  1. I have no access to my planes or terrains right now due to this. Pretty frustrating. I can't use what I paid for. Sorry, just frustrated.
  2. I don't know if this is the right place to say this (I did poke around first), but I just wanted to share my experience. I had an RTX 3090 Ti and an i9-12900. With most options turned up, I was getting low 30's (FPS). I really wanted to see what DCS could do, so I just upgraded (RTX 4090 and i9-13900). Way better, into the 40's. But using fpsVR, I could see I was still CPU bound, at least some of the time - like on the ground. Then I remembered seeing that multithreading was coming, so I thought I'd try it out. OMG! Now, with all settings maxed out (using MSAA 4x and Anisotropic 16x - the other anti-aliasing options didn't look as good - if anyone has suggestions, please let me know), and MT of course, I'm getting 6o+ FPS. So gratifying, given all the $$ I shelled out. I should mention this is using a Pimax 8KX. However, when I switched back from Steam VR to PimaxVR and OpenXR (via OpenComposite), DCS wouldn't start (it would hang while displaying the clouds 'loading' screen). But I'm quite fuzzy on the various XR optoins. Am I correct in saying PimaxVR and OpenXR (via OpenComposite)? Also, I noticed the in-app FPS display freaks out a bit - it continuously flashes "CPU Bound (rendering a thread)" (or something very close to that). It doesn't seem to hurt anything, just a little annoying to look at. Do others see that?
  3. Got it. Hitting right-shift-home did the trick. Note: not the numeric keyboard 'home' key - the one to the left of the numeric keyboard - at least on my keyboard. Awesome. Now I can look at campaigns, etc. Thanks!
  4. Thanks. I'm spooled up to 22% or so (and stable), and SEC light is out. Since this is a 'cold dark start practice' built-in mission, I have fuel. I half think the jet isn't recognizing the throttle for some reason. That's why I specified my HOTAS set-up, in case I'm missing something there.
  5. Newbie question here. I can't get my engine to spool past the 20% mark. I'm fairly sure I'm doing everything right, based on (relatively) recent videos on performing a cold start. I'm using a WINWING Orion HOTAS F-16EX that seems to be working fine. But I'm clearly missing something Most basic steps (this should work, right?) - Power on - JFS Start 2 - Wait for SEC light - Move throttle up to idle Engine should spool up, yes? I should mention I've gone through all the more detailed steps as well, multiple times, and waited a 'long time' to ensure nothing ever happened (and tried moving the throttle way up, etc.). Thoughts?
  6. For me, turning off HAGS (on my new windows 11 machine) made a 1000% difference. Like night and day. From intolerable to pure joy. Thanks so much for passing this along!
  7. Man, oh man, was this a lifesaver. I'll skip the other 99 problems I solved (new machine, windows 11, found out the 3090 Ti does NOT work with the Pimax 8KX). This was the final change that made everything work fantastic (as opposed to my prior 'throw it in the garbage' type results). Note this was with my 3090 (hopefully Pimax/Nvidia will figure out the 3090 Ti problem 'soon').
  8. All good advice. I've been working with YouTube videos (and I found out about using the wings to brake there as well - this jet needs better brakes!). The Korean F-16 basic employment manual looks like it will keep me busy for a long time.
  9. I spent a fair amount of time with Falcon 4.0... more than 20 years ago. So, I'm not 100% dumb, just close. I'm just trying to master landings again right now. What kind of "training program" should I follow? I want to keep my momentum up (I just bought a Pimax 8KX and a new PC!). The built-in DCS training is too tedious for me, at least right now. Suggestions?
  10. Cool, thanks for the info. I was a Falcon 4.0 guy - I'll be looking forward to the F-16. Any thoughts on why I have no afterburners or take-off thrust?
  11. I'm brand new (like a couple of days). I bought the F/A 18 and am having the same issue - no afterburners and no thrust upon takeoff. Is this a bug? Slightly different topic: I have an old TM HOTAS Cougar. The stick, rudders, and throttle all work fine. Here's the question - is getting the latest: Thrustmaster Hotas Warthog (plus rudder) - worth it? The originals are very well made.
