  1. DCS: A10 will introduce "battlefield commanders" though. I imagine it could get to be very interesting having someone with an overview of the theatre online to be able to assign waypoints or whatever and get friendly fighters to better provide CAP to protect the mud movers.
  2. Hmm, well I figured you guys had different staff capable of working on slightly different projects concurrently. Did development of the A-10 module cease while FC 2 was being worked on?
  3. I don't get what the big deal is. I would even pay to have just the multiplayer assets ported over. Call it FC 2.5mp. :music_whistling:
  4. What? Why? I thought everything was getting upgraded... Is it really so hard to port things over? I thought the engine was designed to be upgraded. They always said DCS would be continually evolving. No sense leaving good stuff behind... :(
  5. You're taking what I posted the wrong way. There was no satisfaction to be taken from any of the events involving death in ANY of these videos personally. Experiencing satisfaction out of the events themselves was NOT my intention for sharing or viewing these videos at all. I simply have an interest in viewing REAL A-10 videos, and that may very well include the good, the bad, and the ugly. I meant no offense by my posting and I take no offense from yours as I understand your position. Please don't misrepresent mine.
  6. Blue on blue incident. Part I Part II
  7. I was just about to post about this. I have the exact same issue. Q6600 @ 2.4 ATI 5770 1GB 4 GB DDR2-800 RAM 2048x1152 native res Vista 64 SP2 Catalyst 10.9
  8. Same problem here. Must be related to ATI. Black flickering shadows seemingly on the roof tops of buildings when flying over them. I'm running low-medium settings. I have a 5770 1GB Q6600 @ 2.4 4GB DDR2-800 Windows Vista SP2 Catalyst 10.9
  9. No, it's actually texture aliasing that I'm talking about. Super sampling clears it, but kills performance. Raising the LOD Adjustment to 1 in ATI Tray Tools does seem to help a bit (any higher, and the texture quality becomes awful.) nVidia has a negative lod clamp option in its drivers and an AA option that is better than multisampling but not as taxing as supersampling which made texture aliasing non-existant on my old 9600gt. You can see the aliasing most at low and medium altitudes. City textures appear to "shimmer".
  10. My guess is no. Unless you bought the Steam version, you can't use the Steam version.
  11. Great! It would be nice to have FC2 on Steam too.
  12. I got a new ATI 5770 1GB recently going from a 9600gt 512. Performance has been improved quite a bit, but I seem to be struggling with a fair amount of shimmering on the terrain. I remember with nVidia I used nHancer to set the AA level to something that removed the shimmering without killing performance. Now with ATI, I have ATI Tray Tools, but the only way to remove the shimmering is to engage full supersampling which really hurts performance even on this card. Am I missing something? What settings do you guys with similiar cards use? Should I just put up with the shimmering or what?
  13. I deinstalled and reinstalled over a fresh copy just to be safe. Didn't notice any difference, but oh well, it's running well, can't complain. Someone did specifically say that the updater simply wouldn't update certain files if they didn't have the correct time stamps. So while things might appear to run fine after installing over 1.0.1 now, you just never know what headaches might await.
  14. I took this to mean that it was okay to install over 1.0.1 which I did and I am having no problems so far. What gives? Make things clear. Why shouldn't we install over previous versions like with every other patch on earth?!
  15. Oh, awesome! Я очень люблю русский язык. :)
  16. Why does it have to be Fridays?! Just let it come out the moment it is done.
  17. Yes, early Friday morning Moscow time, so like late thursday night for us in the west. :)
  18. Chuck Norris once brought down a Mig just by looking at it.
  19. You're forgetting option 4: You post an estimated release date and release it a day earlier bug free and flawless. Everybody's happy. :)
  20. I'm thinking things will be more lively when the compatability patch is out. :music_whistling:
  21. Uhm... Wow!
  22. Awesome. Flying the Black Shark is about to get much more dangerous.
  23. ED should sell FC2 as a bundle with LOMAC then, so that it's clear where they can get it. The more the merrier you know.
  24. It simply increases the chances of having a catastrophic engine failure during take-off. It becomes a bit of a nuisance after a while. Best to keep it low, or off completely IMHO.
  25. I think for legal purposes due to something with Ubisoft, FC2 needs to make sure LOMAC is installed in order to install itself. It doesn't actually use any of the files from your LOMAC installation. It just wants to make sure it's there. Uninstalling LOMAC after FC2 is installed is not a problem.
