  1. Maybe the Kuznetsov can remain in the Supercarrier package. I'd just like to see it available outside too, like the standalone FC3 planes.
  2. I'm actually interested in the Hornet, and the Hornet+Supercarrier package is kind of a no-brainer. But I also love flying the Flanker, I started playing DCS with it. Even if I fly planes from both sides I feel more sympathy for the red side in the sim. Blue gets all the toys and when red gets something it feels mostly ignored by the community at large. It's sad, and seeing a company like Eagle Dynamics, who started making sims around the Flanker, of all planes, kind of ignoring the red side of their sim makes it even more sad. It's not just the lack of modern planes, there are very good reasons why they aren't making them. It's now also in the assets that have almost nothing to do with classified documentation. It's...disheartening. Really it feels like the Kuznetsov has been updated so that blue pilots get a nicer view of it through their TGPs...
  3. I've asked Bignewy about the Kuznetsov in the Discord: Kuznetsov is not planned to be released as an standalone module, and is also just a model update. That means no crew, no hangar/lifts, no nothing. He didn't say any "yet" or anything, so maybe that's final
  4. I agree, the Kuznetsov should at the very least be offered separately as a paid module. Doing it like this feels like ED just doesn't care much about what red players do or don't do, making them pay for the whole Supercarrier package when they are only going to use a very minor fraction of it. Afaik it's not coming with any of the new toys that the Supercarrier brings to the table, which really makes me wonder why in the first place would ED lose their time updating a carrier that very few people uses already, putting the new model behind a pretty big paywall and then don't offer anything interesting with it. Seems like a great way of wasting your time. Those who have bought the Supercarrier probably don't care about the Kuznetsov, those who would buy the Kuznetsov probably don't care much about the Supercarrier. Making it this way you are just offering something "for free" to people that really doesn't care about it while giving pretty good reasons to those who actually care about it to not pay for the package either. It just seems a really, really bad move. Pretty much tells me that red has become an afterthought for ED at this point. Which is sad, because having an actual red team is what makes DCS special for me. I could be flying another sim that would be just as awesome, but in that one I can't fly red planes. It's fine because those were never the purpose of it. However now in DCS red planes feel more and more abandoned, and making the red portion of the playerbase pay for things that are exclusive to the blue part just doesn't feel right. It's kind of a joke, in fact. Like, how much time would ED need to repackage the Kuznetsov individually and sell it by itself? 5 minutes? To potentially sell more? I know this feels ranty and somewhat off-topic but I think this gives us a good view of how ED thinks now. They aren't even chasing the money, they are just ignoring a good chunk of their playerbase.
  5. I agree the Kuznetsov should be getting the things the Supercarrier is getting. But I also understand ED may not be willing to put the effort for something they don't care about. Seeing the textures on that CIWS pretty much confirms it. I was just putting this as a request to have the updated Kuznetsov in its current state as a separate thing, because right now the whole Supercarrier is discounted, but who knows when will be the next discount. Paying 50 bucks for the Supercarrier if you want just the Kuznetsov is absolutely unreasonable. Having the standalone Kuznetsov, even in its gimped state, would be nice just for giving the choice to red players to actually get the ship without having to buy the whole package. I also agree having to pay for such a "minor" update feels wrong. The Hornet players got a free revamped CV when the Hornet dropped. I don't know how bad was the old model, but I'd hope to see this being done with red players too. Seeing that there's no russian carrier plane in the works (that we know of), just giving it to the players would be a nice gesture. However ED has put their work on this and I don't think they ever said the Su-33 would get a nice looking carrier down the line, so they are kind of in their right to charge us for it. Looking at those CIWS textures...that's disappointing. I hope the weapons work, at least.
  6. Yeah that's kind of outrageous. It'd be nice to see some SC features in the Kuznetsov, at the very least ATC. But I guess we will have to wait for that, or get some official confirmation.
