Yes sir that is the one. Please excuse my messy desk :) It does have a new home. I received quite a few messages and went with the first one that needs a HOTAS. Zius, it's my pleasure. People here have always been eager and willing to help me out. I don't have any DCS knowledge to share but what I do have I freely give with a smile. Great day to all. P.s. To the DCSer receiving the set-up, if you ever shoot me down with it, I'm taking it back. HEHEHEHE :)

Good afternoon. I have a Thrustmaster FCS with the stick, throttle and pedals. They have less than 20 hours total when the pedals started acting up. I used that as an excuse to buy a Warthog system and new pedals :). So I have boxed the originals up and if anyone is coming into DCS and could use a HOTAS I will send them for free. My only ask is that it be someone who doesn't already have a HOTAS. I would rather send it to someone who does not so this will be an improvement to their experience. If you are interested just shoot me a pm. Again free, no strings attached, no hitches in the giddy-up. :pilotfly:

Good afternoon all. The new rig is in and set up and everything seems to be working well this time. So I am asking if any squadrons out there have any open spots. I flew Warbirds and worked with IEN for many years and the community aspect of flying jointly is somethgin I have always enjoyed. I brought this up 3.5 weeks ago but then my computer went down and I was offline for several week. So if any squadrons have a post for an old guy who really enjoys flying whether it's a serious midnight deep strike or a demolition derby in Dubai, let me konw, I'd love the opportunity to apply and or try out. Most of my fly time is from 8am until 2pm CST US. I currently have F-18, Mirage, flaming cliffs and all the maps. I am fighting the urge to order the AV8 or F-14 but I know I will lose that fight eventually. :) Thanks and happy lawndarting

Will be delivered thus afternoon. Any advice on the set-up?

Okey DOkey Trackir guys and gals. I have a question. I ordered on AP the Track IR set up but there is also a Trackir 5 opticalbudle that includes head trackclip pro. Is that the better option? I know it's a stupid question but I have zero experience with track ir.

Okey Dokey. Track ir ordered on Amazon Prime for Monday delivery. Guess I'll go watch some set up videos.I know I will end up using both. I do really enjoy the vr, it is so much better than I thought it would be, but the details and Mark 1 eyeball abilities you lose is massive. Thanks all.

I am so torn... My original computer had some issues and it never did run correctly. I did most of my flying (98%) or more in VR because of the functionality and wow factor. I had to return the other rig and the new one arrived yesterday. I was finally able to spool up DCS in 4K on my 55 inch TV and my jaw hit the floor. It is beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. Spotting targets many miles further out, clarity of HUD and instruments, you name it. It is an amazing experience. So now I am so torn.... VR for the functionality or Pancake for the absolute visual spectacle that is DCS. Dangit maybe I need to try Track IR as the middle ground.

OK I had a total computer melt down but the new rig arrived last night and is all set-up. I haven't been lazy, I have read many threads and articles before bothering y'all but I am stumped. I am tied into a 4k TV at the moment as a monitor, I spend most play time in vr, but there is a hitch in the giddy-up. I can't get the TV resolution to go above 1080p because it states that is the so that is also the highest resolution my GPU will give me. The TV menu manual states: "HDMI Input Signal Support 4K, 1080/24p, 1080/60p, 1080i, 720p, 480p, 480i" but the 4k I can't get to come active from the pc. It's like I'm stuck in some little loop :). Anyway it's not a huge deal, I would just like to see dcs in all of its glory if possible. Thank you tv is Sceptre w55. It's a cheapo but I bought it just for the x-box and pc.

Welp, I know it's an early test but 2 hours in with an F-18 flying around on autopilot, wel several F-18, they kept running out of JP-4..... or JP-8, whatever the electronic Navy uses, and nadda boot. Family left so now I'm settling in to fly the night away. We'll see what happens. :) Thank you all so much for taking the time to help me. An exuberant geezer: John -

We are going through the other options with no issues so far. The difficulty is that the resets, while always in DCS are random. Yesterday I flew for almost 6 hours and then while tootling away from the Georgia coast back out to sea. BAM!!! Then it reset three times in 45 minutes. There is seemingly no rhyme or reason. But we shall hunt down the wily culprit and it shall be assimilated. (Channeling my inner Borg) A patiently troubleshooting: John -

Please let me know if that's one of the ones that you guys do not recommend we can jump in the car and total back over to Fry's and pick up something else. So what would you guys recommend? There are things I'm very confident in and I'm very comfortable with pieces parts for my computer is not one of them so I openly accept and receive any guidance and wisdom you guys can give me. My son's in town just for a couple of days for Christmas and so I ordered it quickly just in case that is the issue. I'll absolutely return it if that turns out not to be the root cause. I ordered the Corsair rmx 850 X power suppliy. It was rated highly at several of the hardware web sites and I found multiple positive statements about it here on the forums. They had one that could be delivered today so I ordered it as a just to be ready. We are starting the other testing processes now that we're recomended. I'll keep everyone posted as we progress through the steps. A tentatively optomistic: John -

