  1. I don't expect night and day, but maybe dusk and day? ;) lol If you tell me there is a recognizable difference between O and Rift in regards of legability of the instruments and improvement of SDE, I'm in at least :)
  2. O+, sure... But anybody knows about the SDE compared between Rift and Odyssey (non-Plus)?
  3. How do you know the requested/required altitude for the next waypoint? Do you all check the F10 map? In the F-18 it is shown in the Data page on the HSI, but F-14? Couldn't Jester call out the FL or Angels?
  4. Finally, relieve! haha, thank you very much! Now as stated, I only need to find th "lock/track closest bandit" and "lock/track highest threat" or something like that. I don't know if it's an available command, but back int previews it was stated so by Heatblur, soooo.....
  5. Yes Sir, that's why I asked for "next step(s)" improvements, not just "what is the Alpha and Omega HMD out there?"
  6. "how to" navigate through the circle menu is no problem, but actually a "where to find which command" would be useful I think. Especially for all the Utility stuff, TACAN, DataLink etc. - if you command Jester to Auto Select radar range and/or azimuth and elevation.... What is the pattern of it? - where do I find the command to lock the closest bandit or highest priority threat? Before I open another Thread: Could somebody explain where on the TID I can find the radar range I have no feeling for how far shown contacts are...
  7. O+ for 250? Where? Do you know how present the SDE in the original Odyssey is compared to the Rift?
  8. Hey fellow Catters! I am sorry if this is common knowledge but where do I find a step-by-step-overview of Jester's menues and submenues and what they do?
  9. To give an example, take a look at the First Singleplayer Mission (forgot the name) where you are supposed to fly a pretty long flight (I love that) and on WP3 you are supposed to fly West to bomb the target which is not bound to a specific Initial Point or Surface Target (although the Briefing tells you it is.... but I can't make it out in the Jester menues... or maybe I am stupid lol) First of, in VR, spotting is a PITA, so I would like to create am additional steering point DIRECTLY on the target (which shouldn't be untrealistic as it is an immobile target, so fixed coordinates here). First problem is that you can't point out the target during the mission with F10 as enemies are invisible. So I would have to do that BEFORE the mission, right? In general, independent of the plane, ground targets should ALWAYS be fixed to a steering point, as they are... well, fixed... unless it is a mobile target of course ;)

  11. Amazing, isn't it? My mobile phone has more computing power than the Apollo 11 on board cpu had. Still, I didn't intend to suggest to implement anything unrealistic into the Cat module. I was just asking how to work around her limitations in regards to waypoints which could a) reseemble a realistic procedure and b) make this possible to pull of as a solo operator (at best without even touching the RIO seat)... and I think this has been answered sufficiently and I hope this gives some idead to mission creators who need more than the dafault number of waypoints
  12. I can imagine, but I am only soloing it. Even if I had a friend or sqaudron flying with me, I can't commit to fixed schedules unfortunately. But I am sure it is awesome, thrilling and chilling at the same time to partner up for a 2-3 hour CAP or bombing run.
  13. I think the latter would be most practical.
  14. Now we're talking! But how do we get this into the Mission Editor and from there make Jester navigating us to WP4,5,... ? As mentioned, I was sure that changing WPs coordinates to keep up a longer navigational sequence was common in the F-14 back in the day (obviously), still being surprise... But as I will not fly a real F-14 in the future, I was just focusing on how we do that in DCS ;) For example: The famous Red Flag mission has been given an F-14 option but all the twirks and irks with the 3 WP limitation makes it less fun... Though given jester should be able to change WPs coordinates, as mentioned above. And pls keep in mind that many people are soloing the Cat. Having a human RIO available shouldn't be a requirement.
  15. Really? So IRL all the F-14s only flew sorties with 3 WPs, no matter how far the distance would be? That seems like super primitive, even for the time... Waypoints are nothing more than fixed points bound to coordinates, so as Jester can enter Surface target coordinates for us to follow, why not being able to enter them in the Mission Editor simply and have them available through Jester menu? While typing, I think we could create several markers as waypoints, but that wouldn't work in mission creation/editing... hmmm..... Anyway, I am still surprised about a Jet being limited to 3 programmed waypoints. I simply have not enough creative power to imagine how that was enough in real situations.
  16. Hi, See title... Why can we only have 3 WPs (+ IP, ST and HP) in the Cat? Is this a realistic representation of the Cat's navigational capacities? I simply don't understand that... And even IF it is realisitc, Jester should be able to enter new waypoints while flying? Or not?
  17. Hi guys! So, first things first: AMD 2600 (next thing to be upgraded) 32GB RAM GTX 1080 SSD Runs fine with ASW enabled and almost all settings on high. Now I would like to retire my Rift. Why? - I can't stand the resoultion anymore - I hate the super obvious SDE - I dislike the FOV (although I think there is not much improvement on the market, so this has least priority, but I certainly don't want less FOV!) So what would you acutally suggest to upgrade to? And by that, I also take into consideration that "too much", like Pimax, is simply too taxing on the hardware. I think about the HP headset, Odyssey or Odyssey+, but how hard are their respective impacts on performance? How does the original O handle SDE compared to the Rift? O+ is rumored to get rid of the SDE "completely"... Any other HMD suggestions are welcome of course! The goal is not the nonplus ultra, but simply better resolution so I can read instruments "mostly" without zooming and get rid of AT LEAST SOME degree of SDE while still not having to worry about fps dropping into performance-hell. Money doesn't matter, so you can leave out the "upgrading from Rift to X isn't worth the Y money"... :) If it's a better VR experience, let me know :) Thanks for help!
