wishlist because the problem is not having the 'skip to next mission' button. I don't presume to get to the next mission, even when you do everything right you cant take for granted you get to the next mission, there is always something that goes wrong. Thats a problem with DCS: World itself not simply just how the missions are made.

Well thats the 4th time I've play the first mission in SU-25A Cold War Warrior (not to mention all the times I've played it months and years before). Always run out of weapons. I've overflown the waypoints, nothing. My wingman is useless, I can't get him to attack the convoy more than once before he goes off and does something stupid. 'Mission and rejoin' does nothing, I can't get him to attack individual targets. There is a four ship SU-25A flight attacking one artillery position, yet only 2 are assigned to attack the convoy? How can I take out 10+ leopard 2s plus all the other vehicles in the convoy by myself? This is the problem. If you recorded how many times people have played missions 75% of the time it would be the same missions, over and over again. In the end you lose interest and play another campaign, only to have the same thing happen again. If you can't pass the first mission in the campaign, how many missions does the SU-25A come with? 3? Being able to skip the missions would fix this frustration. DCS is great, but its not good enough to make up for playing the same mission over and over again, where is the fun in that?

HDR with a 'D' like Dynamic for DCS 1.2.4

I get a strange thing with this mod in 1.2.7 I see a red flash then everything goes darkish for about 15 seconds. After that it will slowly go back to normal. Just a minor thing, but strange. Like the pilot is having a acid flashback or something. -
A appreciate mission designers can do what they want to do. But not having instant mission success (IL2 had it) or no 'skip to next mission' is plainly a limitation of DCS:World itself especially when so often something is broken in the mission.

Can we stop using a simple trigger to toggle whether you have passed the mission or not? Its unrealistic and annoying! I'm sick of running out of weapons with one vehicle or aircraft thats bugged out remaining, RTB and then having to replay the mission again (which can take upto an hour or more). It breaks the immersion when you are taking part in a massive campaign and then everything stops just for you so you can travel back in time to replay the mission. I understand with some campaigns they are very story focused so you might not be able to do that. But in campaigns where you take part in a massive action like Cold War Warrior or Oil War as long as you hit some of your objectives (I don't care if instant mission success) and get to base alive it should keep going. Sure if you miss most of everything you could be warned then eventually you fail the campaign that is fine - there's your motivation for getting your objectives completed. I guess without having a proper mission debriefing you can't do that? There is another wish of mine, an actual debriefing! If you had a proper debriefing even with out a totally dynamic campaign it would make a world of difference. At the very least can we have a skip to next mission button? Then if we encounter a broken mission we can skip it. Thank you for an awesome sim.

There should be a "Skip to next mission" button if we can't find a way to get the missions behaving properly.

Hmm, just passed that one myself not long ago and it worked ok. Triggers not working in missions really lets DCS down. I just did the 2nd mission after that in Fortress Mozdok campaign... killed 3 F-16s no mission success. Can we have a rule that if you partially complete the objectives it goes to the next mission in the campaign? After shooting 3 F-16's down and the rest bugging out then successfully landing I shouldn't have to play that mission again. Very unrealistic, not to mention annoying. I tend to lose interest having to replay missions all the time. The best thing about F16:AF's dynamic campaign is that you dont have mission success everything 100% of the time, as long as you get home its OK.

Bump. This issue is still occurring, I have managed to get it under control (Just) which was impossible before this update in 1.2.7 but its like 2 out of 10 starts. Is there nothing that can be done? Hot start on the ground in instant action? I would just like to play those missions (lazy).

I'm not saying that you don't need to add collective at the start, its just you shouldn't need to change it once you have the right setting in place, your better off focusing on the attitude with the cyclic to make minor adjustments.
-
Head tracking certainly helps. Looking down while your taxiing and hovering is most useful. But having enough FPS is key to smooth control. You can get away with a lower FPS in the planes but not in the huey.
-
Looking at your sig. Its your lack of SSD thats holding things up. Your best off getting a SSD first and see how things go. That improves stuttering a huge amount. Cockpit res. is for the MFD's. Anything over 512 is overkill for 1920x1080 imho. Your video card isn't that old so I wouldn't upgrade it. But its definitely in the mid-range for performance.
-
You need the extra power when you enter the bank. But once that's set its easier to maintain altitude/attitude with the cyclic then trying to do it with the collective. At least it is with my setup.
-
I'm no expert... But I just learnt the method of only using the rudder for yaw and then pulling back on the cyclic to maintain the attitude/altitude. The bank angle maintains the turn. Like in the training manual that was posted (http://www.tc.gc.ca/eng/civilaviation/publications/tp9982-exercise6-975.htm). I can get it to work perfectly with no speed loss, much easier to maintain then juggling the collective and rudder pedals. Works upto 40-50 degrees after that you get low RPM warning at higher speeds..

If it was cheap it would be ok but its not. The monitor clip shits me. Monopolies are never good. Rift will make it it all better.

My Track IR is held together with tape so I need something more reliable :P
-
Thank you sir :)

How? With Track IR?

Bump, there needs to be a way to control flexi sight/gunners with mouse. Just like arma

Here's the link to the guide. It will look strange until you account for dpi. http://www.kegetys.fi/forum/index.php?topic=2966.0 Give it a try and post out your info like i did in my thread. I haven't managed to figure out the window starting half way across the screen (in windowed mode only), we'll figure it out. Make sure aero is left on (in DCS and in the soft th config file keepComposition=1) if your having problems using the interface when testing in game.

Hi, I'm running a triplehead setup with SoftTH. For extra FPS I switched to windowed mode, but the window doesnt start until half way across my first screen. Everything works fine in fullscreen. Anyone know how to fix this?
-
Ok, i got it working. I was put the information in wrong :) Last two numbers in SoureRect should be different for my setup
-
Thanks for the reply. I need to compensate for the different dpi of the screens so thats why I have to mess around with virtual pixels. Just using the SoftTH tool, the results dont line up enough to be playable with my setup.

Hi Everyone, I finally bought another videocard to get my 3 monitors going in landscape. I've been using this guide "How to properly setup multiple monitors in SoftTH" http://www.kegetys.fi/forum/index.php?topic=2966.0. I'd post in the SoftTH forum, but It seems a bit dead at the moment. *Hits head against keyboard* Can someone help me check my numbers. I'm not sure where i've gone wrong. According to my calculations these numbers should add up. From left to right 1360x768 1920x1080 1440x900 Physical width: 50cm + 54.9 + 41.7 = 57.716 inches x 96 = 5540 virtual pixels The monitors are lined up at the bottom. I'm getting the error message (SoftTH message window): "Head 1: sourceRect: (3994x0-5804x1008) Smiley is 8. outside render surface (5840x1080)." Heres the information I gathered according to the guide: 50cm + 54.9cm + 41.7cm = 57.716 inches x 96 = 5540 A) Horizontal resolution primary monitor: 1920 px B) Vertical resolution primary monitor: 1080 px C) Width viewport: 5540 px (step 2) D) Height viewport: 1080 px (vertical resolution primary monitor) E) Virtual width left outer monitor: 1810 px (step 3) F) Virtual height left outer monitor: 1008 px (step 3) G) Virtual width right outer monitor: 1546 px (step 3) H) Virtual height right outer monitor: 960 px (step 3) I) Virtual width bezel #1: 132 px (step 4) J) Virtual width bezel #2 132 px (step 4) my SoftTH config (Head 2 being left most monitor): [main] renderResolution=5540x1080 nonlocalFormat=RGB16D keepComposition=0 smoothing=1 debugD3D=0 zClear=1 vsync=0 tripleBuffer=0 screenshotFormat=jpg dllPathD3D9=auto dllPathDXGI=auto dllPathD3D11=auto [head_primary] sourceRect=1942,0,1920,1080 screenMode=1920x1080 [head_1] ; Autodetected as \\.\DISPLAY4 at ATI Radeon HD 5800 Series devID=1 sourceRect=3994,0,1810,1008 transportResolution=1440x900 transportMethod=auto noSync=0 fpsLimit=0 [head_2] ; Autodetected as \\.\DISPLAY6 at ATI Radeon HD 5400 Series devID=2 sourceRect=0,0,1810,1008 transportResolution=1360x768 transportMethod=auto noSync=0 fpsLimit=0 Any ideas? thanks all
