I have changed some of the Key Mapping settings in the Options - Controls page but when I reload DCS 1.5.2 later those changes have disappeared and the old keystrokes are back. I know I can Save the changes but I thought tat was only for backup purposes. I'm sure 1.2 didn't do this ?

I quite agree, good points made by most answers Thanks for your putting me straight :smilewink:

I appreciate this post may upset many of the Flamming Cliffs brigade, but I am sad to see so much effort by ED with the 'watered down aircraft' fixes currently being produced, looking at the 1.2.8 change log. I recall during the A-10C Warthog and Ka-50 Black Shark era, the website almost came to a halt with all the potential customers waiting to download the next patch. Most of the expert users such as Warrior, Fish etc seem to have disappeared or post very infrequently (check out the various tutorials to see who I am talking about). I always regarded ED as the PMDG of the Combat Sim world in their expertise in producing quality simulations, but this seems to have degraded into mass market arcade type simulations such as Flamming Cliffs addons. Again sorry if this upsets the non study sim enthusiasts but ED had a unique thing going with A-10c and Ka-50 with a great reputation for quality, which sadly seems to be moving in the direction of arcade simulations of the past. If you can't answer without being rude don't bother answering mate. For the others, many thanks for the explanation

Hi I'm getting a little confused now with these simulation terms. When it was the A-10C and Blackshark I knew that the aircraft simulated was going to be a real study sim. Now with these 'dumbed down' Flaming Cliff derivatives that DCS is producing, I don't know if the F-15C AFM is off the A-10C standard or the lesser Flaming Cliffs offerings. Can anyone enlighten me please.

Thanks, that was the problem I had UK selected

Hi I can't see why this is not possible, but if I create a mission with 'Create Fast Mission' option, then go to the 'Edit Mission' page, select the Player aircraft then Payload. I can change practically everything except the livery, it only gives me the option of A-10 Grey, nothing else ? Anyone know of a way around this without creating a mission from scratch.

Many thanks, that did work, only problem is it doesn't remember this the next time it starts. Always starts back on the other monitor, also the GUI appears correct but when I go fly a mission it jumps back to the other monitor again, so I'm constantly dragging the window between monitors. I have reselected my secondary monitor as the 'Main' again now its working as normal, I'll just have to drag the bottom of the FSX window away from the taskbar.
-
As the title implies how do I open DCS on a 2nd monitor. I do NOT run DCS in full screen mode, so how do I set DCS to open on a second monitor. My main monitor is to my left and second monitor straight in front of me. I have configured my setup like this for FSX as the Task Bar etc is not on my 'Simulation' monitor, which causes a big FPS drop in FSX if the screen touches the Taskbar. Most Windows can be dragged to either monitor - how do I do this with DCS ? Thanks

Ok thanks Erforce, what you say does now make sense :) I have taken out that Hawk radar before, but what do you mean by 'TR' ? I was finding this mission impossible due to the fact my wingman wouldn't attack anything and my Laser rangefinder overheating due overuse. Now I have got more of the facts (thanks to you ) I'll give it another go. Regards

I can't seem to find anything in the manual regarding Laser overheating. Can anyone point me to the correct page please. Thanks
-
OK thanks guys, I'll have to re-read the manual

Hi Erforce Firstly, many thanks for your great tutorial on using the Datalink system, I have learnt a lot  With the latest update 1.2.4, the Wingman usability has been greatly increased, he will now attack Datalink and 'locked' targets as you have described in your tutorial. With most missions my wingman is now very helpful. However I still find him fairly useless in the Clear Tkvarcheli mission. In the early days with BS1 he was very good at taking out any Air Defences, now he just flies around in circles dispensing chaff - I just can't get him to attack anything. Have you tried this mission with the latest patch - any advice appreciated :(
-
Hi Not sure if I'm doing something wrong but last night while attempting the Clear Tkvarcheli mission. I fired all my Vikhr missiles and had to go back to the Farp to re-arm. I returned to the battle area and fired another 10 Vikhr's, but when I tried the last two I had lost the Laser Range cabability of the Target Tracker ? I also lost the 'reducing' launch range circle around the Launch Zone Reticule (the arc that reduces when its within range to fire). I'm not new to the KA-50 and didn't do anything different to firing the previous 22 missiles, also I'm pretty sure I wasn't hit by anything. Anyone else had this problem ? Is it a bug or system design i.e. does the Laser overheat and shut down.
-
Great demonstration, thanks. If that's the latest version you are using in the vid then it appears to be working, thanks for pointing it out. I'll have to try this out for myself with the Clear Tkvarcheli mission, trying to evade being hit by a missile is a real challenge there. I'm sure they have updated this mission from BS1 where it used to be fairly easy.

Can anyone help with a X-52 question
GAJ52 replied to GAJ52's topic in Controller Profiles and Problems
Isn't the clutch button the one with the 'I' on it ? I'm talking about the small silver one below the mini-stick, as someone mentioned it may be another mouse click button - anyone know if it can be reprogrammed as an ordinary select button. -
I am trying to map the KA-50 'Collective Brake' to the small button on my X52 Throttle, the one just below the green mini-stick. When I press it within the X52 Control Panel it illuminates the number 31. When I try to map any control to this button (not just the Blackshark) its not recognised within the DCS Controller Options. Is there a way round this as this is the only non used button available to map to the Collective Brake. Thanks

Hi Erforce Regarding the 'Ingress Point Tricks' are you saying we should send our wingman to an Ingress Point THEN give him a target once he is there and hovering. I didn't really understand your point b) Glen
-
That makes sense, I asked WM2 to take out the Sams and he only used one missile per target. Its nice to see ED are listening to our BS2 gripes. Glen

Currently using 1.2.4 11855. Using Erforce excellent Datalink tutorial and mission, I set up a Datalink point and sent wingman 4 to go there and wait, which he did with no problems. After a while I set the tanks on the right of the island as a Datalink target for wingman 4 and asked him to attack them, which he did - thanks again ED :) Only slight glitch was he fired two missiles at each tank (two missiles in the air at the same time) even though the first missile made the kill, and on one tank he fired three missiles. I have not seen this before.

Nice work, thank you

I thought I would come back to my original thread and main gripe with Blackshark 2..... the useless wingmen when attacking Datalink targets. Well after installing the 1.2.4.11855 patch I have had practically 100 per cent success rate in getting my wingman to attack Datalink targets. He is also not charging in on top of the target before attempting to engage, also that ridiculous 'dance' he would perform after giving the 'attack Datalink target' command has also gone. Although I don't remember seeing anything specific about this problem in the 1.2.4 Patch fix list, some work has definitely been done to correct the wingman attack problems of the past. So far for me at least its now back to how it was a few patches ago - thanks ED
-
Does this refer to the KA-50 Exhaust Heat Blur, because it still won't turn off after the second 1.2.4 patch. I have noticed its intermittent, sometimes when I go to an outside view there is no Heat Blur and other times there is - very strange.
-
. Does this mean my Blackshark wingman will actually attack Datalink targets ??
-
I think I can provide you with plenty of that :smilewink:
