Jagged/ Shimmering lines in Quest 3

I should also add that I have no issues inside the cockpit. Just seems to be stuff viewed at distance. -
Jagged/ Shimmering lines in Quest 3
killerquagmire replied to killerquagmire's topic in Virtual Reality
Here are some screenshots I took today. Looks pretty rough for anything a good distance from the cockpit. Yes but it makes my gauges blurry so I don't use it. I've been using MSAA 2x since October and I've only recently noticed this issue. -
Jagged/ Shimmering lines in Quest 3
killerquagmire replied to killerquagmire's topic in Virtual Reality
I'm running a RTX 3090. PD at 1.5. MSAA set to 2x,16x anisotropic filtering, terrain and details set to high, everything else set to medium. Hell I even tried maxing all the graphics out and it had zero impact concerning the jaggies. But like I said, I have been running Quest 3 with DCS since October and I just started noticing this recently. It's just jagged edges and shimmering lines on stuff outside when I look out the cockpit. For instance when i was coming in for a landing at an airport tucked between some mountains next to the gulf. The waterline against the mountains was so jagged, it looked ridiculously bad. Also other planes that are beside me on the carrier have horrible jagged lines and shimmering around their wing tips. I will try to get a screen shot up later. -
RTX 4080 is fine. Obviously the 4090 would be better but I use an RTX3090 and run mostly high settings. I would avoid AMD cards when it comes to DCS. I'm sure I will get some flak for that statement but trust me when I tell you that you will be better off with an Nvidia card when it comes to DCS optimization. Now regarding the Quest 3, you may won't to really research this one. I have the quest 3 and was initially pleased overall but I have recently been experiencing a lot of jagged lines and shimmering for stuff rendered outside the cockpit and I'm not sure why. I think it's an issue with the Quest and not DCS because I have noticed this in the Quest games as well to a lesser degree. I know there are others running the HP Reverb which I also owned briefly but I couldn't get past the "looking through a straw" effect. The Pimax Crystal is also an option. A bit more expensive I think but it may be worth a look.

I've been using the Quest 3 with DCS since launch and have been pleased with the results overall. However, I have been noticing a lot more jagged edges and shimmering in the past week or so on stuff rendered outside of the cockpit. I'm not sure if it's the Quest or DCS as they have both updated recently. Maxing the graphics seems to have no effect. Any other Quest 3 users out there having a similar issue?

if you are using XR tool kit Turbo mode and DCS MT then it will result in a freeze/crash when you take off the headset. Turn off turbo mode in XR tool kit and that should fix the issue. At least it did for me.

solved JTAC no longer responding
killerquagmire replied to killerquagmire's topic in Mission Editor Bugs
Actually got it going today. Not sure why it wasn't working yesterday. I deleted all the units and replaced them and it started working. Weird bug I guess. -
So I just stepped back into the game after about a 6 month hiatus and I can't seem to get JTAC working in mission editor. What's weird is it works fine in the older missions I created and I have everything set up precisely the same way for this new mission but when I make the radio call to axeman with a playtime he simply doesn't respond. Has something changed in 2.8 that I'm missing here?

That worked! Many thanks!!

Hey guys, I can't seem to get comms 2 working with vaicom. I have comm1 setup with TX1 and comm 2 with TX3. No problems with comm1 but when ever I press tx3 for comm-2, I get the little triangle indicating activation but I get no squelch, no response. All the activation settings in voice attack for tx1 and tx3 are identical. Not sure what I'm doing wrong here. Any tips?

Thanks for all the tips guys. I will put it to good use!

Hey guys, I have a quick question about an issue that’s been bugging me for a while. Every time I watch a tutorial, people go full flaps and gear down and then they trim the pitch to get on speed and bank right into the final approach. Everything seems smooth and gradual. However, when I go full flaps and gear down (just under 250 knots) the nose of my plane almost instantly starts to pitch straight up and I have to fight it with the stick to keep it level while trying to adjust the trim which obviously makes the plane pitch up even more. It’s a wrestling match but I eventually get it under control and on speed. However, I’m usually about 5 miles or more out from the runway by then. Surely I’m doing something wrong here?

solved JTAC bugged since last update??
killerquagmire replied to killerquagmire's topic in Mission Editor Bugs
Figured it out. The wypt elevation was too high so it wasn't picking up the laser. -
I'm having a tough time getting JTac going in mission editor since the last update. JTac will not fire laser even though he says "lasing". My sensors just aren't picking it up. I've tried putting him inside of 1k, 2k and even 3k meters (3k meters I get No Mark even with clear LOS) to the target and nothing seems to work. I have the FAC Assign set to WP-Laser designation. Is this bugged or has something changed with the format? My method: Contact Jtac create WP from JTac coordinates switch wypt to tgt complete JTac comms sequence IP inbound within 10 miles of target Mark on the deck request laser on within 5 miles of target JTac responds with laser on and then "lasing" Target indicator does not switch off from waypoint to laser. I've even tried just dropping the bombs over the tgt area to see if they would pick up a laser but they aren't being guided at all. Am I missing something here?

solved Waving the White Flag on the HP Reverb G2
killerquagmire replied to killerquagmire's topic in VR Bugs
Well guys, as a last ditch effort I rolled back to Windows 10 and that appears to have fixed the problem! I'm going to do some more testing later tonight but everything is much much smoother and no tearing or frame jumps! Thanks again for all the help guys. I will say it again- Best damn community in gaming! -
solved Waving the White Flag on the HP Reverb G2
killerquagmire replied to killerquagmire's topic in VR Bugs
Guys, thank you for trying to help and I appreciate all of your suggestions. This truly is the best gaming community that I have ever been a part of. Unfortunately, nothing has made an impact. Every time I think I just about have the micro stutter minimalized to a point I can live with, I start getting all these crazy frame jumps and lag about 5 minutes or so in flight that destroys my entire experience. It's especially prevalent when I turn my head. I don't know if it's piss poor tracking (and I'm in a well lit room) or just incompatibility with my system, but it definitely isn't providing me with an enjoyable experience. I see the potential, but it just isn't playing nice with my hardware. I have a sneaking suspicion it's not jiving with my CPU. Seems like most people that posted their specs are using an i7 while I'm using an i5. The bottom line is, I just didn't have these problems with my Oculus S so I'm sending this sucker back Monday and going back to that. I will take the lower resolution smooth flight over a high res stutter fest any day. Thanks again. -
solved Waving the White Flag on the HP Reverb G2

Thanks for the reply. I’ll give that a shot when I get back home shortly. You mentioned disabling hot plug in DCS controls. I don’t recall ever seeing such a setting. I will look for it when I get home but if it’s hidden somewhere, please let me know where to find it. Thanks -
solved Waving the White Flag on the HP Reverb G2
killerquagmire replied to killerquagmire's topic in VR Bugs
I have a 1TB WD Black SN750 M.2 NVMe SSD. Nothing on the system but Windows and DCS. Also, I use Skatezillas DCS updater and have already tried the extended deep repair and clean. I couldn't figure out how to do the screenshot of OpenXR tool kit but I have the resolution set manually just a little below the standard resolution for the Reverb. Motion control is disabled. It seems to be much worse with it on. FYI my FPS never drops below 45. Mostly stays around 70 FPS or higher but the micro stutter is still there. Thank you for any help you can provide. -

Can't open port 10308 on Tp-Link AX-11000
killerquagmire replied to killerquagmire's topic in Multiplayer Bugs
Yeah it looks that way. The lady on the phone did mention that she could attempt to get the fee waived. I just didn’t think that she fully understood the situation as often happens when you call these guys. Guess it was me who didn’t understand. But, I’ve been through two other ISP’s in my 5 yr history with DCS and never had this issue. Hopefully they can wave the fee. Otherwise I’ll just have to join other servers. Thanks for your help man. I’ve been running up against a lot of technical issues with DCS lately. Now back to trying to get my new VR headset tuned in. That’s been a nightmare in itself. Lol -
Well guys, I'm making a last ditch plea for help on this thing before I put in for an RMA Monday. I just bought the HP Reverb G2 earlier this week as an upgrade to the Oculus S and have been met with total disappointment. Yes it looks phenomenal until you turn your head and then it's micro stutter and screen tear galore. I have spent an insane amount of time over the last 3 days trying to tweak this hunk of junk to correct this problem. I have followed every guide listed here, Youtube videos and left no stone unturned on the internet and the problem still persists. I've tried tweaking SteamVr, OpenXR Tools, Opencomposite, OpenXR Toolkit, underclocking, overclocking, lowering resolution, lowering graphical settings and even tried reinstalling a fresh copy of Windows to no avail. I have built at least half a dozen custom rigs and been fiddling with PC's for most of my life and I have never invested this much time in trying to get functionality out of a piece of hardware. At this point, I'm starting to think that this is just the way it is with the Reverb and people deal with the micro stutter because of the superior image quality. But for me, I can't. The Oculus may be lower resolution but it was buttery smooth and I will take that all day over high resolution micro stutter. So now that I have let off some steam (no pun intended), I'm hoping that someone, ANYONE out there can share their settings with me that has a rig similar to mine. I just can't believe that this is the best the Reverb can offer given all the praise I've seen. There has to be something I'm missing here. Intel 10k600 OC @ 4.9 GHZ Asus Tuf Z490 Mobo Asus Strx RTX 3090 OC 32 GB Corsair Dominator Memory 3200 Mhz Windows 11 Pro Thanks in advance for any help you can provide

Upgrading from Oculus to HP Reverb = Absolute Trainwreck
killerquagmire replied to killerquagmire's topic in Virtual Reality
I have a similar system with an OC ASUS Strx RTX3090. I should be getting similar results. Can you list your settings for OpenXR? Also, are you using OpenComposite? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide -
That worked. Tried to do the Opencomposite again now that I have Steam stable but I'm getting a lot of shaking and some slight stutter. Any fix for that or should I just stick with SteamVR? Just trying squeeze out as much FPS as possible while keeping graphics high. Plus, the loading screen for DCS in Steam is obnoxious inside VR lol

OpenXR Guide - Deprecated - This time for real (▀̿Ĺ̯▀̿ ̿)
killerquagmire replied to nikoel's topic in Virtual Reality
Were you able to pretty much plug n play or did you have to change a bunch of settings to get it operating smoothly? I'm considering just doing a complete wipe and reinstalling Windows 11.
