something changed with force feedback for F-14
Jeeve79 replied to Jeeve79's topic in Bugs and Problems
This is a known issue Schlomo, switching planes makes F-14 ffb stop working. Been like that for ever. -
Not using that ffb software, but, it feels like I am getting an issue with this sticky "spring" effect on my Sidewinder 2, in only the F-14 Tomcat. |It's masking everything except high AoA shudders. Got it since replugging Sidewinder USB (maybe during F-14 loading screen). It somehow set my F-14 into centerspring mode. There are some forces, they center around trim center, and shudders, so it kind of works, but not at all as intended, forces stopped coming and going, very weird. I need to reset this somehow back to 'amazing'. Does anybody have any idea how I get it back to how it was?
-
I know about the plane hopping issue. That is not it. That kills ffb, I am getting a bland centering force on trim position, so ffb does work, just not as intended any more. Not sure what you mean by restarting the FFB device. It's a MS Sidewinder FF 2. Actually, my issue might come from unpluggin replugging the stick while it was still loading or closing something. F-4 and P-51 ffb feels fine. Rolled back to DCS pre phantom version, same issue, so it's not the patch, uninstalled/reinstalled F-14 , no fix. So it's not in those files. Maybe it's DCS saved games config file somewhere or even windows that got confused. The stick is fine and there is no extra software needed, I am almost at a point of totally uninstalling DCS and saved games, reinstalling with just F-14 and testing, and then reinstalling Windows if it won't fix. That is why I wanted to be sure you guys are still getting superb ffb in the F-14. Before I redo my entire OS and DCS. Feels like I just need to reset something or config file but no idea.
-
Guys can you please check if you still getting the awesome FFB that you are used to in the F-14? So I can make sure it is 100 percent my issue alone. It used to be like this: almost no forces standing still, but feeling bumps in the runway, FFB going light at low speeds and near stalls, FFB going strong at high speeds and turns, feeling the plane in the turns, forces coming and going ..... Now, all I am getting, is bland centering forces on wherever I trim, and some shaking, but not the real forces I was used to and are so amazing. Please guys, get F-14 into a stall, and feel if centering forces fall away and the stick goes light at slow speeds ???? If so, I have a very weird FFB issue and need some way to reset it to how it was.

Controllers scramble every time DCS starts

I had that way back in the past and started to save profiles for each device, for each plane. That solved it for me. -
something changed with force feedback for F-14
Jeeve79 replied to Jeeve79's topic in Bugs and Problems
I believe you, and also, you are correct I just rolled back and getting same issue, bland trim center forces for F-14 only. Something must have broken for me on specifically F-14, all I did was unplug and replug, maybe during a loading screen. I am clueless to how to get it back how it was. Maybe I could delete some file that regenerates itself and reset force feedback for the F-14. I am sure I felt forces coming and going, according to speed or near stall. Can someone please verify they are indeed feeling those, and not just centering forces towards trim center? Thanks for reply. -
F-14 lost it's feel for me, mainly centering forces now, but not from aero. Feels generic with some rumble effects, but no more real forces as it used to have. They used to come and go, weaken and intensify according to speed, altitude, attitude, flaps ..... I use a MS sidewinder FF 2. But I am sure other force feedback hardware users must also be feeling the same changes. Phantom's feedback feels great but I think it broke the F-14 feedback, I know this sounds weird because there are no notes for F-14 in last changelog, nor do I see notes about force feedback in older changelogs. I can't be the only one feeling this, I have tested several days now, switching planes, restarting, back to menu, unplugging .... Nothing changed from my side and I have tested many things now and other planes to make sure it's not me. I am certain the force feedback on F-14 changed and it is not as great as it was and feels very generic. Makes me sad, please fix, revert back to how it was, it felt amazing.

MT and ST. Feels like force feedback on F-14 broke. I use MS Sidewinder FF 2 . Very weird because no notes for F-14 in latest changelog. Anyone else feeling this? I only feel centering force, trim and shake effects, it doesn't do the actual forces on pitch axis any more. Depending on speed or flaps, forces used to weaken and intensify. Note that I did fiddle with new Phantom force feedback sliders, put them back to original values, no fix. I also tried all other stuff, toggling ff options, going back to menu or restarting, unplugging usb.... The Phantom force feedback feels great btw. It's forces do come and go and feels natural. I also tried P-51 and it feels the same. I'm almost sure something broke on the Tomcat's force feedback, used to feel amazing.

I do not want to use mods to be able to read cockpit labels. The F-14 cockpit is filthy. They overdid it. It doesn't need to be factory new bling bling but come on. I like some wear and tear. Looks more realistic. Love the plane, but if they planning on having custom cockpit stuff, at least give us a cleaner option with more readable labels.

This is so good. Great challenge. Thanks a lot for this.

That is what I am hearing yes. The very first flyby, it is totally lacking bass. That is not how it used to be. All the distant stuff sounds good btw. I know for a fact, that there is always lots of bass in real life, no matter how far away you are. Bass is an understatement actually, a high pressure shockwave feels like the windows are about to explode and walls shake. Feels like, the further away, the more bass it has. So that sounds great. I'd vote for adding bass to a camera that is closeby is all I am saying.
-
Normal F3 flyby used to be KNETS-BOOOM (Ka+Boom(mega-bass)) followed by jet exhaust rumble. It just not that impressive any more, the double beat and also bass is completely gone. I can not believe no one is hearing the difference, seems very odd to me. I did not change audio devices or drivers, and checked other peoples stream and asked to go supersonic and listen in F3 flyby. It is just not the same any more, 100 percent sure of this. PS: Distant booms from ground spectator sound good and are a nice addition imo.
-
Further out sounds is great indeed, I agree. But the close f3 flyby used to have serious bass and that double beat to it. Not just loud jet noises that pop in suddenly. Hard to explain a sound, specially when it's gone. normal f3 flyby sounded way better imo. Bass boom is gone.
-
I think this must be a bug because it sounds horrible and the sonic boom was epic and spot on imo. I hear them now and again from F-16 and it was very realistic, as far as you possibly can with speakers or headphones without destroying your eardrums or speakers. It's the same bug for all jets going supersonic. I hope I am not the only one hearing this. Please bring back the real sonic boom guys. Thanks a lot.

Nice, pity there is no wireframe in it though.

fixed in 2.7 Force Feedback Shaking not implemented (yet?)
Jeeve79 replied to DefaultFace's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
Feels good in P-51 and F-14 for me, no FFB in the P-47 at all. I am not buying it because of the lack of force feedback. Such a shame. -

