What a nice surprise to wake up to. Supercarrier for £21. Bargain. Thanks for sorting it out ED

Cheers for the update Wags

This is a new issue for me, i've been flying the Tomcat since launch day without any problem until very recently, mid December maybe then this issue started. I'm using a Hotas Warthog, TM mfd's, Saitek Combat Rudder pedals. I do have a steering wheel, pedals and a SKRS shifter plugged in also but have un bound all buttons and axis from them..... but perhaps i have left a stray button maybe. I'll check tonight. Doesn't happen with other modules though.

Unfortunately i've also had this issue recently, i uninstalled DCS. After reinstalling it was fine for several days but then on Sunday it happened again. I was doing the pitching deck mission. Again trim fully nose down stick fully forward just to keep level-ish. I did have the alt hold switch on at the time. It's hard to catch because it's so random. I'm a Steam user if that has any bearing on it.

Thanks for the reply, hopefully this will get resolved soon.

Questions for ED When will Steam users be able to pre-order the SC module? Will we also get the 50% discount than non Steam Hornet owners are getting? I'm happy with DCS and Steam so don't want to move across to the Standalone version but probably like other Steam users hope we won't be penalised for not using the Standalone. Hope the devs can clarify Thanks

I've only ever pre-ordered one digital item that was Heatblur's Tomcat. Reason being that there was a small discount for pre ordering. Was only about £6-£7 but enough for a "Spoons" Breakfast. I'll probably pre order the SuperCarrier for the same reason.

You were very lucky to be so close to Oceana and being able to see them daily BJM. I live close to a UK Naval base now and while i see Hawks and Merlin Helicopters daily, and now the occasional F-35 those aircraft seem a little... sterile compared to the Tomcat. Such a shame that there's none left flying, well that I can go and see anyway. I think I had the same model kit Boosterdog although a later version of it, still done out as VF-1 though. Nice to see a fellow Lancastrian on here i'm from Accrington originally.

That was a really interesting read Manga, obviously very passionate about the F-14 Like you i waited for years to be able to fly a fully fledged Tomcat. Had a lot of fun with Dino Cattaneo's Tomcat in FSX but wasn't even in the same league as Heatblur's

I'm genuinely intrigued where our love of this jet in particular comes from. There are so many military planes but for so many of us, standing head and shoulders above everything else is the Mighty F-14 Tomcat. For me it started in a 1990, year 7 English class in my hometown in Lancashire U.K. The homework we were given was to bring in a magazine and talk about what interested us in it. I think the one I chose was Computer and Videogames, which was a magazine from the guy who now does Digital Foundry Richard Leadbetter. all across the class, for the boys anyway it was either football or video games except the lad sat next to me. Nicky had moved to the U.K from San Diego several years prior and he brought a magazine about military aviation. He stood up proudly and said "Today i'm going to talk about the F-14 Tomcat" I was fascinated listening to him speak He showed us pictures of this huge jet with afterburners blazing screaming off the end of a carrier and I was hooked.... actually a lot of us were we'd never seen anything like it before. At some point he loaned me the VHS of this That opening scene with the Tomcat lining up and launching cemented it for me, I bought plastic model kits, posters, my uncle started taking me to airshows sadly I never got to see a Tomcat but that love of aircraft and particularly the F-14 has stayed with me every since It was this jet that brought me to DCS, I've known about DCS for a long time but it was hearing that there was a fully modelled F-14 in the works that gave me a kick to finally shell out and buy a Hotas Warthog and combat rudder pedals just over a year ago. So why was the Tomcat the one plane that most of us dreamed about? on another note thank you heatblur for making it possible for me to fly the Tomcat. in VR the experience cannot be beaten.

Not the case with VR. I've just added these to my setup and love them. Not sure how other VR users fair but i've found that muscle memory has taken over largely and and am able to press buttons either while playing DCS or driving sims in VR without any bother. I have been using VR since 2014 so will conceed that i've had plenty of practice. I'd say get a pair they are a good, relatively inexpensive way of expanding the immersion.

