Ok, serious problems already, cannot play instant action missions for both A10-C and FC3 beta. I get a 'DCS world is not responding' message, then a crash and then I see the Debriefing screen, as if the mission has actually been played by me, and have tried many times. Briefly tried a SU-27 airborne start 'create quick mission', same 'DCS world is not responding' crash to debriefing, though have only tried this a few times as of yet. Can Confirm that DCS world version now reads 1.2.3.9871 in bottom splash screen corner. I downloaded new FC3 module first and confirm it reads FC3 beta 1.2.3 now. Also downloaded A10C new module, confirm same version of 1.2.3. Any thoughts? Not happy atm, lol. I have not been asked for keys with either yet, wonder if that is part of the problem? (I have them, obviously, is there a way I can manually start up the activation thing again and enter them if it is necessary?) EDIT: I also own BS2 and will try this too, will report back. EDIT 2: DISREGARD PREVIOUS COMMENTS. The problem is identified, I was running a two monitor setup for MFCD's etc......and the 'Options' for monitor setup had returned to default after new installation. Ok now, can play at least on one screen. Two monitor res however in options does not seem to be auto calculated anymore? Will try reboot. Rgr Dragon will post in Bug section in future, thanks.

Almost downloaded now, looking forward to it! :) However, would I need to backup my HOTAS etc inputs if they are wiped out, and could someone remind me how to do this please? I think its something to do with a 'config' or 'input' folder somewhere, but memory is hazy. Don't think I could face having to remap everything for each aircraft again if that is the case lol.....but if not, all is well. Thanks for any help. :)

And they were so cruel.........I salute you bogusheadbox lol. I used use kens program years ago on XP, it was good and no problems at all. Anything it shuts down is temporary as you say, and it didnt harm a thing. Will check this out, thanks for info....KEN IS YOUR FRIEND, lol.....I trust him anyway :thumbup: (and no I'm not getting payed hehe....FSAutostart was freeware anyway....Long live freeware!)

Ah, I see Kuky, thanks for the info. I had found it strange that lock on no longer runs vsync too and had assumed it was the card (previously used Nvidia with XP Pro). Apparently there is a beta version of ATT (ATI Tray Tools) which is able to force it in applications, I will try to find it and see if it will work in black shark.......Heres hoping. Its a big immersion killer for me seeing the coptor come apart if i make a quick movement with my head (a lot if its getting hairy and need a lock quick with the HMTD) I use Trackir4 pro too Mastiff, do you use heavy smoothing settings? I tried that and it helps a little, but I dont see how you are getting no tearing at all? I love having a quick look around en route to way/steerpoints, and I have it set to fairly "Hawkish" responsive setting being used to quick 6 checks in fighters. Obviously not really needed here. Toned it down a little, but I'll do some more work on it. I think a dual boot is in order.......with consequent loss of FPS on XP it would seem. Never done a O/S install on a partition before....would I have to install anti-virus software again etc on that Partition, or is my computer still protected with it being on the other? I wouldnt think it would be, but what do I know lol.....Tech caveman here :huh: Would it be correct to say that the increased FPS in Vista is soley due to vsync being impossible to enable then? I hope they can fix this in their patches somehow, not sure if its possible though.

So it is impossible to get vsync, and I have to watch the coptor and basically everything get split in half every time I turn my head with the trackir?? WHHAAAA??? Is this the case with Nvidia as well? If thats true, then GAWD........:shocking: that sucks big time......... Thanks for help anyhoo .

Well I see that at least I am not alone lol, its very annoying.......Think I will go back to Nvidia next card but maybe its just a simple driver version thing? Have you tried different driver versions Sobek?

Thanks for reply mustang, do you mean I have to uninstall CCC for this to work? There is a lot of compatibility tweak boxes to tick and such like in the global configurations options in set up, one is for forcing recognition of GDDR5 memory, but only for (QUOTE) "only for non standard HD4870!" (END QUOTE). Not sure what he means by this? Does the X2 count as "non standard" and should I tick it? Seems like it is non standard I suppose? Never heard of this before first ATI card, though I have heard of a thing called Riva Tuner, I will give this a try and hopefully there is a solution.

Hi people, I have had the sim downloaded for a week or so and I'm really enjoying it.....getting to grips now with trim as I didn't realise the importance of doing it regularly and I am now actually flying and controlling the thing instead of fighting it, which was very frustrating at first! Patience is indeed a virtue, first ever helo sim and I am now a confirmed fan :) As the title says however, I am unable to force Vsync on my Palit 4870X2, with Catalyst drivers V. 8.12, despite having the option forced in the CCC. This also occurs with Lock on:Flaming Cliffs V.1.12b which I dusted down to check. Vsync works fine with other games and flight sims, so I am assuming it is not a problem with the card, but maybe a driver version issue? I have tried every settings combination I can think of, including "Catalyst AI" etc as well as altering the graphics config file "MaxFps= 60; but it does not work and limit it to that! Also disabling sidebar/Aero. That said, when I downloaded it, I got a "Direct X" error message when it tried to install Direct X, but since I already had the latest version of it installed I didn't see it as a problem? I am running VIsta 64 bit, Corei7 940/P6T Deluxe......My first "high end" system ever as I have never been able to afford them in the past, but the ship has finally come in :). Ironically though, I'm getting more grief lol. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as having the image constantly tearing is a big problem for me, it looks awful and can be very confusing. Hopefully someone knows a driver version that works well with this card, or some other solution? Thanks Kindly :) (PS I was careful to alter Config with Notepad++)

Rgr that mike mate, just did it and set to core OO and O1, definite big improvement (by "default" was set to run on all cores, the 4 "virtual" ones included) but when I restart it does not seem to save the setting. Maybe I need that Prioaff thing I've heard of or similar (only had this corei7 since late Nov and new to multi-core). I am also having trouble setting Vsync with the ATI 4870X2, I force it to always on in Catalyst settings yet I still get tearing. The setup options I have tried are both 1024 every frame and 1024 for cockpit res. Any suggestions? (First ATI card too, lifelong NVIDIA customer) First impressions, looks great! Will start the FAM training etc tonight and get the basics down. Never tried a Helicoptor sim before but have been "flying" sims for years, theres a lot to take in!.:)

All is now well and in full screen glory........Though a trip to the Opticians is definitely in order!!! Hehehe. Thanks guys. And yes, no doubt I will return :thumbup:

Hahahaha yes I do feel silly, VERY!!:lol: I did not even notice the orange Icon as it was put in the very top corner of my 24 inch monitor and I have a very orange "Sunset" desktop background! lol :doh: Thanks very much for the quick replys people, I will see if I can now play in full screen mode though.

Hi there people, Ok I bought and downloaded DCS Black Shark yesterday afternoon, but was shocked to find that it was only playable online? 50 bucks for an incomplete game? I think the description "online version of black shark" is very misleading and ambiguous, and took it to mean the full game downloadable online version. I assume there is no way to play offline? Learning about it looks demanding enough without being shot at (though I think most would choose co-ops in helis) Ah well. To make me more miserable, I can't even play it full screen....It is "windowed" and appears to be paused (a pause symbol flashes in corner). I have no visible way of changing graphics options/resolution, HOTAS config or indeed anything apart from server options! :( In the manual there are a lot more options available on the start screen, have I had a bad download or something? All I see is 3 choices, Server, Client and mulitplayer "options" which is only connection speed as it turns out and of course "exit". To say I am dissapointed is an understatement :cry:. I have tried with the desktop exe. icon to use normal, maximised and minimised, but it is always windowed. My O/S is Vista 64 bit, but apparently you can run it well on this? ( I even tried disabling "Aero" and sidebar, is there something I am missing? I do not run "Newview" the IL-2 Joystick config program which I hear can cause problems) Any help would be greatly appreciated and save me from pulling whats left of my hair out lol, thanks kindly.