  7. Hi ED, I know this may look like a weird request, but please let me pay for the Kuznetsov. Add the possibility of buying the Kuznetsov separately, maybe for 5 or 10€. If I remember correctly it's not getting any of the good stuff that the Supercarrier is getting, like the ATC or the deck crew, so why not offer it as Standalone? Like if it was another FC3 module? There's people out there that won't buy the Supercarrier just to get the Kuznetsov, so why forcing these people to go and buy the Supercarrier if they want to have a decent carrier to operate from with their Su-33? I know these people are just a tiny minority but really what's the effort to put another product on your store? I really think it should be at least offered as an standalone product. It's nice to get both the new Kuznetsov and the Su-33 with the Supercarrier and that may boost the Kuznetsov's usage, but for the people that is already playing the Su-33, it'd be a good gesture to them to make the Kuznetsov also an standalone product. Please consider it
  8. Hi, I've been flying the Harrier and other planes (mostly russian ones) recently, and having to change back and forth from a system of measurement (Metric) to the other (Imperial) for proper weight calculations (Sensitive thing in the case of the Harrier) is kind of a hassle. Could it be possible to have a "dynamic" option in the menu, that sets the measurement units of the loadout screen etc depending on the aircraft you are using? That way a plane that uses Metric would have the mass in the loadout screen listed in Kg, the distances, speeds and heights in the F10 map in km, km/h, and m, etc. It'd be more convenient, in my opinion.
  9. I think they mean a completely new module. The Warthog 2 thing is known to be a thing already.
  10. 201 is not a representative number of the whole community. You have to keep in mind there's people eager to get a russian plane and they make sure they are heard of. There's many people that don't voice their wishes as much, maybe because they already have what they want, maybe because they know it will come, maybe just can't be bothered to. We see here a lot of people wishing it was a russian plane, but we don't see as many wishing it was US. I don't think it's because nobody cares about those. I think the people that wishes it was an US plane don't make themselves heard as much. After all US planes are the focus of the game
  11. Because an F-15C would sell like candy for relatively little effort
  12. I don't know how big the market for MAC really is. If you are making a MAC-tier plane you may as well make it FC3-tier too, I guess.
  13. I think FC3 shouldn't "be turned into" clicky planes. They should stay as they are, and if a clicky version is made, it should be a completely separate one. FC3 is a good entry level simulation for DCS and entirely replacing an FC3 plane with a clicky one is a can of worms. However I agree with some of the previous posts, ED won't make a modern russian fighter because they can't or aren't willing to. Any western plane will surely sell way more, and making a russian plane could be difficult from a bureaucratic PoV, it just wouldn't be worth the time. Why are they making an Mi-24 then? I have no answer, but maybe that's just what the helo team can do atm. This is how I think it goes, and is kind of sad. But we can't blame them for trying to make money, they have a business to run and a game to support. If they want to keep working on the base game (which is much needed) then they will need that money. I'm hoping their new module is a russian bird, but I honestly don't see it happening any time soon
  14. If ED jumps in the European planes, what planes could we expect?
  15. Afaik the ones that are in the US have had their original avionics replaced. Also, them being in the US won't make the MoD automatically willing to make them happen, maybe even more wary about making them
  16. It's not just for the combat, it's for the systems and the general philosophy. As you say, the game is saturated with Teen series planes, MFD-controlled Spamraam trucks. A completely different system would be appreciated, look at the F-14. Plus it wouldn't be alone, it'd have the MiG-21 and the F-5 to fight While I agree, it could be that neither ED or a significant portion of the community are willing to expand it this way. There are many issues and things that desperately need a rework or implementation. Given that ED has stated they want to work on the base game... The Mi-24 is a helicopter widely exported and understood by the west. Hell the west has some. The Su-27 is a plane whose, at least aerodynamic and/or engine characteristics may not be fully understood and may still he applicable. Fewer people, I'd say The Eurofighter is still western, not as noticeable as US planes at first, but still western. And you can always consider it "specialization" rather than stagnation. Just like some simulators are more geared towards certain planes and simulate them really good, DCS could be trying to make that with western teen fighters. Become really good at simulating them