Hi, I've having a bit of an issue with Steam over a refund of £63 I'm hoping someone may be able to advise on. I bought The Harrier, Spitfire and Normandy map last night in the Steam Sale. I tried to launch the Spitfire in Normandy and was met with an error message saying I didn't have the required assets. I then did a quick flight in the Spitfire on the default map and also had a quick flight in The Harrier. Around 20 minutes each I requested a refund on all three items as I decided I had enough aircraft to be going on with. Steam have refused my refund as the play time for each module is over five hours, minutes apart oddly enough. I know why it's because I loaded the night hunter mission for the Tomcat at around half 6 this morning and it's been paused pretty much ever since. They're picking up the playtime of DCS not the module. I've requested the refund again but is there a way I can prove to them that it's not any of these 3 modules? They're were all uninstalled less than an hour after I purchased them. Quite miffed at the moment and i'm unable to get hold of a phone number to speak to anyone or an email address Has anyone had this happen with Steam or can anyone offer any advice at all please? Thanks

Having just fired up the sim for a quick flight the buttons on the throttles are going haywire. Nothing appears to work as mapped, multiple button presses. Going to have to go down the replacement route unfortunately. Am gutted as i expected better quality for £400 issues with these throttles seems to affect quite a few of these units.
-
I've just installed T A.R.G.E.T but couldn't find where to test the buttons of the throttles. I opened up joy.cpl and noticed the behaviour below. Basically the hat switch on the front of the throttle works as a hat switch apart from when i hold Right. In that instance it triggers button 8. The hat switch on the right of the throttles triggers buttons 4 (up) 5 (forward) and 6 (down) however when pushing the hat back it triggers up on the POV hat graphic in the game controllers config. Video below. Is there something funny going on with my throttles or is this how they're supposed to be?

Thank you for the advice Drakoz, it is a completely fresh install of windows and DCS but will give that ago. I'll install T.A R.G.E.T and have a look at that too.

My most amazing memory of aviation was at Salmsbury airfield in Lancashire. I was at a families day as a child in the 80's. I was stood with my uncle on the tarmac at one end of the runway as a Lightning took off and went vertical with full afterburner above my head. It was the most incredible sight and that was it i was hooked. I'd buy this in a heartbeat.

Hi Folks, After a couple of months hiatus from DCS i decided to climb back into the cockpit again. Upom firing up DCS and jumping into the Tomcat i've noticed some odd behaviour with my Warthog throttles. As i us VR i have a button mapped to zoom, this doesn't always work or sometimes when i hold it down the view will flick forward and backwards like i'm pressing it multiple times. The default Jester menu button doesn't always work. The 3 position switch on the side of the right throttle (weapons arm) was flicking on and off while in the arm position. My master light switch was flicking on and off while turning it on ( can here multiple clicks from the sim too) I was pressing the button i have mapped to pause (the nipple on the front of the right throttle) and as well as pausing it also brought up the Jester menu. All rather odd behaviour. Is this a driver issue or a fault with the stick itself? I plugged the stick in and windows installed the drivers. After a bricked Windows installation and a faulty stick of RAM i put in 16gb new RAM and reinstalled Windows and everything else from scratch.... although some of the issues were present before.... the zoom one and Jester menu being temperamental at times. Most of these issues only appear using the Tomcat. The Hornet, Huey and F-15 only have the zoom issue. The stick was brand new in Nov 18. Is this a quirk of DCS or a faulty stick? Sounds daft to ask but i went through several x-52s back in 2010 that all suffered the same button not working in FSX so wanted to see if anyone else has come accross this at all before going down the replacement route Sorry it's a bit of a ramble but thanks for taking a look.
-
I took the plunge and bought the Huey a few days ago. It is such a rewarding aircraft to fly. My hovering leaves a lot to be desired but that will come with practice. In just a couple of days i'm able to start her up, do the mission (as long as there's no hovering), navigate back to base, land and shut down. It is my favourite aircraft in my hanger, even the Tomcat has been relegated.

I started playing DCS in November 18 using a mechanical HDD (didn't believe the hype i suppose). After seeing a 240gb SSD for £25 i bought one and compressed my C: from around 700gb to just 215gb. All it contained was the OS, ETS2 ATS and of course DCS. WOW!!!! i was blown away by the speed of it. I cannot understand why it took my close to 4 years to put an SSD in there after all i built the thing. Think i put all my cash into the CPU/GPU. I've since bought a 1tb Samsung 860 evo and have all my games installed on it. Buy it it was the best upgrade since building my PC in 2015 very easy to move everything across to it too.

It took me ages to locate this. You just need to click the centre of the VDI.
-
Your fix worked a treat. Thanks RVator

Ahh thank you BJM. Haven't played it in a week or so. When i fired it up this evening Jesters menu was all the way over to the left in VR. I assumed it was because of an update.

Is there a new location for the changelog sticky posted by Cobra? I haven't seen an update since the 10th April but there does appear to have been changes. I don't use Facebook, Twitter etc so may have missed something there however. Apologies if this seems like a daft question
