  1. Same thing here. I have listened to the "J47StartIn" and "StarterLoopIn" .wav files in the F-86 directory and those sounds are definitely not heard in game.
  2. Anybody know how to accomplish this? I'm sure somebody has tried to do this. Right? :helpsmilie:
  3. I have been trying to replace the explosion effect of active ground vehicles, like the ATZ-10 or ATMZ-5, with the much bigger explosion effect of ground vehicles when they are placed as static objects. The static vehicle explosions are much more realistic for HazMat vehicles like these but I would like to be able to experience these effects when engaging moving vehicles. If this is not possible on the individual vehicle level, is there any way to edit the size and type of explosions for all of the vehicles? Also, is there any way to replace a building's crumbling or burning effect with those from another building? Such as replacing subsidiary structure D's burning effect with that of the ammunition depot's "secondary explosion" burning effect. Or another example being replacing the fuel or chemical tank's "poof" with the static ground vehicle's "BOOM!" I know there must be some way to do it I just can't quite figure it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Alex Badaglialacqua
  4. With regards to static buildings placed via the mission editor, does anybody know where I can find the .lua file necessary to adjust things like armor thickness and burn time. I have found the folders in c:/Blackshark/scripts/database like "chassis" and "vehicles" which allow me to edit the individual vehicles' .lua file but I cannot find any files allowing me to edit any of the buildings. I have also found the static.lua file in the "chassis" folder but I think this applies more to static vehicles than static buildings. Also, is it possible to edit the amount of a structure sticking out above the ground. For example, if I wanted only the very top of a "sandbox" to be visible. Any help would be greatly appreciated. 5. Beczl- Maybe you can let me in on this little secret. I have been trying to figure out a way to fly with the apache skin using the KA-50 cockpit. Can you PLEASE let me know how this can be done or at least point me in the right direction. Your help in this matter will be greatly appreciated. Thanks Alex Badaglialacqua
  6. NRG Vampire- I have been looking for a way to simply fly the KA-50 with the external apache textures. Since you have obviously been doing this for a while (since Christmas apparently) and many other people have been anxiously seeking help regarding this topic, can you provide a set of quick instructions on how to accomplish this. Thanks -Alex Badaglialacqua
  7. Got it. Your help is greatly appreciated. Alex Badaglialacqua
  8. Thanks for the quick reply RCN_Moose. I figured that was the most likely culprit and you have just confirmed it. Not a big deal. I know how quickly and easily flight sims can turn ugly on you only after, it seems, you have devoted countless hours to a project meant to improve it. I am just thankful that ED spent the time with the nasty stuff so that I wouldn't have to (For the most part). By the way, I cannot thank you enough for your skinning tutorial. My roommate is a pretty experienced CS3 user and he insists that none of his new skins would have possible were it not for your help. When he is done with this next skin we plan on posting all of them for download, so keep an eye out. Also, my buddy has been wondering if there is any way to open the CDDS files of existing paint schemes for edit. I read somewhere recently that you can use the ModMan's CDDS explorer to open them. Is this true? If so, can the .bmps then be edited and resaved as a new paint scheme? Thanks again for all of your help. Alex Badaglialacqua
  9. My buddy, the graphic design undergraduate, has FINALLY started to make skins in CS3. He has cranked out some good skins and I added one of them to my PC via the usual routine. I copied the CDDS and pasted into Bazar\ World and I added the necessary lines of data to Ka-50.skins, db_countries.lua, graphics config, and Ka-50.lua using Notepad++ as recommended. Here's the problem. In singleplayer the new skin textures load up without a problem and look great. However, when I load up one of my coop missions over our LAN, the new skin I had just flown with and had selected for both me and my roommate (client in this case) to fly with shows up on my helicopter yet his helicopter is loaded up with a different skin. We have checked, rechecked, and checked again all of the edited files on both his end and mine and everything looks good. They load up fine on his computer in singleplayer and they load up fine for me as well. It is only in multiplayer that this skin is replaced by another. The only thing I can see that is different between his setup and mine is the fact that his sequence of skin values in the Ka-50.skin file is different than mine. This is also true regarding the sequence in graphics.cfg, db_countries.lua, and Ka-50.lua. I am not sure if this would make a difference but the skin that loads in place of the wanted skin is his latest skin creation which is sequentially listed as the last entry in all of these files. It might just be a coincidence but the skin that I am trying to select for him is the last one I have added so it is listed as the last entry on my system. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Alex Badaglialacqua
  10. I have the same problem. Even just by adding one armed speedboat to a mission, when I play it, DCS will freeze when I ALT-TAB and then try to get back into the game. Weird? I hope someone can figure this out so that I can make missions without being fearful of adding a ship or boat.
  11. Thanks for your help Graywo1f. I'm thinking that it has something to do with our LAN connection because I don't seem to be hearing a lot about anybody else having this problem. Well, if you think of anything else please let me know. This is really turning out to be quite a frustrating issue. Thanks again Alex
  12. My fault for not clarifying. Sorry Yes, before saving my missions, while still within the mission editor, I usually select customize on the toolbar across the top and then enforce the mission options from there. I did use the actual button you had mentioned and it took me to the same menu and showed all of the same options enforced previously via the toolbar approach. Correct me if I am wrong but I assumed there was not a difference between the two methods because they both take me to the same menu.
  13. Thanks for the advice. I am curious about that myself as I have read about people enforcing their own settings on clients. In singleplayer all of my settings work but its only when I fly multiplayer that the settings seem to screw up. Is there a config file that you know of where I can double check the host settings?
  14. Thanks for the reply. If the button you are talking about is the same as going into "customize" on the toolbar and then selecting "mission options", I have tried every combination dealing with enforcing settings and checking the value boxes. Do you suppose it could have something to do with a host config file or administrative rights?
  15. Hello, I have seen threads pertaining to problems with the multiplayer settings yet these do not seem to illicit many replies much less a solution. The problem my buddy and I have encountered happens when flying coop missions via the LAN setup in our apartment. The trouble is that the multiplayer settings are inconsistent with the gameplay settings either of us have selected in the options menu. To test this, for example, we both selected immortal in the options menu and also selected "use these settings for every mission." A coop mission was then created and within the mission options menu, a check was placed to enforce immortal and a check was also placed in the "value" box. When I hosted the server, I was immortal and he was not. However, when he hosted the server on his system, he was now immortal and I was not. This happens regardless of whether "use these settings for every mission" is checked or unchecked as well as if a particular setting is enforced in the mission options or not. We have tried numerous combinations of settings for both the main options and individual mission options and nothing has changed. I run Black Shark on Vista Home 32bit and he uses Vista Ultimate 64bit. On both systems the game is installed in the root folder c: and both installations were "run as administrator" with UAC turned off. I did notice, however, that Vista 64bit will not allow my roommate to select "run as administrator" for DCS.exe. Not sure if this could be the culprit? Any advice regarding this irritating inability to control multiplayer settings would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Alex
