correct as is AGM-65E Inconsistent uncaging
MarcT-NL replied to TAIPAN_'s topic in Bugs and Problems
I am afraid that this is "Correct as is". It's descibed like this in the manual. The FA-18 (the DCS variant anyway) is loaded with functionality which screams "WHY WHY WHY does it work like this ???". But apparantly DCS thinks this is Correct as is. Who am I to disagree ? I don't know the real life FA-18. I have spoken to people who say they have flown the real one, and see thing differently, but I just don't know... -
Technically I can change the bindings yes. But actually I have no other buttons left. And also I don't want to change it. I'm used to it this way. But that makes it sound as if this a special whish just for me. It is a bug. Tell me in the real plane you can unlock the handle, put the handle to Unfold, then to lock, and then to fold again.
-
I didn't. I placed it in the bug-section.
-
That's ridiculous. This is not a whish, it's a bug. OK, OK, damaging the plane if you lock the mechanism too soon, that could be a whish. Low priority, yes. But that's not what I'm talking about. By sheer accident you can set the handle to fold when it is being locked. Resulting in folded wings and a stuck handle. I am just talking about something that would prevent the handle get stuck. Just something like "IF folded THEN allways unlock". I don't mean to get it stuck, but it's because of how the handle is bound to my HOTAS that this happens every now and then. I say it is a bug because in real life I have never heard of pilots operating the handle and going "Oops, I broke the handle again. Can I have a new jet please ?".

reported earlier ATFLIR lock and AGM-65F slew
MarcT-NL replied to 84-Simba's topic in Bugs and Problems
Yeah, I reported this half a year ago already. It was deemed "correct as is". I can't believe that they could made up something so stupid in real life, where the pilot's life actually depends on smooth working systems, but hey, what do I know ? -
And I think that the contrast-rocker in night-mode is upside down. It seems like up decreases contrast and down increases contrast... But in any case, I turn the map off nowadays. Such a shame.

Right... this is strange. I was just in the DCS Mission Editor, creating loadouts, when I saw a tickbox called "Restrict weapons"... When I tick it the loadout-preset list changes. This looks very much like the wish I proposed earlier today. This must be the fastest granted whish ever ! I looked at the DCS Manual, but I can't find what this tickbox exactly does... Could anyone explain ? Or tell me where I can find the answer ? This is very weird. I thought I had a bright idea for DCS, but it's already there it seems !

Every plane has its specifick weapons. Every pilot has his specifick preferences. So it is nice that DCS provides a way to design your own loadout-presets for each plane. But it is a bit odd that I need the mission-editor to design weapon-loadouts for my planes. It is a mission-editor, not a loadout-library-tool. I understand, that while making a mission or a campaign, the designer should be able to controll available loadouts for that mission. So indeed, it should be possible to design loadouts in the mission-editor. But when I fly on a Multi-player-server I don't want all the default loadouts (which I never use) polluting the list of my own loadouts. Even if I use the mission-editor to design all my prefered loadouts, and delete all the unwanted loadouts, I still find them mixed up with other loadouts in the rearm-screen. Why should it always depend on the mission, and why can't this be a property of the plane itself ? So my whish would be this: Make a menu-option in the mainmenu, where I can design and maintain my favourite loadout-presets (similar to that in the mission-editor) for every plane that I purchased. In the mission editor, make an option to "Restrict Loadouts". Restrict Loadouts Ticked: If this option is ticked, the planes can only have loadouts that were made available in this mission. Also while doing the mission and rearming; only the loadouts that were given by the mission-designer can be chosen. Restrict Loadouts Not Ticked: If the option is not ticked, planes can have any loadout. In the rearm-screen, the loadout-presets are shown that were made by the user. The loadouts that were made in the mission-editor are not shown. It is ok that planes come with a few loadouts made by ED. But if a user decides to delete those and create his own, than only those should be visible. Wether ticked or not ticked, the actual rearming will considder availability of the weapons on that airfield. I can understand that this is a big whish to make. It touches all planes, the mission-editor and all existing missions. Even third-party modds probably. Nevertheless, each time I rearm my plane, the sheer list of nonsense-loadouts polluting my prefered loadouts is annoying, so I thought I'd make a whish...

