[Official] SimShaker for Aviators
MarcT-NL replied to f4l0's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Not sure about this but I think: Wheelblocking are vibrations caused a by a blocking wheel during landing / decelleration Groundroll is a standard rumble from rolling tyres, but I have that off. Ground bumps are bigger rumbles because of potholes or so. Correct me if I'm wrong. -
I noticed that with the Apache there are bindings for the Pilot as wel as for the navigator. This works extremely well ! I would very much like this in the Mosquito as well. In fact this should be the standaard for all multi-crew aircraft. As a pilot you could bind all functions for flying, but you don't have enough buttons to also bind the buttons on the radios, light-switches, antennae, etc. As a navigator you don't have to bind the airplane-controls, but you can focus on nav- and comm-things. That would be great. By the way, it would be great that if you jump over to the navigator-seat, that there would be a simple kind of autopilot. I know they didn't have autopilots back then, but they DID have 2 humans flying ! Same as in the Huey or the Gazelle. As soon as you have a human crew-member, this autopilot will be disabled.

cannot reproduce Could there be a memory leak ?
MarcT-NL replied to MarcT-NL's topic in Bugs and Problems
Yeah, I'm not too worried about an occasional BSOD. It's still Microsoft, right ? Just wondered if there is anything else I can do to improve on stability. -

AF off ? I actually don't realy know what this is, but I read everywhere that this setting has no effect on framerates. Oh, and I also read: on the Gameplay-tab you should untick Wake Turbulence because that is very CPU-intense. -

Yes. The framerate didn't get higher after I set the pagefile size, but it stays around 30-35. That is acceptable. -
The position it had when you entered the mission. I don't expect the plane to behave neutral with this button. Just to get the trim in the starting-position.

cannot reproduce Could there be a memory leak ?
MarcT-NL replied to MarcT-NL's topic in Bugs and Problems
OK, ultimate test. Started in Syria as scudhunter. Got killed. Switched to a MP server. Started in the FA-18, did a round in the Mosquito, and after that got into the Apache, with a human CP/G. This all went remarably fine for hours. No issues until that server restarted. After that I immediately got a BSOD. Logfile included here. So if you look at the log, can you see significant less stress on the memory ? That would mean that our efforts worked. Well, actually no doubt about that. I used to get a BSOD every 15 minutes. Now I can stay alive for hours. But can you see any other things I could do ? I still see a few errors in the log, but that might be expected ? dcs.log -

OK... pretty pleased so far. Flew around for about an hour. No problems. The framerate didn't get higher after I set the pagefile size, but it stays around 30-35. That is acceptable. Next I'll try something in the Syria-map, but I am already pleased. Thanks for your effort everybody. -

Yes I suppose so. When I restarted DCS it was still on 32000. I set the pagefile-size. Am giong to do a long mission now. See how it goes. -

MarcT-NL replied to MarcT-NL's topic in Bugs and Problems
OK thanks. So this is what I did this morning: Installed latest NVidia driver, turned down pre-load (however, when I look now it's back to 100000, but I'll slide it to 32000) By the way: I haven't set my pagefile yet. I will do that next but I have tested. First a very short mission: Start up from cold, fly 100mtrs, land and shut down. No problems. Next a bit longer mission: Start up from cold, attack 2 boats nearby RTB and shut down. No problems Next a longer mission. Start up, kill a boat, fly around the scenery for at least 30 minutes I'd guess, come back, land and shut down. This ALSO went fine ! So I exited DCS as a happy puppy, but upon exiting, it crashed BSOD again ! "kmode exception not handled". I found the last track where you said. This folder is filled with files by the way. Should I delete those ? So I will include the tracks I saved and the lastmissiontrack. I am going to set my pagefile now and retry. Oh, the last mission is too large to put on this forum. Get it here: https://marctelkamp.nl/LastMissionTrack.trk (14mb) tempMission.miz 01 AH-64D Start and Stop.trk -
cannot reproduce Could there be a memory leak ?
MarcT-NL replied to MarcT-NL's topic in Bugs and Problems
No, I'm still in the process of setting up the HOTAS, and learning the TSD. Haven't flown at night yet. OK, no worries, I'll turn the pre-load down. As far as I know I did't turn up the pre-load. I just used the preset VR-settings, and turned up the visible range, grass, forest visibility, a little chinmey smoke and turned down the shadows to Flat only. I set anisotropic filtering to 8, If have to figure that out, because normaly I play a mission, and at the end I can save the track. But if I get a BSOD, is the track still saved somewhere ? BTW: I use ReShade (the VRversion). So: I saw a slightly newer NVidia-driver available. So I'll first install that, and I'll set the page-size to 16GB. Then turn down my pre-load and then fly around in the Apache. Please let me know where to find the trackfile when BSOD. -

Sorry dcs.log Caucasus-map. For learning the Apache I just made a simple map with only one Apache, nice weather and 2 simple targets. -

Well that's nice. Let's just say that IF ED decides to make a trim-reset in the F5 and Mosquito and just make that one of the standard-features for every plane, just like they did in the P-51, the A-10C's and the choppers, and maybe some other planes, then you just won't use it. OK ? I wouldn't want to ruin your feel for reality. I always find it interesting that people try to oppose someones whish while they have totally no disadvantage from it.