  17. Okay now with the Eurofighter thing the situation has changed a bit. The Eurofighter is a plane that has hyped quite a bit of people, and the F-15E is coming. Now, ED has to reveal their module, and is a module that's going to be competing against the F-15E and the Eurofighter in terms of sales. That's going to be a tough fight, the only plane that could outshine the Eurofighter now is the F-15, and given that we are already getting an F-15, ED may go another route. ED's module will have to release far from the Eurofighter or the F-15 if they don't want to be competing against those so much (and please don't rush the release again, ED). Now, a fixed wing plane is going to have quite some competition, so ED may try to go for helicopters. An Apache or a Cobra would make a lot of people happy and will sell very well, without competing against the Eurofighter and the F-15E. This could also be a chance for ED to come with something completely different, like an older plane or a russian plane. Let's see The older plane could be a good option, many people is asking for Cold War era planes and it will be different enough by default. However, Ivan has spent a lot of time coding those MFDs and Spamraams, and ED is going to make sure you enjoy at least one of those. They have been going down the 2000s jets road in terms of fixed wing planes and I don't see them changing that anytime soon. The russian plane would be ideal. We are lacking a proper modern full fidelity jet for redfor, the Jeff being Pakistani and mostly blue in terms of systems. However the russian government is what it is, so it's highly unlikely that it would be a russian plane just because of that. Even if they could, the plane would still be competing against the Eurofighter and the Eagle, even if the release is far away from theirs. Many people would pass because it's russian, others will pass because of its capabilities, others will pass because ED has ruined their track record (let's be honest), others will just be not interested or have already bought any of the other planes and they have their hands full. Russian planes simply won't be competitive enough for them to be a real option, in my opinion. They will be time-consuming as ED can't just base their code on already existing planes because they are inherently different, they will also have to overcome the russian bureaucracy, people will be wary of buying EA products even if they want to buy the plane itself, and ED wants to work on the base game. The plane risks to flop and simply not sell enough to cover the costs of working on the base game. It's a risky move, and while their numbers seem okay, I don't think they can risk much if they want to keep working on the base game and not have to work on an "emergency plane release" to cover the plane's flop. With this said, I think ED will be going for a helicopter, probably US because they are a bit left aside in terms of helicopters, and US materiel sells. Anyway, I was expecting yesterday's announcement to be an F-15, I'm glad I was wrong, and I hope to be wrong again. But even I don't know if I want ED to risk making a plane that flops.
  18. Could it be the F-4? They said they had "indefinitely postponed" it, but ***if*** the F-16 and the F-18 are going to be finished this year, the team would be free to work on the F-4, so maybe...
  19. But western is the most probable option here. They are very capable, ED works with some companies already and they sell like candy. I don't really see a reason why they wouldn't do a western jet. Specially with the issues that the russian government puts in the development of their planes. Why go through all that hassle to develop a russian plane that may even not sell very well, when you can "just" make an F-15 and have it sell like candy
  20. Imo the announced plane is going to be the F-15C. They already have the 3D model so that cuts EA release time, and an F-15C would sell like candy. I wish it was a Su-27 or MiG-29 but those are highly unlikely, and given that ED appears to be looking for profits (to stay afloat and work on the base game, so it makes sense), a russian plane would be more unlikely than an US one. Leaving issues with the russian government aside, ofc
  21. Hi, I'm trying to connect to DCS via Steam. I have Steam open but when I try to run the game, I get an error and get directed to the logs. 22. Also, now that the Hornet is going to get the Mk.77, could the other planes get similar weapons too? The Su-27 can carry the ZB-500 incendiary bomb, which should be similar. I guess the Su-25 must be able to carry them too.
  23. Hello, I've been taking a look at the Su-27's manual, and I noticed some incoherencies between the manual and the plane in-game. For example, the placement of the ИЗЛ symbol. In-game, it's on the lower side of the HUD. The manual shows it on the left side of the HUD, and the IRL Su-27SK's manual on the lower side too. Looks like the manual is either terribly outdated or just wrong, at the very least on the HUD symbology part. So please, could the team take a look at the manual as a whole and put it up to date? PS: I know it's too much asking but could we ever see a deeper implementation of the Su-27 modes? Or maybe new ones? Even if it would still be FC3, it could maybe be brought a bit more up to date?