Okay gentlemen so here's the skinny so far. The power supply in the system is 650w. And looking around online I see that is the bare minimum recommended. I also jumped onto a couple of websites digital storm and two others and did a custom built with my specs and all of them absolutely recommended a minimum of 850 for the I-9 with the 2080ti card. To answer to somebody's questions earlier my Ram is 4 8 gig sticks its Corsair Vengeance Ram. So based on some of the recommendations and just in case, I just ordered a thousand watt power supply that will be delivered today. You just have to love Amazon Prime. There is something else I was looking at my notes. I'm a voracious Note Taker. It's a blessing and a curse, as monk would say, and one of the thing I noticed every time it happened, when the system rebooted at the bottom right corner of the screen I got a little notification box that would say the USB device you recently installed did not install correctly. I haven't installed anything new, I have thrustmaster 16000 flight set up at the rudder pedals throttle and joystick and then my Oculus Rift the two sensors in the headset, mouse and keyboard and that's all I have plugged into the USB ports but could that potentially be an an issue. I really appreciate y'all taking the time to help me. Community is wonderful. A very appreciative: John -

Thank you for the advice and guidance. I'm noting it all day and then this box-o-electronic bits and I shall do battle. I can answer a few of the questions....... I did not build the computer. Heck at my age and with a South Carolina education I can barely spell computer. We're gonna start digging now. More soon as my son is cranky this morning and wants to get it fixed :)> Thank you all again and I apologize for not posting my specs in the correct order, I'm new to this part of it. Powering down to dig into the PSU. John -
Good evening everyone. I have been really enjoying my time in DCS, but the last week and ugly "thing" has started to occur and I am hoping for some guidance. I am getting random reboots when flying DCS. No warning just a snap reboot. I have looked through the forums and I reset the ram and used HWmonitor to look at the power thingy. I only have DCS and Silent Hunter 4 on the computer and 100% of the RBs are in DCS, VR and non VR. The error in the error log is an event ID "10016": The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Launch permission for the COM Server application with CLSID Windows.SecurityCenter.WscCloudBackupProvider and APPID Unavailable to the user DESKTOP-5AO6RQP\johne SID (S-1-5-21-3614457103-1545748252-562400338-1002) from address LocalHost (Using LRPC) running in the application container Unavailable SID (Unavailable). This security permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative tool. My system specs are: i9-9900k, 32 Gig DDR 3000 RAM, 240G SSD, RTX 2080 ti 11G, TM HOTAS, Oculus VR headset. I am not trying to be a bother, I have spent several hours on the web trying to understand it but my 51 year old grey matter is not able to put the pieces together. Thank you for any guidance you can provide. A very perplexed: John

Top-o-the-morning, Thank y'all for the welcome. My desk arrived yesterday and as soon as I have it all set up and everything put back together I will take you up on those Hawg lessons Braeden. Jester I will submit an application today.... Uberick, great info and I shall look for one of the dynamic servers Saturday morning Muchas Gracias to all. Lawndart p.s. Yes the Bee Gees Svsmokey. I can't stand 'em but I've been hummin' "stayin' alive" for 40 years. I blame my wife. Clear skies and a target rich environment to all.
-
Thanks Jester. I'll give it a looksie when I get home and would love to tag along. Please don't get me wrong. I do take the flying seriously over the 4 day turkey break I logged just over 34 hours learning the F-18, SU-27 and a dabbling of the A-10. My reflexes just aren't what they used to be. My noggin is still good though. Thank you again. See ya in the funnies: Lawndart

Good afternoon everyone. I'm a crusty old guy, 51 years old, who has flown flights sims as far back as the original MSFS and I flew and CMed in Warbirds for almost 13 years. I've been away from sims for a few years based on medical challenges and real life stuff. Honestly I thought simming was dead then one day I saw a You tube video from the Reapers and was hooked. I recently ordered a new rig for the sole purpose of DCS; i9-9900, 1080ti 11gig, Rift, 32 gig ram and I grabbed the TM16000 set with the pedals. I downloaded the Persian terrain, A-10C, FC3, several campaigns and the voice attack software. Oh and I'm thinking about the Huey. Now I am reaching out to the community to see if there is a group that would be willing to let a frumpy old man tag along. I always enjoyed the social aspect of flying together in Warbirds and though I will likely dig more holes than win flying crosses, I will give it my all and laugh regardless of how pitiful my aged skills may be. I spend time at work in the evenings but will be flying typically from 800 - 1400 cst and the weekends. So just think, for the bargain basement price of zero dollars and zero cents, someone can add an asset to their group that is guaranteed to make their flying seem so much better. I'll be like the ugly guy you hung out with in High School to make yourself look studlier. and we all know chicks dig studlier*. Tally ho: Lawndart out. * The editor of this post apologizes for the use of the word "Chicks" it is not meant in an offensive manner it's more of a reflection of the poster being stuck in the 70's. We regret this leading any of you to begin humming Bee Gees or Dona Summer songs.