I don't know what to do. Since the Apache I found that DCS crashes after about 15 minutes of flying. It's a Blue Screen of Death with messages like "irql not less or equal", "attempt to execute noexecute memory", "bsod system service exception", "kmode exception not handled". When I google it, most of the time it's about drivers. So I reinstalled the PC. Formatted the drives, fresh install of Win10 and all updates. Every driver I check says "this is the latest version". I re-downloaded DCS and installed it. For your laughs, I found out that the backup of my keybindings where also on the drives that I formatted. So that's gone. Never mind. I started to rebind all the bindings for the 10 planes I fly the most. That went pretty well. The PC kept on working for hours. No crashes. Today I finally got around to binding the Apache-keys. And now the crashes are back ! 15 minutes of Apache and I get a BSOD. Most of the time "irql not less or equal". I just flew more than an hour in the Mosquito. Went fine. Apache -> crash, So this is a bit of a bummer. I really looked forward to mastering the apache. First as a pilot, later as a CP/G. So now what ? Specs: Intel i7 8700k 3.7 32gb DDR4 MSI GForce RTX 2080 Gaming X 8gb 500gb SSD for Windows + another 500GB SSD for DCS Powersupply 750W (usage is not higher than 500w) HP Reverb G2 Could there be a memory leak or something ? Something that will be fixed in upcomming updates ? I guess you don't need a trackfile for this ? OR would that help ?

Yes and sometimes I just want to center it all with a push of a button.
-
Eventually there will come a time that you just don't get the trim right again. The shortest push to the left gets it left from center, the shortest push to the right gets it to the right of the center. I think all virtual planes who have a trim, need a trim-reset binding.
-
I fully understand. But the real radio had all the switches it needed. In the virtual world we just have a HOTAS, and you will just have to do with the buttons you have. Since re-pressing a selected channel already turns off that channel-button ED might as well make it that the channel is turned off.

I thought it would be nice to bind the search-light (UpDownLeftRight) of the Huey to the mini-stick on my throttle. But there don't seem to be axis' that can be assigned to that. I know it probalby can be done by editing some .LUA-files. Anybody have a bright idea ?

This ! I would very much like be able to turn this function on with either my HOTAS or else in the special options for the Huey. There is no RShift-T when I'm in VR. I can't see my keyboard.

So if I understand correctly, I could completely forget about Steam and everything Steam-related with this ? (This PC is dedicated to ONLY DCS, and some tools like Scratchpad, SRS and VoiceAttack) Specs: i7 8700k @3.7 32GB ddr4 @3000mhz MSI GeForce RTX 2080 Gaming X Trio 8G 500gb SSD m.2 HP Reverb G2 -
In this vid from Wags, @7:44 he places an E(nemy)A(rmour) on the map. This is of the type "Enemy control measures". I expected an enemy tank to be a Target. Can someone please elaborate on what the difference is between a target and a control meansure ?

In VR, If you want to push a button in the cockpit, you turn your head to it, until the mousecursor (blue+) is on the button and you press the HOTAS-button assigned to "LMB" or 'RMB". But sometimes that is not possible (I'm not an owl !) and I have to grab my physical mouse. So that works fine, but after that I have to manually put the mousecursor back to the center somewhere or I can't use it anymore with my headmovement... It would be nice if we could make the mouse return to center again. A method for centering the mousecursor might be a key-binding or a setting that will center the mousecursor after 5 secs not beeing used or something like that. There is another thing. If you want to aim your mousecursor to the button you wish to press, first the mousecursor has to be visible. You can do that by pressing the HOTAS-button assigned to LMB or RMB, but if the invisible mousecursor just happens to be at a cockpit-button at that time, you just pressed that. So another wish is that if the mousecursor is invisible (after 1 second not being used), the first press of the HOTAS-button assigned to LMB or RMB will only make the mousecursor visible. It will only execute a buttonpress if the cursor is visible. Thanks a lot.