I am interested, Belgian, my native language is Dutch(Flemish). (I also speak French, English and some German) Should sound like a dutch accent but a bit more raw and more rolling r's. -
You can add this to description.lua inside the livery files here: X:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\CoreMods\aircraft\F-16C\Liveries\F-16C_50\Jeeve --DISABLED BORT --F16_bl50_NOUSE_1_DECAL {"F16_bl50_NOUSE_1_DECAL", DIFFUSE, "f16_bl50_main_1", false}; {"F16_bl50_NOUSE_1_DECAL", ROUGHNESS_METALLIC, "f16_bl50_main_1_roughmet", false}; {"F16_bl50_NOUSE_1_DECAL", DECAL, "empty", true}; --F16_bl50_NOUSE_1_BORT_NUMBER_001 {"F16_bl50_NOUSE_1_BORT_NUMBER_001", DIFFUSE, "f16_bl50_main_1", false}; {"F16_bl50_NOUSE_1_BORT_NUMBER_001", ROUGHNESS_METALLIC, "f16_bl50_main_1_roughmet", false}; {"F16_bl50_NOUSE_1_BORT_NUMBER_001", DECAL, "empty", true}; --F16_bl50_NOUSE_1_BORT_NUMBER_010 {"F16_bl50_NOUSE_1_BORT_NUMBER_010", DIFFUSE, "f16_bl50_main_1", false}; {"F16_bl50_NOUSE_1_BORT_NUMBER_010", ROUGHNESS_METALLIC, "f16_bl50_main_1_roughmet", false}; {"F16_bl50_NOUSE_1_BORT_NUMBER_010", DECAL, "empty", true}; --F16_bl50_NOUSE_1_BORT_NUMBER_100 {"F16_bl50_NOUSE_1_BORT_NUMBER_100", DIFFUSE, "f16_bl50_main_1", false}; {"F16_bl50_NOUSE_1_BORT_NUMBER_100", ROUGHNESS_METALLIC, "f16_bl50_main_1_roughmet", false}; {"F16_bl50_NOUSE_1_BORT_NUMBER_100", DECAL, "empty", true}; --F16_bl50_NOUSE_2_BORT_NUMBER_001 {"F16_bl50_NOUSE_2_BORT_NUMBER_001", DIFFUSE, "f16_bl50_main_2", false}; {"F16_bl50_NOUSE_2_BORT_NUMBER_001", DECAL, "empty", true}; --F16_bl50_NOUSE_2_BORT_NUMBER_010 {"F16_bl50_NOUSE_2_BORT_NUMBER_010", DIFFUSE, "f16_bl50_main_2", false}; {"F16_bl50_NOUSE_2_BORT_NUMBER_010", DECAL, "empty", true}; --F16_bl50_NOUSE_2_BORT_NUMBER_100 {"F16_bl50_NOUSE_2_BORT_NUMBER_100", DIFFUSE, "f16_bl50_main_2", false}; {"F16_bl50_NOUSE_2_BORT_NUMBER_100", DECAL, "empty", true}; --F16_bl50_FIN_DECAL {"F16_bl50_FIN_DECAL", DIFFUSE, "f16_bl50_kil", false}; {"F16_bl50_FIN_DECAL", ROUGHNESS_METALLIC, "f16_bl50_kil_roughmet", false}; {"F16_bl50_FIN_DECAL", DECAL, "empty", true}; --F16_bl50_FIN_BORT_NUMBER_001 {"F16_bl50_FIN_BORT_NUMBER_001", DIFFUSE, "f16_bl50_kil", false}; {"F16_bl50_FIN_BORT_NUMBER_001", ROUGHNESS_METALLIC, "f16_bl50_kil_roughmet", false}; {"F16_bl50_FIN_BORT_NUMBER_001", DECAL, "empty", true}; --F16_bl50_FIN_BORT_NUMBER_010 {"F16_bl50_FIN_BORT_NUMBER_010", DIFFUSE, "f16_bl50_kil", false}; {"F16_bl50_FIN_BORT_NUMBER_010", ROUGHNESS_METALLIC, "f16_bl50_kil_roughmet", false}; {"F16_bl50_FIN_BORT_NUMBER_010", DECAL, "empty", true}; --F16_bl50_FIN_BORT_NUMBER_100 {"F16_bl50_FIN_BORT_NUMBER_100", DIFFUSE, "f16_bl50_kil", false}; {"F16_bl50_FIN_BORT_NUMBER_100", ROUGHNESS_METALLIC, "f16_bl50_kil_roughmet", false}; {"F16_bl50_FIN_BORT_NUMBER_100", DECAL, "empty", true}; --F16_bl50_NOUSE_1_BORT_NUMBER_1000-- {"F16_bl50_NOUSE_1_BORT_NUMBER_X100", DIFFUSE, "f16_bl50_main_1", false}; {"F16_bl50_NOUSE_1_BORT_NUMBER_X100", NORMAL_MAP, "f16_bl50_main_1_normal", true}; {"F16_bl50_NOUSE_1_BORT_NUMBER_X100", ROUGHNESS_METALLIC, "f16_bl50_main_1_roughmet", true}; {"F16_bl50_NOUSE_1_BORT_NUMBER_X100", DECAL, "empty", true}; --F16_bl50_NOUSE_2_BORT_NUMBER_1000-- {"F16_bl50_NOUSE_2_BORT_NUMBER_X001", DIFFUSE, "f16_bl50_main_2", false}; {"F16_bl50_NOUSE_2_BORT_NUMBER_X001", NORMAL_MAP, "f16_bl50_main_2_normal", true}; {"F16_bl50_NOUSE_2_BORT_NUMBER_X001", ROUGHNESS_METALLIC, "f16_bl50_main_2_roughmet", true}; {"F16_bl50_NOUSE_2_BORT_NUMBER_X001", DECAL, "empty", true};