Hehehe ! Whoever designed the cockpit of the Mosquito should be shot as a war-criminal ! One big pile of random up-side-down-switches. LOL. Very fun to fly though. Cosy allmost ! Two questions about bombing: 1] The tailfuse is meant to be like a delayed fuse right ? So I only fuse the tail, and I can bomb from very low altitude ? If this assumption is true, is it implemented in DCS yet ? Because I keep blowing myself up while LA-bombing. 2] I could just revert to high-altitude bombing. But then my question is: how on earth can I get the bomb on target ? Where should I be aiming at ? I can't even hit a building !

I made a mission on the Channel-map with weather set to rain. I notived the droplets flying through the cockpit... (Yes, windows were closed)
-
I agree totally

OK so turning the hadle to unfold and immediately push it into lock will destroy the mechanism ? Is that true or just an assumption ? That would be an expensive mistake if the pilot would lock it too soon. I would expect that you could push the handle into lock already, but that the lockingmechanism would spring in position when the wings have unfolded completely. Anyway, the bug is that apparently you can turn the handle to fold, while it is being pushed into lock. Not when it is in locked position, but WHILE it is in transit to the locked position, resulting in folded wings and a stuck handle. That shouldn't be possible I think.
-
I suffered this bug a long time, but never could reproduce it. I finaly did and made a trackfile ! This is the problem: if your wings are folded, you can't push the handle into lock. That is correct. But if you turn the handle to Unfold, immediately push it inwards to lock, and turn it back to Fold again before the handle reaches the lock-position, you have your wings folded and locked, and nothing will unlock it again... Please make folding wings impossible while handle is in locked position, or getting into locked position. winglock.trk

reported earlier Tanker TACAN not showing range (DCS OB 2.7.9)
MarcT-NL replied to Lazerhawk's topic in Bugs and Problems
Might be correct as is. On your UFC there is a button called "Emcon". If you press that it means that your plane is not emitting anything anymore (except radar, you have to turn that off seperately). This means that your tacan goes to Transmit-mode, losing range-information. Press Emcon again, and see if the range-info returns. -
Hi, I bought this buttonbox recently. It's brandnew and works great. Just, the buttons are too heavy for my taste and so I'm selling it again. I bought it for 175 euro incl. shipping and that is also the selling price. Let me know if you are interested. On the four corners are rotary-controlers with push function. Not an axis. The four swithes on the side are mon-off-mon (they return to center) dimmension1.pdf

Thanks. I already edit a bunch of .LUA-files after eacht update. Because ED, or 3rd parties wont fix it. That's the world we live in. There is more te be gained by selling unfinished products. Owww.... now I sounds cynical again. Oh wel. Thanks very much for the code. I'll try that later.
-
Munkwolf, could you elaborate on that ? Do I just have to add these 5 lines to the default.lua, and then I can bind the switch ? Or do I need to install a mod ?
-
Hello @NineLine. After today's update (oct-20-2021) this seems to be fixed now.
-
This can't be right: So the warning-sound starts at boost 7. And the continues max boost is also 7 according to the kneepad !!! Are we supposed to listen to the warning the whole time ? Then your gear is damaged.
-
Right, and that makes sence... in real life. In DCS-life however the way it works now is this: select any channel by pushing a button from A-D. To deselect you have to either select a different channel, or the OFF button or select that same channel again. In the last case however, the channel is deselected, however the radio is not turned off. So it is not the same as selecting the off-button. My whish for this whishlist was dat re-selecting a channel would select the OFF-button. Just to save some bindings on my not-infinite HOTAS. -OR- If you realy want to stick to real life, let re-selecting a channel do nothing, as it does in real life. This goes then for all warbirds that use this type of radio.

How do you know ?

MarcT-NL replied to Convexrook's topic in Bugs and Problems
Yeah. Do you remember the update where we got the clouds ? The P-51 has been broken since that update. The solution of Tanuki is what works for me. You have to do it after each update. Also the airflow-levers are fubar since that update. You can edit another .lua to correct that. Must be in the bugs somewherre. -
Yes, I concur. In fact, I even remember posting this on the forum. Can't find my post anywhere now, so I'll just support this post then.
