Brunner Force Feedback Joystick Base
jameslockridge replied to Mozart's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Sorry Kingpinda, I've been traveling for the holiday and just saw this today. I did send my base out to be modified. The modification is relatively a simple one consisting of soldering a jumper wire across a resistor. I decided to have them do it more because I didn't want to disassemble and reassemble the base. My modified base is due to ship today so I should have it back this week hopefully. On another note of interest during this process I had offered to beta test there Forced Feedback software. When they notified me that my base was finished they also had a link to that software. I'm looking forward to testing both. -

Great looking and very helpful website Miles. I'm down around number 177, which is probably better since I have not pulled the trigger on VR yet. I'm still waiting to see which one would be best for me. Right now leaning to the Reverb if nothing better comes out.- 3416 replies

I've noticed soft like cooing noise coming from my base when I'm not using it. Is this normal? It is very faint but enough to have me turning it off when not in use. -

I think it should be arriving at your door step very soon, that's based on my experience, they are very professional. I haven't used my base a whole lot, I have the Virpil T-50Cm grip and the only things that work are the pitch and roll. What is missing is the ability to the ability to trim at all, which from my lack of experience and cement based hand are a necessity for the F-18. I've been told from Brunner that hardware trim is the gold standard I did fly with the Brunner for 2 days doing air to air refueling. I will say I that it was VERY SMOOTH and enjoyable to fly with. I'm glad you step into the abyss and purchased one, It give Brunner more incentive that our market is viable. Let me know if there is any thing I can do to help. Jim -

I heard from Brunner Tech support they were able to purchase a TM50V2 to day. So I don't think it will be long, I'm really excited. -

It's annoying that Brunner has seen run across this problem before, when I asked them prior to purchasing mine they said it should work minus the extra buttons. They told me it hadn't been tested because the grip was out of stock. If they had purchased yours this probably would have all been worked out by now. -

Thanks for your advice, I am a little confused as well. When I select VPC Mongoos T-50 in the button page of there software as they suggested. It does report as being a VPC T-50 in both windows game controller and DCS. However none of the buttons works in either. I don't have a Warhog base to test, only the Virpil Warbrd base which works fine. I'm definitely disappointed with the lack of support from Brunner there has been no response since the first message telling me to change the device in there software. -

I think the newer version of the grip has more buttons. Before I bought it I had asked Brunner and they thought that the added buttons would not work, but that the all the others should work. I hope Brunner gets one of the grip when they go back in stock this Thursday. I don't know how important it is for them to quickly rework there software to make it compatible. I did reach out to there support people who had me try assign it to the older version of the grip in there software which didn't help. I'm still waiting for them to get back to me with follow up questions I had. My guess is that it will be awhile before it's functional based on what I've seen. In hind sight I should have waited. -

My CSL-E arrived Friday, I set it up per the instructions unfortunately none of the buttons on the Virpil MongoosT-50CM2 work with the present software. Pitch and Roll do work. Before I ordered it tech support had thought the buttons should however they have not tested it with this new grip only the older MongoosT-50. Brunner has said they are going to get this newer version of grip. The problem is that these grips are not always in stock and they missed the last restocking period which was frustrating since I had told them ahead of time when the restock period began. For now it's an expensive paper weight and I'm using the Virpil base. -

I also ordered one mostly for the way it trims. I've looked at there documentation and it looks like setup should be relatively easy. -

Hi Miles I just checked out your video and wanted to take a second to say WELL Done. This is an amazing feat from conception, design, production and the million or so steps in between. Very impressive.- 3416 replies

Thank you both for your help with sorting this out, your feedback has been a huge help to me. It sounds like the Brunner is the way to go and it handles trimming the way I'm use to in a GA aircraft. -

Thanks Berniyh, I appreciate your help, I am curious is this different then how the thrustmaster trims? I'm trying to ramp up to how this all works. Jim -
Brunner Force Feedback Joystick Base

Trimming with the CLS-E I received the following message from Brunner, I am seriously thinking of upgrading to the CLS-E. The driving force is to have a stick that trims more the way an aircraft would. By that I mean I would typically pitch for the attitude I want, then use the trim to take the pressure of the stick to hold that attitude. Maybe that is not the way it works and I should readjust how I trim. After reading there email it sounds like the Brunner trims differently then my present Thrustmaster 1600 soon to be a Virpil MongoosT50CM. I have reached out again to them for clarification. Is there anyone using the CLS-E that might be able to shed some light on this for me? BTW I typically fly the F-18 module. Thanks Hi Jim Yes you can use it in DCS with static forces, hardware trim is already working this is a benefit The physical dimensions has and will not change. kind regards -

Evaluating ordering a CLS-E purchase I'm due to receive a MongoosT-50CM2 there new grip. I contacted Brunner on there implementation of force feedback. I'll paste there response below, I found it encouraging. My question is if I purchase it now would it be an upgrade to the Warbird base that I will be getting. Or should I just wait until Brunner releases there software. Thanks in advance. --------------------------------------------------- Hello Jim The CLS- E Joystick already works with DCS World... Only static forces over game controller are supported at the moment As we have many peopel asking for this, implementation for force feedback in DCS is now in progress and should be released soon Thanks, kind regards Stefan Brunner
